Losing is no longer acceptable, honourable losses are no longer enough, we play tomorrow believing and expecting to win and anything less is a failure.
-
I believe this is why Roos will remain at the club in some capacity, he will not leave the dees in bad shape.
-
Was Chippa signing anything... might have looked like a contract? haha that's awesome! let's hope they get a win! GO DEES

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 10
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jimmy Toumpas was drafted because he had displayed an ability to play inside and outside, was never fast but ran hard which is exactly what he is doing for us and his skills were damaging, I am not big on the idea all players need to be fast, jimmy is smart, abit like Joey montagna or Nick dal santo, or even pendels, they aren't quick Jack Trengove in my opinion has been played out of position, and the foot injury has probably dropped his pace and penetration abit making the outside role very tough for him, I see Trenners as a centre bounce inside mid, he makes good decisions, has good skills and isn't bad in traffic, I reckon Roosy will have him back in the middle next year I don't believe the rumours that Neeld overruled Viney about Wines, sure Todd may have wanted Wines on a personal level but Toumpas was rated top 2 in that draft all year until right at the end, the only reason we didn't talk about him more earlier than we did is that we didn't think he'd be around at our pick, but that's irrelevant, I still believe Toumpas will be a very solid 200 gamer for us. -
Watching the way we have been playing it must be really tempting to jump back on board with us on the rise, hopefully he doesn't jump the gun and makes the right decision for him and his health

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 10
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
When I watch a young bloke play the things I want to see are workrate, desire, and little flashes of class, MOST young players will start off slow and build and MOST are inconsistent even when they do start to get going, but I feel the Toump has improved steadily, the next two years are about 1 getting to the point he is consistently in our best 22, and from there finding a role that suits his strengths, elite skills, gut running, leadership -
I watched the game feeling like they were being totally out worked, and not by 5% or 10% the swans ran all over them, the cats were just so helpless, it was like watching us last year.
-
I really think we can match them in the midfield, and our defence is capable to keeping their score under 100, the big question for me is can we kick a winning score?

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 10
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The interesting thing about Toumpas is I feel he has been very serviceable this year, averaging 17 touches, high efficiency, getting more physical and a few tackles, kicking almost a goal a game when he plays, and showing signs of class, the pass to Watts against Richmond was just beautiful to watch. but I think that gets missed because of the Wines comparisons, I am happy Wines is playing as well as he is but I don't have an issue with Toumps output and training habbits for a second year player. -
Hey Saty, I was just curious about the level and style of training differences between Roosy and Neeld? and are there different players starting to become more vocal with more confidence, seems like a lot of blokes have never really tasted confidence or a good run at it at AFL level, blokes like Nev jetta really seem to be showing the ability we all thought they had when drafted.

Players to target at the end of the year
Ted Lasso replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
for sure, we are very little chance and probably won't even try, but in terms of the type of player I think the team needs blokes like Mitch Duncan, i'd also like to see a really classy half back added to the side, if that be Toumpas or Strauss with a bit of development or someone from outside the club. -

Strange some of the opinions of Mitchell, I rate Mitchell as being as good a prospect as Jack Viney or Dom Tyson, if we could add another player like that to our ranks it would be great for the club. -

Would absolutely love Mitch Duncan from Geelong. -

Who would you drop from the side to put him in? -
I suppose the bonus of that is in theory when we start to challenge for a flag we should be around the mark for a while
-
if we knock them off Pj should put a contract infront of ChIp and say there is your direction and improvement.
-
I reckon we have pj til about 2016
-
I'd prob give them a second rounder for mitchell
-
75 inside 50's , 47 clearances and buddy, tippett, goodies, jetta, Reid up front It's scary
-
Super impressive hard running and kicking skills by the swans, they outworked the cats tonight
-
Pj is tied to the club for the time being as one of the conditons of us getting AFL funding for the restructure.
-
Rivers has been great, what you smoking willis?
-
they have to win the flag to justify the recruiting moves, if they don't players will ask why they are taking significant pay cuts to pay for Tippett and Buddy to not win.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Ted Lasso replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think it would be extremely unfair if the Bombers were allowed to bend the rules to gain salary cap exempt payments to the players to cover legal fee's! they got into this mess. -
Yeah, I reckon you know something is wrong when a team can win the 2012 premiership with 1 mil in the cap spare to recruit tippet and then offer the biggest deal of the modern era to a player the following year, I hope they scrap the cola and buddy retires at 32 and leaves them in tatters for being so stupid, having said that they might have won every flag up until that point the way they look tonight.
