Wow Culture is such a small word for what is such a complex idea. Club culture is a small part of the culture of the country or race but nonetheless it does exist. I have been concerned that people have identified a new coach as necessary to change the culture of the club or here that the culture stems from the leadership group. While both of these are true to some extent "the culture" must be embraced and inclusive. There is no point in the leadership group wanting to attack down the centre if the rest want to go round the flanks and the general wants to attack with long bombs from the rear. These though are tactics in the battle or the game I understand that a new coach wants to bring his winning culture to the club and will set his resources and tactics to achieve that, but if he is concentrating on changing the club culture and not on the part of the culture he has direct control and responsibility for then I may get concerned. If the club culture tells the coach to honour its aging players at the expense of winning then that fundemental clash may not allow him to achieve his personal culture. If instructed to develop or instructed to lose that instruction may clash with the culture of a club that demands only win at any cost. As I said this is such a complex area and I did study this too long ago as part of my professional development that I have almost forgoten how it is to be applied in an organisation. I shall return to my research and thank you all for your contributions to the intellectual stimulation that Dland brings. I certainly dont think I am correct or the sole sourcxe of all knowledge and welcome alternative insights But maybe thats my culture???

My thought is thanks for pointing him out. He may /may not make it but I haven't seen him and there may be plenty at the club who haven't but thanks to you they may well now look. Keep the faith. GO DEES

Yeah OK I get it players need to be hard and crunch tackles especially highly rated draft picks OH but sometimes those hard at it types get injured and cant be covered Oh and some of those soft players become bigger and harder as they grow like Tom Hawkins or even a bloke named Watts Oh and some dont grow big and crunch packs all the time like Robbie Flower or Keith Greig coz they're just not bloody big enough BUT I think that if you have the right squad there is a place for all of them I agree Morton may well be playing foir his future and he may be soft but I still wish him well and hope he contributes to a victory as a begginning of the Demon resurgence.

Would they constitute "draft tampering"???

Hey now I've seen em I really hope I win oops the dees win by my appointed amount Hell I'LL take any win really. The product looks great including the website If thats you in the photos the life style looks oK too. I am going to be careful if you ever step into the debate about the "elephant in the room"

Howe to forward pocket Blease to flank but great start ONly thought then is what is the support in the squad lets not forget them should someone anyone go down injured especially cos there are still youngish perhaps undermatured bodies in that lineup but Oh the potential and isnt that what we were promised BN (before Neeld)

Still havent seen THE side But would be very disappointed if we do not beat GC. This is the development side and while they do have much propping up by AFL and GAblett We should match our developing players against theirs as we did with the Suns. It should come down to the blend of mature and youth as our skill should match them definitely requires our more matured bodies to set the example Would like to see Morton play against similar sized and developed players but will depend on the makeup of the side Expect 45 point plus anything else would have to have serious reasoning

Im probably biased as a qualified HR professional Its a Bachelor of Business degree HR is more than a hire / fire function and more than Psyche tests Maybe you need to psyche test the hirers I think TD did say the tests as part of selection and I would agree with that and also with you rpfc that it is the best candidate as footy coach. I trust that the club does have some qualified HR people on board and if not they couldnt do worse than train some up. I did ny degree part time and found plenty of research and supporting evedence for my studies while watching the Dees, its an ideal environment matched only by Dland for exposing the variables that make up an organisation, Oopss its getting tooo messy now better leave it at that.

POLL: Do you want Mark Neeld to remain coach in 2013?
dpositive replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Liked this but for last sentance I did vote and not necessarily for Neeld but for the club and contract integrity Its still too bloody early to tell and I am in the I expected better from Neeld as a teacher analyst coach and am concerned that he is a bit one dimensional inflexible and maybe even wrong. I didnt expect him to change the total playing list and did expect him to get improvement from MOrton (now theres a challenge) Watts (that was almost too easy) and others. He has been given improved FD and resources and has capacity to add Cloke if he wants (Clarke certainly worked) and others through draft but as coach HE still has to get them to work together and get success. The plaers have to believe in him and Im prepared to say that I do for the moment When I have seen enough of his performance with the resources I may change my vote That will be do we give him an extension or find somone who can use the resources to get some success.. -

Always on the roundabout Dland provides the ride Did like the seebohm mention Yeah 2nd in the world! not a bad spot. Perhaps we do need to align some of our players performance with that standard but more importantly disappointed at not being No1. -
Tune in to SEN now - KB to bring up tanking sanctions for Melb.

