I watched the game, and whilst Sachin was given 4 lives, I don't think they were dropped on purpose. Three of them considerably hard and justifiably difficult to catch. I thought one of them was nearly a sitter that was dropped by an experienced player.

I wouldn't be the least surprised though if there were in fact betting fluctuations.
