Featured Replies

got my pack yesterday the scarf is very nice good to see a traditional bar scarf mind you wont get to use it much up here in Brisbane

have just booked to fly to melbourne for the queens birthday game cant wait see you all there

That's [censored]! I was having a chat to the membership department and they told me that scarves would not be sent out to we interstate supporters (I'm in Brisbane as well) until January because the club doesn't take delivery of the 2010 stock until then.

Funny that you got one a month before the club.

Hmm thats odd alright cos I got mine on the Gold Coast on Tuesday. Very nice.

I see that the calendar does have shots of other teams but who the hell cares!!!!!!!!! Its background.. the main shot is one of our boys and thats fine by me. I dont care to look that hard and anyway its more the atmosphere of the ground and the crowds which we will have again very very soon.

Well, I think you'll find its people just looking for something to complain about.

I think its a poor yet barely significant move - I'll still put my calendar on the wall.

Deb,

If you got your scarf then I can only assume the girl I spoke to at memberships was wrong. Do you think it's got anything to do with my being a first-time member or because you might have a higher level of membership than myself?

If not, I'm a bit curious to know why two Queenslanders got the scarf but another didn't. Any idea why ?

AndrewD, it's got nothing to do with being a first-time member. I'm one myself, and received my scarf yesterday.

DrM (great name),

I just spoke to memberships and they said what's happened is that, although I live in Queensland (Brisbane), the membership package I took out wasn't classed by them as 'interstate'. As a result there was a bit of a mix-up and they'll be sending the scarf out in January. Got the impression I'm not the only one that might have got muddled but that's okay.

Thanks for the information.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
