Midfilders need to contribute on the scoreboard

Our Midfielders in recent years dont kick enough goals.

Right now we need more from McDonald, Moloney, Batram, Bruce, Davey, Jones and McLean they need to start Kicking goals.

Ive excused Morton only in second year.

Very simply they don't get a chance to get close enough often enough before the ball's on the way back and a defensive role must be assumed.

Was it 40 I-50s last week and even less yesterday. They'll get goals when the ball is inside 50 for longer periods.

That's not entirely true. I recall yesterday at least one instance each when Bruce, Jones and Brock all had chances from around the 50 and none of them got close. All other sides have a few who can put goals through from these areas. We lack those types.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG after a dismal performance in Gather Round to face the reigning dual Premiers Brisbane. What do expect to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
