2012 Player Review - # 48 Jack Fitzpatrick

Featured Replies

Jack has demonstrated plenty of resilience this season, overcoming illness and managing his diabetes. His VFL form, particularly throughout the second half of the year, was very good. Additionally, he led the Casey goal kicking with 28 for the season, and was rewarded with two AFL games this year. There were certainly positives in his game against Fremantle in Round 23, and he has a great

understanding of what is required to compete as a key forward at this level. We look forward to Jack completing another full pre-season and taking the next step with his football, maximising his speed, athleticism and 200 cm frame Paul Satterley melbournefc.com.au

It will be very interesting to see what happens with Fitzy this year given all of the forwards that we have recruited.

In 2012 his game started to come together and he looked reasonable at AFL in his couple of games. Everyone talks about Daniher as a 200 cm forward yet Fitz with his speed could be very damaging at AFL level. I am hoping that with a big pre season that he could be the surprise packet of 2013.

However could you have Clark, Dawes, Hogan (2014) & Fitzy in the same forward line?

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
