Everywhere that I look and read atm is about how the Dogs are going to beat Melbourne. It seems to me that the Dees are not going to run out unprepared. Any thought about hanging it on Max will fail, why? Max is determined very very good and I cannot imagine his team mates letting any funny business go without strong retribution!

who is going to stop Kozzie, Petracca, Oliver, Spargo , Brown , Fritsch? Etc etc

The Dogs have a good team, but no mention of how they will handle the fortnight off. On a roll , but now, who knows what effect this will have on their team. The Dees have prepared like they did before Geelong. How did that go?

Yes we need stoppers on Daniel, Liberatore and Mccrae. Especially Daniel who the dogs play through all of the time. He drops off runs to the back of the play and where he receives the ball. He is such a good user , this supply needs corking.

I get the feeling that the Dees are ready for the pressure and will deliver a fair bit themselves. The Dees did not get here by luck. Time and time again a new type of Melbourne has emerged this season. The Dees have many weapons, they play as a single machine. The Dogs also are a good team, but this season we would appear to be the better team. This we will prove on Saturday.

As Ronald Dale Barassi recently said, “ stay calm and give em hell!”

Happy for all the focus to be on stopping Max and Lever/May, and Naughton.

But no side with a poorly ranked defence (outside top 5) has won the flag for at least 13 years (probably longer). The dogs are ranked #18 in defensive one on one contests lost (31% lost, and 36% lost in the second half of the year).  We win by making sure our forwards can get space and a lot of one on ones.  BB, TMac, LJ/Max, Fritta are a big chance to have big games, and Kozzie/Spargs when it hits the ground.  27 degree day and no wind suits us perfectly.

As much as I wanted us to play port... there is justice afoot in that the two best teams are in the grand final.

Cats and power are good teams that I believe only finished top four by the benefit of the home advantage they have. As such they were clearly exposed in the finals.

Lions were late finishers this year that have an exciting brand of footy. The dogs although a better team got a little help from the umps in that final.

On the two times we played we beat the dogs once quite clearly and the The second time I do believe in the wet conditions the fourteen more frees (25-11) was a shambles. In those conditions the umpires should let more things slide.

If the dogs win I dont believe it will be by much. Our defence doesnt concede much.

But there are a few factors that I think have changed since our last encounter.

1 Max. He has simply gone to a new level. He has displayed roving skills lately that match most star midfielders.

2 Jack Viney. Our previous captain has recently shown why he was in that position.

3. Our fwd line. Despite the experimenting  its been long settled and highly effective now. The dogs less so with no Josh Bruce.

4. Our slump is well and truly behind us v the dogs not so much.

5.  We played at Optus in our last game and not so long ago in the h and a.....thus we will feel more settled there.

I hope the umpires don't get too involved. We are not slow off the mark and we don't kick too many behinds( scorewise😀).

I also believe we have more players with star and wow factor than the dogs that will emerge on the big stage.

And finally even though I believe these teams are not too much apart its is still a matter of Number one playing number five that history suggests will leave us victors.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
