9-1 inside fifties and we are behind ....interesting
-
the Blues are up 11 points ... after going behind by 2 this is becoming interesting
-
so where were Parkside from ? Sounds like the Reservoir teams of old
-
Blues hit the front late in the third quarter. The Bomber equivalent of the Richmond microwave could be warming up !
-
do they have one of those swimming pools for the Southerners to watch the game from ?

Which of our young stars will end up our best player

yeah but if he kicked as well as he handballs he could be a legend. That is not a criticism of his level of play at present which is very good but it is a fact and this thread is about who will be the best. -
the glorious thing is that a win against Carlton by a small margin will be seen by the Bomber supporters as almost a loss while still depressing the Carlton crew. Not sure what a draw would do for the respective phsyches? God I fear a round 23 repeat next week.
-
when teams go defensive as Carlton did last year and Suns may do today, our game plan does not stand up very well as we just end up with a super crowded forward line from which the other side escapes occasionally and scores. Hopefully as in last week we relax the press a little and open up our forward line to allow it to function.

thanks .. was thinking much the same during the week. Went down I think for the third quarter last week as well as shorter outages during the week. Happy to give a little if it helps. This is a fantastic site as are the posters ! Go Dees

If Oliver increases his kick to handball ratio to 40/60 it will be him by a mile. Otherwise it's a close race between Petracca and Hogan with Hogan well in front at present. -
THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS

Lindsay Tanner interviewed today on 3AW before the Blues v Essendon game: My two take aways: No attempt to make an apology despite ample opportunity Even the media call it "the affair" and tend to blame the AFL. I am sure that in a few years it will be known as the "CAS corruption scandal" or similar. -
Interesting comments by Clarkson: Clarkson was left to lament wasted opportunities after the Hawks won a lopsided inside 50 count 62-39. But the coach also bristled at perceived injustices in the way off-the-ball blocking free kicks in the Hawks’ attacking 50 were paid. "In the last quarter we go inside 50, (Jarryd) Roughead takes a mark and they pay a free kick (against us) for a block,” Clarkson said. “Sydney block better than any other team in the competition in their back end for (Heath) Grundy and (Dane) Rampe to take those marks. “One minute later that ball goes to the top of the goal square to Rampe, Grundy and Roughead and no block is paid. “Why? ‘It’s at the top of the goal square ... I’m not going to pay that free kick’. “So those swings and roundabouts can affect the margin of the game sometimes, and we didn’t get them. “They’re very sophisticated with the way that they defend, but at different stages they’re getting away with blue murder too.” https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/may/12/hawks-coach-concedes-swans-were-better-but-bemoans-blue

the irony is that it doesn't really matter in the sense that they have all purchased their season reserve seats. At the Hawthorn v MFC match the crowd was only 41k but the AFL section was almost halved from its usual size because of all the Hawthorn reserved seat holders.

Thinking about heading to watch the Blues take on Essendon at the MCG. Sure to be a free seat or two. Problem is I'm not sure who to barrack for and neither team has a drop dead star playing that one can watch. Would be a pity if the Bombers play the Blues into some form before our game next week.... (why am I already fearing a repeat of round 23 next week).

Hopefully a good solid win building on what was a very reasonable performance last week albeit the scoreline flattered us with the Saints appalling set shot kicking. Looking forward to Brayshaw delivering a solid game on the back of his BOG last week. Would like to see the Weid get more of it in the first half than in previous weeks.

same here... a great game and surprisingly open given the conditions.
-
why not Collingwood supporters get most of their games for free. It's just another way in which the powerful clubs become more so and have done so for the last twenty years.
-
No Free to air in Melbourne ... MFC very firmly behind the paywall of Mr Murdoch
-
Lewis will play until someone permanently forces him out of the team. No one at VFL level is near that point at present. Maybe by year's end we might be having the debate (hopefully) but not now. In 2019 he will hopefully be available as great depth because that will mean that someone has taken the spot.
-
A very good game considering the conditions. Good skill levels from both sides
-
yes.. Mr Lightning Rod himself May choose a player from each game and see if we can go cryptic .. it is cold after all !

Shame about the weather in Mebourne and that Benjamin is not playing but it's great to have a couple of good teams playing on Friday night. Hawks should do it but the Swans have a way of doing the unexpected. From an MFC viewpoint I'm tending towards a Hawthorn win as it will bring the Swans firmly into that 6-12 category. (Have almost given up on us vying for top 4 so the big 4 whoever they are may as well power away. Win them all up till the bye and my optimism might return.)

good point and as it is a not for profit non taxable entity I'm not even sure they file a return... perhaps they need to do it depending upon the ownership structure of Leighoak etc. We really need to get into a period of year on year increase in membership numbers by around 3% minimum. Will be very interesting to track the Bulldogs figures from say 4 years ago and then for the next 2 as a good lesson for what we should and should not be doing if we are tracking towards the Big One.

was thinking the same thing ... wonder if the two clubs could have a chat.. unofficially of course
