GAME DAY at Alice Springs - Round 9
Ted Lasso replied to Henrietta Lumbago's topic in Melbourne Demons
got a feeling today is the day Jeffrey Garlett really gets hold of an opposition -
Eddie McGuire: Paul Roos "obvious choice" to fix Carlton
Ted Lasso replied to SaberFang's topic in Melbourne Demons
Shame he's contracted to another club hey Eddie? -
He is too talented to not give the opportunity, imagine if we delisted him and he found top form at another club, demon land would blow up

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 9
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think you'll find brayshaw may well be sub as he is so young and never experienced conditions like Alice springs before. -
I see what you mean lance, one element of the situation I find hard to believe is the pro Hird agenda, as far as I'm concerned the senior coach of a football club is responsible for everything that happens in the football department, especially when it's James Hird because of his status as a club legend, We've seen a huge injection program undertaken that none knows ( or is telling porkys) what was injected, their are no records to prove the substances were legal or illegal, and more troubling there is no way to know of long term effects, For me this is either cheating, or a catastrophic failure by the football department, even if nothing illegal was given, it's something they should have very detailed records of, the fact the players had to sign waivers speaks volumes imo, the blame should go squarely on Hird and all others in charge of the program and tb4 or not I think the punishment they have received doesn't reflect the level Of failure for just not having correct records.
-
What is your opinion on the missing records lance? From my point of view it's highly unlikely Essendon wouldn't have had any issue producing records if all was above board, so trying to stay open minded about the situation it's so difficult to comprehend how a professional sporting organisation could have forgotten/lost records of such a program, and The idea ASADA destroyed/lost them is ridiculous, if smoking gun evidence existed of the bombers innocence they'd have made 1,000 copies and given them to anyone who would listen. Not having a go at your view but I am curious to see/hear a well constructed argument from the bombers being innocent angle

The non selection makes sense to me, bail played his role well and Riley was never going to be selected as a defensive forward, and matt jones offers speed Club clearly felt they had enough inside grunt in jones, Viney, Vanders, brayshaw, vince, cross
-
A line was crossed the moment Essendon couldn't produce records of what they injected their players with, I suspect that alone will be looked at very harshly at CAS
-
Agreed machsy, it's far more difficult to rate young key position players because often they have a huge physical advantage over the kids they're playing on, Jesse did it against men at casey

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 9
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Will be interesting to see who cross plays on, last year he totally destroyed Polec twice and it seriously restricted their run, this year that's not an issue. I reckon we can match them on the inside -
Delistings/trades at end of the season
Ted Lasso replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think if anyone was going to make it back its Trengove, incredible character and a great leader of the club and I think on that and his potential upside is well worth the risk of another short term deal, be it as a senior list player on less money or a rookie selection. -
He's going to get hold of a defence at some point this year and kick a bag, imo he's been building each week
-
We aren't going to land shiel without offering him the mother of all contracts and there is no guarentee that even if he agreed to come to us that Jeremy Howe and or first pick would be enough, I think we'd be better off trying to get a couple of blokes from the next Teir down and developing that superstar from within Howe and our first pick for coniglio and tommlinson??

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Ted Lasso replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope we look seriously at Tomlinson from he Giants. he will be a gun imo and is probably behind a few in the pecking order at the Giants now. -
Has Tyson been ruled out?

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Ted Lasso replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon we will persist with Trengove on another short deal, and probably lose garland and Howe -
Most of his disposals have to be shots at goal... He had 21 disposals on the weekend so if they're all shots at goal I'm totally fine with that

That's where we differ faulty, I'd like to see the young men of the AFL looked after and not treated like test dummies
-
Lance, this is bigger than rules, that's what they don't get, technically they may have broken no rules, morally their conduct is close to the worst in the history of Australian sport and embarrassing to the code. If my kids were subjected to that I'd be fuming
-
The fact they undertook an injection regime of this scale and can't produce records of it should in my opinion mean every person involved should be banned from the AFL. Banned substances add another layer to what is already a disgusting situation, and I'm yet to hear a single quality argument from anyone associated with Essendon that justifies the actions of the club and certain officials. Until that happens my respect for the club and code is all but lost

Guys I've decided to apply for the Carlton coaching job, I'm not at all qualified for the position and I don't even really want it so on those two points alone id have to be a certainty
