One of the main reasons Barassi gave for leaving Melbourne was the perception that any success he had would be credited to Smith. Same with Malthouse and Buckley. Seems like Collingwood have made a monumental blunder with this one. On the cusp of a truly great era, they have two stalking bulls competing for the reins. If Malthouse goes back-to-back then the heat will be on Buckley next year; any failures and the critics will come out of the woodworks. Come on 'woods, do a '65!
