AFL open to Jim Stynes medal

Featured Replies

THE AFL is happy to meet Jim Stynes and his family to discuss the push to create medal in his honour.

Former teammates, politicians and sporting identities have joined the campaign to launch the Jim Stynes Medal of Courage in recognition of Victoria's everyday heroes on and off the field. More than 5000 fans have flooded a Facebook site dedicated to the cause since it was first reported in the Herald Sun yesterday.

I've already invited over 500 ppl.

I think this would be really good for Jim, not to mention the club and the AFL.

These things have a snowball effect, so if everyone just invites their entire friend list the facebook page alone will get this over the line.

(quote from wikipedia)

The Jim Stynes Medal is awarded to the best player of the Australian team for each series. It was first awarded in 1998 and named after Jim Stynes, the former Gaelic footballer who went on to win the Brownlow Medal, the highest award in Australian rules football.
