Yoga???

The Dees are trying YOGA but can it help you kick accurately?

I've practised Hatha Yoga for years - great for all-round well-being and should help any footballer maintain general flexibility and health.

As for kicking accuracy, not so sure. But if they practice any form of meditation with the Yoga (and I know some footballers do ) this should help concentration and thus maybe accuracy!

I agree with the assessment re: benefits of meditation for concentration. There may be a two-fold action - it decreases the impact of irrelevant thoughts/emotions and increases 'deliberateness'. That is turn may increase goal-kicking accuracy. Importantly, it may also help increase general awareness and help ward off the tunnel vision phenomena common when overly focused or anxious/aroused. This mightily depends on the type of meditation used - mindfulness meditatioh may produce this outcome in my opinion. Needs decent research though.

I was being facetious with the line about the kicking.

Godders has been doing it for three years and it hasn't helped him!

Hi Rolling, yep, knew you were being facetious - however - and remembering S.Godfrey's underwhelming kicking skills - I believe that the practice of Yoga should help athletes gain that extra edge in flexibility and (just maybe) help them to kick better.

Bikram Yoga is a [censored].

Trust me 90 minutes in the sauna in some pretty uncomfortable positions is not much fun.

I lasted 10 minutes (felt like an hour)... never again! :o

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
