I must admit i thought at the time it looked like the Scorps were flat and he was trying to fire the boys up a bit with it, clearly just fired the doggies up though
-
I suspect in a lot of cases the decisions have been made and the players possibly already know, or have a strong indication of which way it'll go.

Don't even bother arguing with him mate, he consistently misses the point with this, people can claim the drug agencies don't know what they're doing all they like, i am yet to see an admission from Saty that the players actions heavily impacted what they could do in this situation. when there are no records and players not putting correct information on the ASADA forms there is only so much an anti drug agency can do. of everyone in this situation, ASADA is the group i feel for the most, they've been painted as the incompetent big bad wolf out to get the poor Essendon victims. even the AFL has rubbished them publicly for threatening their precious revenue, happy to sacrifice the integrity of the game to maintain cash flow through all of this

Greater Western Sydney (a dynasty to rival the Hawks)

I've heard from a current giants player that the cultute up there isn't very good, plenty of playing favourites going on -
VFL GRAND FINAL - CASEY SCORPIONS v FOOTSCRAY BULLDOGS
Ted Lasso replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Time for a big clean out, 16 Melbourne listed players playing today, at least half of them should be gone this off season. when a team with Dunn, Garland, Trengove and Grimes can't show leadership at VFL level it really shows how far off our side has been for such a long time -

1 team wants to win, the other likes the idea of winning, and the difference is obvious, this is sooooo dissapointing, a team that has two AFL co captains in it should not lack effort in a grand final. -

Oliver is going to be a super star -
How is a drug agency supposed to do its job when players are writing incorrect information on forms and failing to keep records? Why are players shown sympathy when they at best totally failed to do something simple? I've never seen a player acknowledge their own failures just playing the victim
-
another thing is because of the way the Hogan situation sits and the raft of young players we have we can't afford to make huge offers to outside stars unless they fit perfectly. if Jesse leaves it would be awful for the club, but the picks we got, say pick 3 and another first rounder we could offer up and try and bring in someone like Tom Mitchell and go to the draft and add another young player.

At least one of the rucks i would have thought, it really depends how much they think playing today would set them back next weekend, obviously they'd love to win today and next week as well -
Like him or not tom Boyd showed huge heart tonight after roughead went off

I assume you don't believe they had any part in concealing information from the appropriate authorities and see this as just some extremely unprofessional young men who didn't understand just how careful they need to be? it's a really interesting point, negligence vs actively cheating.
-
I'm not sure we're in the position to do a trade like that this year "Redleg" or even what the Swans think he's worth in a trade, i'd say our 2017 first round pick and something else would be a starting point if i had to guess. a club like Richmond however could offer up Deledio and get a first round pick in and potentially make the move a lot easier for Mitchell, obviously he feels the money the Swans are offering isn't enough, and wants to get as close to the same sort of on field success as possible for what he feels is more appropriate remuneration
-
I think an interesting part of this is how the Hawks plan to get the deal done, if another went to Mitchell with the same sort of offer and said we can get the deal done, he might be a chance to take it because the Hawks will really struggle with this trade.
-
Out of curiosity Stuie, how do you feel about the backdated 2 year penalties, do you feel it was enough based on what they've been found guilty of?
-
Jesus, we'd get done for tanking about 20 minutes after the trade went through and Richmond would run away giggling
-
I agree in terms of their suspensions, i just feel that if the charges stand Jobe should hand the medal back, if he can't prove he did nothing wrong ( which if he could he would have already ) then he can't be sure he hasn't and it's in the interest tof the game that he hands it back. The players are very well educated on this stuff, and have to be very thorough in record keeping
-
They get a mountain of information on this Stuie, i know AFL players who ask for serial numbers on the bottles of supplements they take for their records, that's how detailed their record keeping is, and was at the time this was an issue, that is what i personally expect from professional athletes so either they cheated or they were extremely unprofessional doesn't really matter, point is they aren't blameless.
-
the players are 100% responsible for everything they put in their bodies, they're over 18 and they're professional sportsmen, it's harsh but it's that simple. the culture justification i see as being a little weak, i compare that to " all the other kids were doing it so i assumed it would be fine" that doesn't shift responsibility, just shows that these guys either tried to hide behind it, or they are quite unprofessional in how they approached it, either way, they're now convicted drug cheats and there is no way Jobe can keep his brownlow. fairest and best player in the same year he's found guilting of a doping violation.

He does seem like the sort of bloke who as "Mach5" would say, has a pretty good relationship with himself, so maybe he is keen on the Melbourne footy bubble and being in the papers every 5 seconds

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Ted Lasso replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
that's exactly what i mean, we don't lower our standards for the sake of getting a deal done, we have something they want, if it were to come to a trade, they pay up or miss out.
