If Roos wants him I want him! (simple as that)

That will come with confidence - look at Kent, Fitzy or Spencer. A handful of good games and a good preseason and he will feel as if he deserves to be out there. (both Fitzy and Spencer said they played better/more confidently when they thought they had earned their spot in the team)

.....I don't know is that legal? Sounds like something a good team would do. We don't want to play with the rules of the game - lets just keep handballing it to still players just to be safe.

Happy that Toump could have a good game - could give him a lot more confidence going into the preseason. One of the kids that will really benefit from a full preseason (as well as Trengove, Taggert, Kent and Evans). We have to make sure we develop him right - not like Trengove (Viney and Hogan will be fine). I think its a matter of building up his body without losing speed (like GWS do). In his draft highlights video he looked to have great speed and confidence - I think he would be getting 20-30 touches every week in a collingwood midfield (ours just doesn't suit him). I see him as a good rebounding player - getting the ball on an open wing and legging it then kicking it from 50m (like in his draft highlights)

Agreed - we can start worrying about a small forward when we start getting the ball in the forward line. It will be much easier to trade for a good small forward than an good young mid.

Bit off topic but any news on Bennell? I wish we kept him - such a talent! Still remember that run along the wing and goal against Sydney (when we won by like 70) and his one hand pick up in a contested situation, on the run and in pouring rain when everyone couldn't pick it up. I bet you anything that if he had been drafted by a successful club he would be an absolute freak!

Watts recently admitted that his early debut against Collingwood sapped his confidence and probably affected his development. That's a big statement to make - learn from your mistakes mfc! I hate to see a great talented and chirpy guy like Toumpas walk of the ground sapped of confidence like that.

[quote name="rpfc" "I feel for Toumpas as he is asked to perform in an environment different to a Mayes or a Macrae. We don't have the talented bodies in the midfield that allow a young player to play their role and not much more. There is less easy footy for Toumpas, there is more responsibility"

I like your thinking. It's hard to believe his only 26? - Eddie Betts
