Melbourne 2010 best 22

Featured Replies

Given there have been three Demons games since you posted that 22, it's no surprise you've not made many changes... :P

Anyway, is MacDonald just taking Bruce's spot on the bench or has someone else come in to your 22?

There'd be other posters who would change...each week.

You could put a case for Bail to swap with JoelMac on the bench.

Alright, here's my semi-educated opinion (feel free to judge/heap scorn on)

FB: Rivers, Warnock, Garland

HB: Grimes, Frawley, Bruce

C: Morton, Trengove, Moloney

HF: Davey, Watts, Sylvia

FF: Jurrah, Green, Bate

Foll: Jamar, McDonald, Scully

Int: McKenzie, Petterd, Jones, Bennell

Emg: Bail, Martin, MacDonald, Bartram

All dependent on matchups on gameday.

Already getting hard, and we've yet to see about 10 players be given a decent crack!

Yeah i Like this, but Batram is very unlucky!

Yep, I'll probably change my mind on Bartram after Saturday's game. Typical fickle MFC supporter.

At the start of the year Bailey said that his major objective this year was to get game time into our youngsters.

This exercise shows just how difficult selection is becoming. By the end of the season, I'd hope to see several youngsters get exposure (more exposure) to AFL footy. Fitness- and Casey form permitting - just how are we going to give 2 or 3 (more) games to

- Gysberts

- Tapscott

- Strauss

- Woenamirri

- Jetta

- McNamara

- Maric ?

It's going to be hard enough to fit in Watts, Morton and Jurrah.

Good problem to have - but it is a problem

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.
