Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 12
Dee Zephyr replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can’t remember if we announced an extended squad on the Thursday prior to the QB game last year. Would we announce a squad before our main training session tomorrow? -
There’s been one scratching in the El Magnificence race. Now for two more?.
-
Stradbroke is my pick Macca. One of my favourite races on the calendar. Actually, the whole race day is thoroughly enjoyable. DZ would like to announce Dan Zephyr is officially retired. One of mate’s other horses and former stablemate to Dan Zephyr has accepted for Flemington on Saturday. It’s the third emergency so here’s hoping for a few scratchings. Flemington Race 9 Number 19 El Magnificence. Odds $26-$34 ( Various ) https://www.racenet.com.au/racing-form-guide/flemington-20180609/ron-taylor-handicap-race-9

An AFL article today lists players from each club that are in All-Australian contention mid-season. Ours according to Ben Guthrie are, Oliver, Hogan, Gawn, Jetta and this bloke. I tend to agree. Oscar McDonald This might be one from left field but Demons supporters will know how important Oscar McDonald has been this season. Would be top five in the club's best and fairest award, making giant strides in his role as Melbourne's No.1 key defender.

Entertaining interview with T Mac on SEN a short time ago. • Oscar and the club have started talks on his contract. • The boys have a tennis, squash and board games club. Beats drinking beers mid-week IMO. • Was asked about the “ Camp” and admitted he was in the middle of it and could see both sides of the argument. Basically said mountain out of molehill.

James Harmes is our Special Guest on the Demonland Podcast (6/6)
Dee Zephyr replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Harmes suffered a punctured lung I believe in his first season playing with Casey which kept him out for nearly two months. No doubt disappointing for a rookie trying to have an impact and make an impression in their first season. Maybe a question about his drive, determination and his thoughts on how he could get the best out himself when he returned from the injury? -
Clueless, mind boggling selections. You could argue Max is having a better season than all 18 starters. Aaargh.....was a good day until now. He’s second favourite for the Brownlow for crying out loud. Over to you on Monday Gawny!
-
Sorry, I must have wrongly read the article. I wasn’t aware the 1958 record setting game was on a QB. I thought we commenced the QB clashes against Pies in 2001.
-
OMG, OMG, OMG. This day keeps getting better and better, ON YA Tommy!
-
MCC predicting 79,000 next Monday which would make it a record for a QB clash. We’d love it if we can get 80k+.

Wow, thanks Macca. A 32% increase since 2015, that’s a massive percentage. Great to see they didn’t forget about the little guys with the push to increase money at grass roots level. I’ve been to a few picnic races and had a lot of fun. I remember whilst holidaying at Phillip Island one summer my uncle took us to the Woolamai picnic races and the best part was watching the same horse go around twice on the day. Almost got into the money in both races.

Jake Melksham - the AFL's one on one king!
Dee Zephyr replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
He’s also a lot smarter than I initially thought. In the lead up to that kick he summed up the situation perfectly. When the ball was coming out of our defensive 50 and prior to receiving the handball from Harmes I noted on the replay he had several looks inboard, assesing options and also allowing himself space from his nearest opponent. What a weapon he’s become. -

Thanks @Ethan Tremblay and @Petraccattack for highlighting my incompetence at this online search stuff within 5 minutes. ? -
Jake Lever injury - Confirmed ACL

It was on the Sunday Footy Show on 9 yesterday morning. I tried a search but couldn’t find anything readily available, to watch the episode you need to download the 9now app. Hopefully another member can post it for you. -
Back to back Neale Daniher Trophies coming up for Trac.
-
A report a few pages back stated he got a fair bit of the ball but wasn’t influential.
-
How’s Hunt’s disposal today?
-
I agree with you, had to maintain some minor interest in this game.
-
Can’t stand Hoskin-Elliott. He just kicked a goal, still tied with Jesse as the only two to have kicked a goal every game.
-
Anyone would be when they win the ball at half back, pass it off to the wing and then sprint 60-70 metres to become the next link in the chain. Spargo has one more in him before the bye.

Looks like no upset in Game 1 today. What’s next?

How far do you think he would throw Razor? -

Viney mentioned a few names on the footy show as possible replacements and good to hear him mention Keilty second after Frost. It could mean little or maybe he’s really rated down there. Positive plug nonetheless.
