A different preview Round 4

A big weekend last Round with my predictions getting 8 out of 9. Missed on the Dorks with the last kick of the game. So close…so close.

Picked 19 winners in the three rounds so far… Tipping the house down…..

Friday night at DS…. It is Domain Stadium in Perth…. I looked it up….They have renamed the suburb of Subiaco, Domain apparently. Anyhooooo It is the ex-Druggies taking on the Timid Tiges

Hardon’s boys have not fired a shot so far this season. Heard they are keeping their powder dry for the second half surge of the season. One of their sponsors does a good line in microwaves and they want to give them a chance to sell a few to the club’s membership cooks.

Simmo likes the look of his team and likes the way they are playing. Nickie/nackie/noo used his prodigious jump to cave in Sandi’s ribs and has promised to do the same to any Timid Tiges who get in his way. Stay timid Tiges…preserve your ribs….

Prediction: Ex-druggies by more than a few. Timid Tiges to be heard asking themselves…. “ extension, what extension??? We are not in the business of giving extensions to anyone unless there are good reasons….. You must have heard wrong.”

And so we roll into Saturday.

First up at the Home of Football are TDC and the Handbaggers.

If I was Warren Buffett I would lay all of my hard-earned on the Handbaggers at $1.03 and screw with the bookies heads a bit. $100Billion at them odds would mean a payout of $103B by my calculations. Mind you, he could put 10 of that 100b on TDC and look for a payout of $130b… be so easy if I had the money.

Now the actual game….. What to say? TDC have nothing and will not have anything more this season because they only play us once.

Handbaggers are Dangerous.

Prediction: write your own ticket. Baggers by plenty (plenty to be defined by your good selves)

Saturday afternoon at Aurora with the Dorks and the Aints. (just in case you don’t know, Aurora is on Two Headed island)

The Dorks fell in last week against the Doggies and have not looked like themselves so far this season. They have looked more like the portrait of Dorian Grey. You know the story by Oscar Wilde, Grey sells his soul so that rather than him growing old, the portrait fades and grows old. Pertinent question: has Clarko sold the soul of the team for one more season?

Please, please, all that was gibberish to fill a bit in until the prediction.

Prediction; Dorks by a few and the portrait to fade a bit more.

P. S. - Just realised I should say something about the Aints. Flash in the pan... got their 4 points for the season.....

Still Saturday afternoon and now at the Gabba with Leppa’s Pride Vs Sons of Ablett. The Sunshine Clash

Leppa’s pride is having a great season, or they would be if they had actually won something in the first three rounds besides our derision. Still, there is always next week… has to be because it aint gunna be this week.

The Sons are looking awesome… I mean, Totally Awesome, great tans.

Prediction: The Pride to do an Icarus impersonation and plummet to earth after trying to get too close to the Sons.

Saturday night at the Home away from Home Boos at home to the Doggies.

Not been good for the Boos so far. Mind you they are majorly [censored] off with the Dees for losing to the DC. Now they need to win a game to ensure they are at least on a par them for when they meet.

Boos Coach, Capt Obvious stated that they fell away badly in the last Quarter. It is not as if they fell from great heights… 5 goals in two and a half quarters with the Sons kicking a bag full inaccurately.

And the Poor Old Doggies will ‘DO IT FOR BOB’ Shame about Bob’s knee, but always look on the bright side of life – no, don’t crucify, Bob – just be thankful that it happened to him at the end of his career and not at the beginning.  If it had been at the beginning we may not have seen him play the way he has played. There have been many that never had the chance to play to their full potential because of early ACLs

Damn, That was serious.

Prediction: Doggies by lots with a salute to Bob at full time.

Saturday night and Adelaide has The Big One…. Tah Dah! The Birdie Clash…….The Cows against the Swannies.

I know… I keep missing the Cows Rs.. it is on purpose you know. I just don’t like them.

Speaking of missing Rs… have you seen the latest crop of supermodels? They also seem to be missing their Rs… must be a Cows supporter thing.

The Swans glide majestically along while paddling madly below the surface while the Cows fly around in ever decreasing circles while squaking “Fark…Fark” while they threaten to fly up their own fundamental….if they had one.

Damn! I tied that up nicely

Prediction: hate to say it but the Rs-less Cows might just take the 4 points… I felt dirty typing that

Sunday the day of rest and worship.

First up… Sidelly of the Western variety Vs The other team from Adelaide. At…… Wait for it…… Wait For it…… Startrek Oval… I mean it… Startrek Oval…. I want to go there. Really….

It would be so easy to go off on a Sci-fi jag here….. Beam me up Scotty and all that… too easy….Whatever happened to Capt Kirk?

Might do this one straight.

I believe that GWS will show a lot of Enterprise in this game and their Next Generation will also show a lot. TOT from Adelaide will not Klingon to GWS after their long Trek over from Deep Space Nine.  Oops… slipped a bit there at the end.

Prediction; StarShip Enterprise to dominate… 30pts.

Sunday afternoon at the “G” and we finally get to the main game of the Round. You-Know-Who Vs The once again Mighty Dees.

Ahhh Yes, the Dees are Back in Town after their loss to Norf…what? What? Back in Town with a loss? Ya gotta be kidding me.

Yeah, but what a loss…. We have not lost them like that in Years. We kicked more points in that game then the in the whole time Neeld was in charge, I kid you not. I may need a fact checker for that one.

The pies are travelling like a one legged tinker with a busted wheel on his cart….. slowly, unevenly and with a lot of clashing noise. Love it! Hey Bucks, ya should have stayed at the Loins….. Damn this is giving me a laugh. I am waiting for Eddie whats-his-name to fire the team and keep the coach.

I would like to win this one. I know I am not Robinson Crusoe on that, but, you know, I reeeeaaaaaaly want to win this one and when we are 10 goals up with 10 to play I want to see that grand old flag unfurled……. “Season Over”

Prediction: Dees by 10 goals

The last game of the round…. Sunday twilight Norf Vs The Duckers. Seriousely… who cares where they play?

Both team’s supporters are talking about 4-in-a-row… Norf because they can after the dirty cheating maggots gifted the game last Sunday and the Duckers because Ross the Boss is crap and they have finally realized it.

Norf must have goat pics of a couple of the officials at last Sunday’s match… fair dinkum! It is just not right. I could go on for a while about the mistakes and injustices during last week’s match but…. But…. I won’t.

Ross the Boss was after the Capt Obvious title for the week with this from his presser…."We just need to fix those things I've identified." Here is a short list to help you ‘identify’ R the B….. Mundy’s calf, Sandi’s ribs, Pav’s age and team’s crap performance.

Added this during an Edit...it was too good not to include....

Ross the boss after last round actually said the following:

“I don’t think you have to be a genius to work out if the ledger stays like this there’s going to be a paradigm shift in philosophy,” Lyon said after the match.

“I think the aim is to win enough games and play finals. That’s our aim. I would’ve thought that’s every club’s aim.”

I shakes me head in appreciation... a footy coach actually putting together that phrase in connection to footy... " A paradigm shift in Philosophy". I love it...Malthouse, eat ya heart out....Just have no idea what it means in this context.....

Prediction: 4-in-a-row for both Norf and Duckers.

Quote of the week.

“Ducking for apples -- change one letter and it's the story of my life.”
 Dorothy Parker

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
