Had some great times under Bails and we certainly had a lot of hope around that time. Was unlucky with how it all panned out. From a distance he seemed like a great bloke too. Most of all, a real tragedy for someone that age to die - particularly someone with a family.

All the players wear GPS's, heart rate monitors etc. The coaching staff know to the step how hard they are working.

I reckon the importance of who is captain is overstated. It's not cricket. In reality you need as many good leaders as possible amongst the playing group. It doesn't really matter which one or more they make captain.

If the game against Brisbane was at punt rd I would've gone. Impossible for me to get to Casey. Reckon more would go to punt rd than Casey. That said, there are broader issues around the alignment that are obviously at play.

One of the problems is that clubs have to pay almost 100% of the salary cap. This means that Brisbane are paying their players the same as the Doggies. If effectively means they are being forced to being paid above market rates given their players aren't very good. If this was abolished, clubs that were poor onfield would be able to throw more money at good players. At the moment the only motivating factor for players moving is to play in a flag. Fair enough. If the salary cap thing was abolished, a financial incentive would exist for good players to go to poor clubs. Then there'd at least be a bit of movement both ways.

There's always teams that go backwards unexpectedly and teams that improve out of nowhere. Hard to say who specifically we'll beat. I don't have a very entertaining answer - I just think we'll win two or three more games than last year and play a final or two.

Is it definitely locked in we'll be playing the bombers round 1 next year?

I'm sure the recruiting dept are capable of doing more than one thing at once.

Bit heartbroken that Jack has been delisted. A Melbourne supporter his whole life, an ex club captain and a fantastic and selfless bloke - I want them all to do well, but I especially wanted Jack to do well. I remember when he first started how good he was and seemed like he'd already played 150 games. Certainly got held back by injuries, shambolic player development from the club and the fact that the game demands so much more from defenders now that it did when he started. Unfortunately life's not fair sometimes but hopefully Jack realises he has a special place in a lot of Melbourne supporters' hearts.

It means he's on a coterie or something and that sometimes the club gives him little tidbits, like the weed is going to debut this week, but not stuff as big as this.

There's 30 minutes of bad football and there's a lack of effort in a Grand Final. Astonishing really.
