Lots to be concerned about and little to enthuse.

What hurts is the thing we all feared would cost us a final did. Completely unacceptable forward structure and execution. Embarrassing back to back straight sets now on the cards. The players really let us down tonight. The first quarter was quite pathetic really given what was at stake.
Thought May and mcvee played well. Didn't rate anyone elses game

Disappointing result. More becuase it was Carlton. We were poor for large portions of the game which is a common trend unfortunately. However the last 20 minutes was fantastic from a physicality/contest point of view, just can't execute going forward. It will cost us in September unless McDonald has a massive impact.
Viney is an absolute beast. Amazing.
The Grundy selection was costly. Bowie had a poor game and lost some crucial contests.
The umpiring continues to be abysmal.

At least 2 yrs of missing finals, maybe 3 before the club wakes up. By then it's rebuild time.
Exactly my point

Unfair on Langdon.
Rest spot on.
Not so sure, Langdon is fairly ineffectual most of the time. At least compared to prior years. Running 10kms doesn't mean much on it's own.

Newsflash - we won the Premiership in 2021
Derrrrrr I mean after that. Wasted 2 years since the premiership lost in its prime. Going in the wrong direction

Time to grab Hardwick.
I know you're tongue in cheek but Goodwin is 100% the problem here. How many years grace will our soft club give this guy?

If we lose another game because of our amateur skill level inside 50 some serious questions need to asked about our training standards.
Agree, but questions need to be asked about our coaches and strategy also.

No surprise we got blown away once the weather cleared and the game opened up.

Can’t share the enthusiasm here, ‘wins’ like this paper up cracks - we are a bloody ordinary footy team and more often than not have been for a few years - we should be better than what we are, but we need to see that we are not, it’s not about the opposition, it’s about us and how we play and make decisions on the ground.
Our coaching has been sub-standard for awhile against the best and we never want to deal with the hard truth. Anyone looking objectively at our performances knows we are nowhere near another premiership - who amongst the current coaches will challenge the club with this view and cause change? Who will speak up against the mantra that we ‘are learning’, we still ‘don’t know what our best forward set up is’ etc etc - it’s always glass half full stuff from our coaches, particularly Goody - we are always ‘trying to get better’ … but unsurprisingly, never do…
my main point is we haven’t learnt, or developed any further than where we were mid way through last year, if anything we are worse. This to me comes back to our coaching which I believe is sub-standard and complacent. Our ‘window’ is closing, I’ve been following he demons for 50 years and time goes quickly and I just feel we are missing a golden opportunity with some ‘lazy’ management
Well said. Nailed it.

Carlton hit a few targets, 2 goals
That's the thing. Any team that can do the fundamentals will beat us easily

Two horrible teams. What a fall from grace by the dees. This is not finals or premiership winning football

Our premiership chances are over. The "gameplan" is abhorrent and the players are lost.
The season would be recoverable under any other coach than Goodwin. What a waste of a talented list.

Don’t use tht phrase. Annoys me no end. What on earth makes winning the premiership last year any different, other.than the disappointment of diehard fans not being able to attend? Finals played in front of crowds. Full length games. I really hate this notion that last year was some sort of undeserved premiership.
Yeah I agree, was using it in jest, but also to highlight the rubbish that gawn and co continually spewed earlier in the year about the drive to win it in front of the fans.

Well we were a laughing stock for 56 years so it's only appropriate for us to go out this way. $1.20 favourites on your home deck against an interstate side and give no yelp. Normal service resumed.
Completely arrogant season from all involved. How about talking about how we are still trying to change the culture and it is a work in progress instead of spouting off about this great culture we have after one good season. This club just doesn't understand what it takes to be at the top.
This season was a complete and utter failure. From the players to the coaches it was not only a lost opportunity to have another crack at a flag, but a terrible regression in our attitude to competing when things aren't falling into place for us.
Nailed it. Utter stubbornness, naivity and stupidity from the club this year.
What a painful second half of the season, like banging head against the wall. We were going nowhere fast and there was zero attempt to turn it around. Not one change to squad or game plan.

A shameful performance. So many moments that bordered on embarrassing. Couldn't be more disappointed with the effort, coaching and execution for a qualifying final.
Very hard to see how this team beats 3 more finalists.
-
Continually our coaching team and senior coach have failed to be able to make game plan adjustments during a season, if at all.
As has been said a few times above, time to concede our best is no where near good enough to be a contender. 5 or 6 losses in almost identical fashion against other top 8 teams and we've changed nothing. Infuriating. I don't trust this team again.

Max is being ****canned on this site!!!
He had 25 disposals - 16 kicks, 9 handballs , 8 marks.
[censored] me .... he busted a gut .... as usual
These are off the planet figures for a ruckman in any era .
English destroyed him tonight in terms of influence on the game

We haven't been a good team for 3 months, so this doesn't surprise at all, however it still hurts to see our season wither away to nothing after the 10 & 0 start.
The May clanger was definitely a defining moment in the end but we shouldn't be in a losing position after leading by 25 odd points.

This definitely feels like I'm watching the 2020 demons rather than reigning premiers. Inconsistent, dysfunctional at times and easy to coach and score against.

A proud demon tonight. enjoy the next 2 weeks as much as we can. Hopefully a dynasty is coming and we can all celebrate together at the MCG.
Gawn. Legend . All the boys well done.

Great gutsy win. Amazing what some good set shot kicking can do for a result.