POLL: Who Needs To Go? ... The Fans Decide
dpositive replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
I havent voted and still cant get my head around the conflict that RR and Ton introduce. I was aqualiifed and practicing HR Manager in my previous life and Hiring, Firing, Organisational structure, and productivity were issues we dealt with in organisations as large as 800 staff. You cant always blame the Manager or the leading or the apprentice rather you you need to evaluate the circumstances. Yes its Culture and we have identified its being changed This usually takes time (years) the coach has been given 3 years acknowledging he needs to see results at year2 so at least let him do that We should not want or be able to change all the staff and we should also see the coach(and line coaches) getting the best from what they inherited. Some or all will not match up as has been clearly described on Dland to get maximum success and we will see new players and some discarded Provided there is honesty in the approach players are given direction on what is required and opportunity to match that and reason for being kept or let go it would seem fair to the player This then leaves the responsibility for success to the coach unless he too has been given direction Ie we cant let the worst performer go and that stops achievment. Ultimately the board takes responsibility in either supporting or not reappointing the coach Again clear communication of the reasons is all that I ask I am not aware of any of the circumstances other than the lack of a win. I will support the team and the club as I have through the past and hope that the decisions of the Board and the coach are correct and that the team will respond to give me some joy of victory rather than continuing to develop my character through defeat -
I run a retail outlet 7 days and try and read every day and in between customers Respond with likes depending on content and my mood contribute occasional posts usually stimulated by comments There is a definite cycle which was the same cycle when I lived in Melb and attended every game positive vibe until the match began then disappointment when lose Always searching for the few positives to sustain usfor the next match This has been going on for years support is sustained from the euphoria of a win, the memory of minor success or even the fact that something was done well I am watching the Neeld way and hoping that the optimism is not misplaced But would like to see some flexibility in approach and some indication of how he as ateacher is going to improve the players we have Dont see the answer in a cull.

Unfortunately too much to like in this post Wit and sarcasm levels exceed the results we are getting It does make you wonder if our coaches read this site as there is much valuable material for them to take note of.
-
Thanks KC and others even the day after its a good read Maybe Couch Gysberts and Morton are developing something as a unit down there at CAsey that could be valuable going forward. Do Couch and Gysbert do the heavy lifting and provide Morton the outside player with some ball? Could that be the sort of thing that a coach can do by using the attributes of different types to get the best out of them. Maybe rather than promoting one at a time we need to expose a combination
-
I'd like to see this as well BUT I am despairing that Neeld has a way Maybe he is letting the players show him what theyv got but it sure doesnt look like much I am concerned that there is so much talk of the big cull or the miracle draft We have a list of players who have some skill or skill deficiencies the coach should be usinmg the skills he has and training them to improve their deficiencies. Use examples like Jones for effort Watts for skill and tell Morton thats what he mneeds to aim for (just using 3 examples) Watts took the call to do more but is limited with his body size to replace mitch Jones couls replace mitch for effort but obviously cant play his forward role so there are obviously some things that cant be changed BUT i thought at season start that we had a reasonable squad of shorts talls mids forwards defenders and havent seen them played in position and for the time that they might fitness and the injury list is obviously a problem and hopefully after a hard working off season we will see better results next year There must be some hope as the Caseys are doing ok so a winning attitude can be developed Forgot where I was heading with this BUT there are a lot of BUTS.

This is an interesting point and reflects many of the coulda shoulda quotes about ricky It does however point to the coaching. Arent they supposed to get the best out of the player and use them in the role that best suits their talent. Or at least let us know what is wrong (ie injury) If ricky was talented at forward defence (tackling) that would seem to be a role the coach (hardest team to play) would want to exploit. Maybe we just didnt get the ball enough into the f50 and there wasnt enough other defensive forwards to really benefit rickys strength. Would hate to see him go to another club who use his strength aginst us because of better structures/ plans/ coaching But if he really doesnt fit our list then at least try and trade effectively as othrers here are suggesting for someone that does fit our requirements.

Must admit I was surprised to see the original from Ton as well. But Goose he may be and arent we all at some stage but this does reflect a more positive attitude from Ton We need to show some tolerance when there is a softening of bile so lets just like it and hope the mood continues. I think its also Ok to criricise one performance eg as coach and support a different role Eg asst so maybe the softening is only in my interpretation. Hope not and look forward to many more likes.

Re the decision making process What would his success been at applying a front on tackle aginst a player at speed? Arrival was hastened by the leap and it does appear he realised collision was on and braced himself while the exposed Carlton player had no such opportunity. He did appear to arrive at the ball before the Carlton player who was exposed by looking over his head and had arms out wide Had Z not jumped impact would not have been as brutal Had the carlton player braced for a collision impact would not have been brutal or injurious for him But had bothplayers been open for recipt of ball and for tackle impact for both may have been worse Would z be instructed to do same again? would Carlton player be instructed to do same again?
