  1. Michael Hibberd - MFC MFC future second round - FRE Michael Barlow - EFC this seems pretty fair all round and a good way to hang on to our second rounder this year and maybe try and do another deal or get a decent draft selection in
  2. I guess that's what i am getting at, he seems like once he has the players in the door he's very good at getting them on the same page and getting them playing the right way and that's why i think they've overperformed in making two prelims in recent years. but i also think they've made some horrible off field decisions, recruiting Waite i think was a mistake, not sure they have much if any top end talent coming through the ranks, and i reckon they'll probably have some tough times ahead, I reckon Brads leadership is amazing and it makes up for what is clearly lacking in the playing ranks but i can't see them getting near a flag unless they fix that up I reckon it's really easy to look at Brad Scotts record as coach and say he's done well with what he's had to work with, but i also think he and the footy department have made some fairly big mistakes that they'll pay for over the next 2-3 years. re
  3. It's a consideration, but i still think he should have planned this better, from the outside it seems like he's been a bit stubborn and unwilling to move on the old boys and it might have come back to bite him, imagine if they lose all of those and don't really bring anyone in outside of the draft, that could be massive. your second point i agree with 100% but i think this is exactly why he should have handled this better, maybe done it over a couple of seasons instead of all at once.
  4. I think he can coach, very highly regarded by Collingwood people, but i can't understand this move, they shouldn't have made decisions on all of those players until they knew what Wells was doing imo, losing 2000 games experience in just 5 players in one off season is massive, i compare it to some of the decisions our club made that set us back a long way, and i think we had better leadership coming through than what North does now. clearly it's not his sole decision but i would be very surprised if he didn't have the final say, it seems as though he's been told by the board they want him to re-build and he's trying to fast track that, i just think it should have been spaced over another season, maybe retire Peitre and Firrito this year, and have Wells leave, and then Harvey and Dal Santo who i'd say are still both in their best 22 play one more season while Zeibel and co really get used to the extra responsibility
  5. Be that as it may Stuie, his oversight, along with the North Melbourne footy department has lead to them losing nearly 2000 games experience in one off season, Waite being the only one they've really retained and assuming Wells also goes this is something i reckon anyone at any AFL club would tell you is a really bad idea unless you have great leadership coming through, which i don't believe North do, their leadership has always been something people have questioned, i felt they should have moved on maybe 2, 3 if Wells was staying but to lose 5 key experienced players all at once isn't ideal.
  6. I'm not sure he's much of a leader and that is the ONLY reason why a side in our position would recruit a guy over 30 years of age imo
  7. I am 100% comfortable with them getting a pick at the end of the first round, a new coach and a quality GM of footy, very similar to the assistance the AFL gave us, though not sure Fagan is in the same class as Roos.
  8. Ironically they're in a similar situation to us, he is refusing to commit to them in any real way publicly and fueling the fire himself, he's a free agent next year and they risk less compo if he leaves so the temptation to trade him this year would become real if they thought he was more likely going than staying lol
  9. It's really not that surprising, Voss and Hird had zero time as an assistant coach before taking over and while Bucks at least had a couple of years you look at guys like Goody and Barker who are closer to 10 years under multiple senior coaches and they're considered the younger ones of the guys taking senior roles, if you're unqualified for a role, you're unqualified, doesn't matter what your name is or what you've done in the AFL
  10. They've lost/given up most of their premiership side in the last 6 years, i find that amazing, how many premiership sides have had that many players leave the team within 6 years? Bucks has done an awful job, the succession plan has gone as badly as it could have and the Pies are delusional to think any different, fortunately they have some alright younger players to start a re-build around when Bucks gets the chop mid year.
  11. Loyalty vs Family he's loyal to the club because he is well aware of what we've invested in him, his mates are here and he can see where we're going his old man is crook, his family is in Perth and recent events have made the pull home very real, if he were a mate and i weren't a Dees supporter i'd say, request a trade home, ask for a 3 year deal and there is no reason he can't come back to the MFC in three years time after things with his old man have played out, if he settles in Perth that's fine to Because by then the MFC would have recieved a good trade for him this year. ut i think as long as this is going on he won't be able to make a 100% decision to stay, it only takes 1 doubt in his mind that he wants to be there and not here.
  12. Not really related to this years off season but Geez the Giants should have taken the offer from Freo for McCarthey last year, they would have netted pick 14 and pick 3 out of it for a guy who might get them a 3rd rounder just a year later.
  13. It's interesting if you listened to Jordan Lewis on AFL 360 last night he spoke about how a lot of players at the Hawks and Dogs aren't fast players but they move the ball quickly, i don't think we'll ever see Trenners streaming down the wing having four running bounces, i just don't believe that excludes him from being a good player. the club would moniter his top speed and clearly they think it can reach an acceptable level
  14. Yup, manages Paddy Ryder i believe and it's fair to say the Bombers made that as difficult as possible for all involved by demanding Wines or Wingard in a trade haha
  15. I agree 100% but if they want him, a gun mid is about all they have that would even tempt us.
  16. Shuey over gaff, but if they offered that and Hogan was 50/50 it'd have to be bloody tempting.
  17. I don't buy the they didn't really try and retain him stuff, they definitely wanted to keep him but they had to pay massive overs for Hurley and Hooker to keep them (both are on Hogan level money ) and someone was always likely to be squeezed out, our offer to Hibberd made that an easy choice for them
  18. I have read somewhere that he is looking at buying a house in Melbourne, might be an investment but something anyway
  19. i'd prefer to hang onto Dunny as a bit of back up if he's only going to net a fourth round pick, open to offering him up with something else as a pick upgrade or something could we bundle Dunn and our third rounder for their second rounder?
  20. Surely pick 26 is more than enough to get this over the line? given his age, he's had a year out of the AFL system and all the other factors around this that's more than fair
  21. Surely if he's going to play on he'd sit in the forward pocket of a side like the Bulldogs or the Hawks who should be right up the pointy end.
  22. Apparently the Pies have offered Wells 3 years and Mayne 4 hahahahahaha
  23. His injury is pretty significant so no promises, I don't believe he would have been re-signed for another year if the club didn't believe there was a realistic chance he could be a consistent AFL level player.
  24. we put the kid through hell, making him captain way to early after some good early form and then he had an injury that most thought he'd never make it back from and he did, he's earned one more crack, a full pre season and then it's fair game, he either cements his spot or he leaves knowing he just wasn't quite good enough.
