White wasn't the only experienced Demon absent, as David Neitz, Adem Yze, Russell Robertson, James McDonald, Jared Rivers, Brent Moloney, Nathan Carroll and Ben Holland were all non-starters due to retirement, injury or lack of form.

And aside from Rivers, Moloney and Carroll, the rest of those players all debuted in the 1990s, meaning Melbourne's team against the Lions was the first time it fielded a side without a player who debuted last decade.

In fact, the Demons were the only team this round not to have had a player in their side who debuted in the 1990s. The AFL confirmed this is a rare statistic and one that could have happened for the first time on the weekend.

Thats us setting records where ever we go ;) .......

Although this is nice positive one.

Cheers YM!!!

Now it's Stynes' turn to wear the Star Wars comparison: 'He brings almost Yoda-like qualities to the red and blue faithful and his passion and energy is unquestioned.'

Really?

What sort of Yoda-like qualities?

Is he the wise grandmaster of a sect of super-powerful warriors?

Is he following the Light Side of the Force?

Does he have fully sick jedi mind tricks?

Where is his lightsaber, and - more to the point - what colour is it?

Or...

...is he just a puppet with a weird way of speaking and some other bloke's hand up his bum?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
