Certainly not deluded DL Rj and yourself present very coherent ataements to indicate why we could add Chappy and Cross to our mix Contract them wisely on performance not tied to game statistics only and we could see a great improvement
-
I would have little doubt they would have done their intensive work t is why they are looking for a return and they now have a strengthened position to negotiate their contract I was merely stating that any other club (including Richmond)could benefit from the reality now evident and contract Martin much more rigorously to achieve greater control. I am also concerned by the reports of his character and mentors. There would need to be scrutiny of that factor and maybe included in contract I think I stated earlier that I regretted MFC would not appear able to manage this complex situation and further I would be pleased when we have the confidence to do so

Ok can conceed that I guess I think we have already got a greater deal of underutilised talent an am hoping the coach can rectify both those deficiencies through inspired training, match day and management strategies. So yes can concentrate on skills of our decent player base (HAdnt thought of port)

Absolutely brilliant Does this qualify for best comment of the last year or is it an early contender for next?
-
"I feel like I've got a lot to give," he said. "The fire still burns, and I want to be more successful than what I've been Even if he can teach that to our young players he would be valuable Cross would also be great from the reports of his training ethos Both could help this club with its plethora of unfulfilled talent We now have the coach with a similar desire to achieve more success and enhance an already premier reputation

I noticed the num,ber of times that the hawks kicker had multiple options as the ran into space and worked hard also the number of times the player disposing of the ball shepherded the player he gave the ball to that is what provided the time for a better delivery, Second and third efforts were also noticeable Both sides also attacked the ball and the player about to get the ball constantly As there were few times the umpires paid incorrect tackling or incorrect disposal the effort was usually rewarded

Thanks JM for that info It confirms my ill informed but persistent expression that it aint the players but the coaching that has been the most significant issue for many years at our club As with any recent premiers it is the overall team composition using the skill they possess and having strategies to maximise those skills that gives the basis of performance. Placement reaction and the ability to absorb pressure and still perform are then the elements that give an edge. Not everyone is a champion but they contribute to add to the champion input. I hope Roos can instil the attributes of team work and team cohesiveness that great teams have. We then have the icing on the cake with some latent elite performers . By elite I mean those who perform above their normal on big occasions. Something like that it is still a bit early on Sunday but good post by you

I agree there is need for informed risk assessment Careful contract consideration with explicit and clear instruction could provide the compromise with reward based on performance and behaviour. Clear enunciation of requirements, responsibilities and reporting mechanisms to achieve payment could result in an excellent return on investment

On the other hand she may well be just help orchestrate an advantage for the Tiges who may now be able to contract him for less and use this as a weapon to establish some more control Another club with astute contract provisions could bid low to get a troublesome gun It could also make those provisions solid enough to include severe penalties for any infractions. It would be good to think Melbourne could do this but probably only Roos can know,

Thanks BF on TV I thought they were doggies Red white and Blue Now I have another team to support through finals although it is a pity about Melbourne (Storm)
-
How do I say this without drawing a multitude of supporters of the "he is [censored] weak" style or "he lacks ticker" etc they are not required as he has had plenty of them and I do not totally disagree. However I would rather that he plays the "tough hard football"when his body is able to absorb that punishment or there are others around him able to provide equivalent support. I would prefer his skills to be used even if on the periphery of contests than have him in the injured room where many tough no compromise players end up. He is still relatively young and slightly built compared to others and I reckon Roos will develop him as a player as his body develops. Roos can maybe recognise the features of similarity with A Lynch

Its a grand old flag Milawa version was not only sung for the senior victory reported previously But I was informed last night that the Milawa football and netball teams won every grand final at every level in the league last week. The 4 netball teams included teams that had not lost a game for the season and the under 17,s was the only flag they didnt win as they have a combined whourouly milawa side perhaps we need to send some of the melbourne boys up to learn a little bit about the path to success. Its a a grand old flag and a grand old club
-
Further to my previous re success of Milawa demons. Are there any other red and blue finalists in other leagues?
-
Its good to see the demon colours triumph across the nation Milawa had a comprehensive victory over Glenrowan in the grand final Dont know that there's any prospective recruits and imagine there will be plenty of Brown Bros product consumed as well as the usual Mad Monday ale.

