Father son drafting rules

Is it possible to arrange a trade deal?

Assume GWS and GC finish below us on the ladder.

In return for GWS and GC not bidding for Viney, we agree to trade someone like Watts, Garland, Morton or Tapscott for a 5th round draft pick.

They still get their top 2 draft picks. We can also throw in Sylvia, Davey or Moloney. Maybe Jamar too.

There are certain players named here that I don't want to lose, but we have to take risks. We will make wholesale changes anyway at the end of the year.

I'm of the belief that position in round one drafting order makes no difference. GWS and GCS can't trump us, just force us to use our first round pick. They have to assume we wouldn't go higher than round two.

It's my understanding we only activated one compo pick, the one directly after our first pick, is that the case?

The Age reported this ahead of the announcement, but it was incorrect. We activated both.

What if we trade pick 3 for pick 5 (or any other first round pick), we would then get pick 4 and 5 and a mid first round pick. Would we then be able to use our second round pick on viney if GC or GWS bid for viney?

No.

Father-son bidding is before trade week, so trades don't even come into the equation.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
