The Melbourne Football Club lost a treasured part of its heritage on the weekend, with the passing of 1948 premiership player and 150 Hero, George Bickford who was one of Melbourne’s best in the historic replay win over Essendon in 1948. His son, Stephen, also played for Melbourne, and served as a director.

Sincere condolences to the entire Bickford family.