Wow Master that is a fantastic appraisal of the pies It does match your usually considered opinions on other threads thanks for the detail. hope it makes them continue where they are going and we can pass them as we go up and they go down.

No sorry Chook if thats what it seemed, I wasnt saying Roos fired him. More that I am disappointed if we are paying out because they cant work together. If it was prearranged that does not seem like an efficient arrangement for the club. It would be interesting to know more about the reasons for the termination. If he decided to move on if he didnt get the job there would be no need to pay him out I f initiated by Craig why should we pay out at all. If there is an indication that he would not perform with the club then he would be dismissed without any need for payment.
-
Its a little disappointing if this is an indication that Roos who is only committing for 2 years cant accept the presence of NC who has elite skills and plenty of experience, appears well liked by players and supporters, and has a reputation within the industry that provides plenty of positives. I would have thought if he leaves to improve his circumstances or because he feels uncomfortable that is fine but to pay out another contract getting no value for it seems a pity I also think NC did all that was asked by the club and always presented in a professional manner. He should have no trouble taking his skills and experience to another organisation. I wish him all the best

Just a great site and a fantastic effort to keep it so cheap Dont even mind the limited ads. I think I can say some of those mature ladies add a bit of "sex appeal" -
Well I have been thinking about this for some time and have seen that there is a diversity of opinion on Jack so will add mine I admire the courage of a kid with a diverse skill set accepting a number one ranking knowing the scrutiny this would place himself under I admire the courage of a kid double and triple teamed, monstered by an opposition set on intimidation in his first match, with little support from teammates I admire the courage of a kid surrounded by teammates without his heightened skills unable to use him to advantage I admire the kid turning up week after week being thrown around by coaches wanting to cover deficiencies with one of the few skilled resources they had I admire the courage of a player not throwing himself into situations that would result in injury I admire the courage of a player not lasing out and being suspended I admire every player who pulls on the demons jumper knowing they will receive little support from the umpires when they are shoved in the back or hit in the head I admire the courage of jack watts in taking the time to consider his future career possibilities when he is about to enter the most critical stage of his career development I hope the club get this right so that all Melbourne supporters can continue to admire his courage as he helps our team to some long overdue success

Wholegrain bread I hope to enhance the nutritional benefits of the peanut butter and banana combination. Like a good team the attributes of each individual component needs to be recognised and enriched with an appropriate combinbation of different yet complementary values. With the right strategy I could see that this could become the match day supplement to put MFC ahead of the rest just like Hirdy and essendun OH Wait..........

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

I thought I saw a post earlier in the saga where it was reported from a news item that Danks and the weapon were also at Geelong. Was Thompson aware of his practices, What was he fined 30,000 for? -
While I am very nervous stating this I would hope if you are correct that that is one of the KPI. Hell pay him a percentage of increase if necessary. BUt and I am a fan of Poos I would hope he is coming to further enhance his record by showing how a he can enhance and influence a great club not just for the money but for the recognition that Melbourne bestows on champions. I saw Roos play, had close mates who were Roys supporters and went to some of the fitzroy meetings in their final years Roos was seen by some as a bit of a pariah but by others as a bit of a visionary acknowledging what could be rather than what was. I have seen some of his comments at Sydney in the same light and hope that he is continuing this philosophy. I hope he sees us a another challenge to improve rather than a cash cow. I trust PJ and the board are establishing this. I think his credibility as a coach and player will entail with with a respect that will improve all our players. Bonus if we have the panel suuggested above with Ling etc

Not quite the same league Sorry to divert you but I was in a state of near exhaustion and was playing with a new technology tablet (not the Essendon type) while the cycling race (LA Vuelta) was on in the background Orica do resonante as doing many things well and I include the latest, (a quote from one of the cyclists re-signing for another season "The team spirit is the most important thing for me. It’s a team full of fighters. We don’t have a lot of riders on paper who can win big races, but we’re always there. In the team’s first year, people didn’t think we’d get results because we didn’t have a lot of big names, but we did. That’s because of the team spirit.” This is an Australian team including other nationalities which has indeed exceeded expectations As I said MFC could do well to observe their practicesa

MFC could do worse than watch LA Vuelta and emulate the culture and character of the Orica Green edge team
