  1. Do you think you should be banned, Occo? If so, then how long for?

I dont see whats wrong with a joke so i dont think i should be. People need to relax. I made a hoax that wasn't hurtful or offensive. And now everyone is happy knowing it was a hoax, i have brightened up peoples day

  2. Some of you guys are taking this way too seriously. I was home with some friends and i had this site open from the arvo. I saw mates writing comments that would have been very offensive however i stopped them before hand. Instead i wrote something that was yes a hoax but a joke. Ban me if you must but was just having a bit of fun and the fact that 2 other people (patti and watts), bartlett on in the morning not arvo made it obvious it was a hoax. Im sure people on here have done hoxes too. i have seen them before posted by other members. I appoligise for what i did and arnt we all glad grimes is ok! :)

  3. Well there was a covo with KB on the afternoon radio. I heard him say that Jack grimes had done an acl. You are getting too worked up. he said only 8 months on his right acl. He also heard that bartram was injured and wonna but nothing serious. Its all i heard. I heard on SEN at the time (4pm something) as i drove into safeway to but 5 packets of maxibons, 2 cadbury chocolates, 1 pepsi and 1 salt and vinigar chips. the maxibons were on special for 5 packets for $20....$15.92 off what a special. so u see i had to run inn before they ran out. I came back to hear gumberlton was an inclusion and neagle.

  4. Yes and according to you Nathan Jones is the worst AFL player you've ever seen.

Bartlett said he was gone.... where? On one hand you heard he did his ACL and will be out for most of the season and on the other you say that KB wasnt very descriptive.

Who exactly doesnt see him as a required player at Melbourne?

I know something and I would be happy to enlighten you but fortunately for you there are rules and limiting my ability to express this in words.

    KB dont lie

  5. Please someone say it is`nt true! Is this confirmed??

He is the biggest drawcard for me this year and I will be gutted if he is gone!

I can only report what i hear. As i said Bartlett said that he was gone. He was not very descriptive as he hasnt played many afl games yet and most dont realise his talant. According to some he is not required at melbourne...

Thats all i have heard. if anyone knows anything else please enlighten me

  6. Played against the Hawks, in the side/squad to play the Swans. ??

well according to bartlett on sen, grimes has done his right acl. not as serious as some however it will keep him out for most of the season

  7. In the past week, Melbourne has had two newsworthy events

    - Support for the Red Cross on our jumper in Tassie

    - the Youth Summit

hang on, almost every club in victoria has helped out the red cross. i hardly see it as just our club. Big news, NO WAY!

  8. How can this be possible? The game is richer than ever and we have no idea at this stage if the global economic climate will have any effect on AFL spending for the current season. Most clubs memberships are already up on last year so early indications suggest it will not be the case.

Why don’t the AFL rationalise the cost of beers and pies at the ground and crunch the money hungry companies like spotless from draining the people supporting the game dry. Clubs having facilities equal to their peers is their right and will help to develop an equitable competition upon which the league can continue to prosper. The communities that hose these club facilities exist will also benefit greatly from the improvements proposed (unless it involves pokies and TABS).

The league is rich and successful because of the 16 clubs, not the other way around. Unfortunately this is rarely recognised and reciprocated.

If Melbourne is lost to the league or the ability to be competitive in future the game will lose me. I am sure I am not the only one to feel this way.

Mark my words. The MFC are in serious trouble. Clubs are announcing due to the economic climate that they will make little if any profit in 2009. Cats came out saying they expect to make a very small profit and collingwood will loose 1 mill. We are not cashed up as is and no sponcer, the smallest membership and afl funding lost we are seriously stuffed. We cant keep asking non MFC supporters for money due to last years fundraser and ordinary households have little money as it is.

  9. Two years in the system and we expect a finished KPP product. I don't get it either.

I think he's got the tools to being a good fullback too and I believe he should be groomed as that.

Groom him for his best position and with Martin, Garland and Warnock and KPP talls being worth a little bit more then usual in, say 2010. We're in a good position to trade.

Agreed. KPP take a long time. We trade him we might get a pick in 50+ but not much else. Worthy of holding onto. Give him another 2 years and then we will see.

  10. I think the issue is not the game he played but the way he conducted himself immediately afterwards. OK its a preseason game but it was a very important game for the club. He should have been hurting, a quick hand shake and then off the ground to reflect on the loss. Just my opinion.

Its good that we finally have a list that if he is not performing a younger player should be putting pressure. So time will tell!

yep i understand that and was not happy about that at all. Its better to play in NAB cup games because u can get the supporters to the game, more recognised and play on better grounds therefore reducing injury and the like. That aspect of his game i was not pleased at all

  11. Something that struck me about the game against Hawthorn was the impotence of our marking forwards (excluding Bate). With the abject failure of Newton to present as a speahead with any balls or effectiveness, I propose that we don't persist with him in the seniors for too long. Put him back to the VFL and make him demand a spot in the team. If he doesn't, then delist him. Sylvia should not be far behind him. Given that scenario, who do we rely to kick goals and create genuine pressure in forward 50. I propose this forward structure as an alternative;

    Half Forward: Davey, Miller, Bate/Green

    Forward: Aussie, P Johnson, Maric

With Aussie and Maric at ground level we need a large and powerful forward that can control ball at the contest and bring it to ground in an intelligent way. At least Johnson will present and make an effective contest. Newton's attempts are all about taking a screamer which he may do one in ten times. The other times he has no idea where the ball will end up and makes little attempt to keep the ball in the danger zone. Johnson could still relieve Jamar/Spencer in the ruck for 5-10 mins a quarter by bringing Bate or Green down to FF. Garland could also be tried at FF. We now have the stocks in defence to release Green to a more creative forward role.

With Robbo a few weeks away and the possibility of people like Jetta bobbing up later in the year and then Watts and Jurrah in a year or so then we should have great mobile forwards but we must draft for a power forward or two. This must the next priority.

Good post but remember none of the rookies are coming into the team till we either get a long term injury or wait till round 11. If PJ plays FF then Jamar is the only ruckman out there unless Meeson plays.

  12. Occo, surely this is an oversight? Sylvia...? Not in your wildest one-eyed dreams mate.

In fact any of these lists that do not include Garland are ridiculous IMO.

I actually thought he was good. If you watch the game he played somewhat of a tagging role. He made some mistakes and missed that goal but he played a good game apart from that in my opinion

  13. They are now on the list of foods that do not ever come into my household (sour grapes? hell yes!)

Christ dont take it that seriously. Boo hoo they didnt choose us. I wouldnt choose Melbourne over bulldogs if i were a company. I bet because trains are late u dont use public transport, because roads are tolled u dont drive, because primus left u will hate them to bits. Grow up. Its business thats all.

  14. I think next year there will need to be 2 delistings. For me delistings should be 2 of these 3: Jamar, Newton, Wheatley

As for trading i think its imperitave that we trade Bell. For years he has shown little and i just dont think he will ever deliver.

If we look at hawthorn, they were strict and delisted and traded players that were ok but nothing special to move forward. Bell is a fine depth player but hey we cant have that atm.
