Umpire: McMurray Snr Did the change from a Crapp umpire improve the result?

Just saw the Orica Greenedge team has a new alignment with Etixx sports nutritionist. All guaranteed ethical and drug free medical practice for cyclists. I know of the reputation of cyclists but it is now under more international scrutiny . Could be a good alliance for MFC to look at. Marketing opportunities, health and fitness improvement and access to increased medical knowledge and products

I think it was a quick google reference did point out a history of management and football but did not identify any part time lecturing at Phillip Institute but I reckon from my recollection of his stories thats who it is. He was a fantastic lecturer and we all got through with an improved understanding of management.

Leaders wether footy, any sport or any organisation usually combine the features of Thinking, Caring, Doing that comprises the group. They are able to support the members of the group usually by identifying/ displaying the trait of the member and adding to any deficiency. Ie supporting the member who is a Doer but not thinker by helping them think through a situation. By helping the person who is thinking about their task but not doing it, by helping the person who is sacrificing what they do by caring too much about what others think. This is a very simplistic outline of what is a very complex sophisticated and much studied area. I had a lecturer in Organisational Management who was a senior Member of the Hawthorn coaching team at the time (early nineties) I think his name was John Hook (must look it up) He outlined the above in what was a stimulating and enjoyable course. I was always conscious of this simple definition and added a lesson from another mentor which was that leaders always emerged despite who you might think/appoint. Appointment is often strategic or done to reflect, sometimes not to challenge, presumed attributes. Great Leaders are also usually flexible able to drift into the key aspect of the above features to strengthen where necessary and achieve visionary outcomes. Who is it at MFC?. I am not close enough to identify and would have to overcome my own prejudices and lack of knowledge of the players and the organisation. I am hoping that Roos with his own time frame and wanting to leave a legacy with Jackson who has shown great organisational ability will be able to identify and put in place a structure that helps our team leaders emerge. I think they can.

Its very encouraging to read the reports which show there are options for all positions. This gives some security for injuries and surely allows a greater team flexibility to match up against opponents. The need for management (rest and recuperation) is also possible where there are numbers competing for the same position. This management can also allow the team to include a young player at the appropriate time and not be expected to be the messiah. -

The word I like is intensity. It has been mentioned by more posters than I can recall in past years You can even see it a little more in the muscle structure in the pictures and the eyes focus. Cant remember seeing this in the photos from past years. Maybe the quality of the reporters but thanks everyone GO DEES -
Saw the article on the News yesterday that the White house is disposing of rugs that were mistakenly produced with an error "IN DOG WE TRUST" maybe you can put in an offer......... or your dogs might?

have stated before that here in Beechworth we have the famous Beechworth Brewery as well as our extensive range of Wines so its always worth a road trip here. But To add I have also found that the vigneron of "Mount Pilot" wine, (Lachie Campbell) is a Melbourne supporter. He now follows this site and we enjoy stimulating conversations when he visits The Provender our leading wine shop I have the advantage of seeing his wine tasting days and there is always an opportunity to reset the palette but anyone can enjoy his wines which I recommend. Would be pleased to see any comments from fellow supporters as there is obviously interest in the topic.

2015 MFC Training Camp Maroochydore

How will we be able to discern that you are "more mentally unstable than ever"? -
True Armstrong only valuable as example of the impact of process and commercial impact. That profile and position means nothing. So perhaps Chinese swimmers?
-
Maybe they have discovered that ASADA powers include the ability to monitor telephone records and not just meta data.

Agree with what you say but this is still hypothetical and it would be better to have a real example especially from our own code. I imagine the unfortunate Saad would be an extreme example. It is interesting to contemplate how the generation that is raised on virtual reality can be made to understand the consequences of non virtual reality. The involvement of gambling and the effects of unfair advantage contradicting each other and the concept of sport as entertainment also confusing the understandings. Unfortunately the reality is that no Essendon player has "been found guilty of anything" and so it adds to the unreal universe that these isolated performers inhabit.
-
Well Had the Essendon example been finalised it would provide a fine practical example. As it is the biggest alternative example would be Lance Armstrong.
-
Hope there is an increased focus on drugs in sport and the responsibility of the player. A pity there is no practical example that can be shown.
-
I would have thought as Lamashtu says that no retrospectivity could be applied. But I also think this shows a degree of significance with the issue (drugs in sport) that has not been matched by the action against Essendon. While action has been glacial, most due to the uncompromising opposition of Hird and Little there must be a significant decision to uphold the importance placed on drug cheating. The continued appeals does seem to have allowed Essendon to retire or replace those who are affected. As others have stated what impact any Workcover and player compensation actionwill have on the club is incomrehensible. Any employer who allowed and insisted on a "pharmacalogical experiment" being undertaken by their employees would certainly have been in considerable trouble. I am still thinking justice delayed is justice denied and believe the public deserves an outcome.

It seems likely any country would see BBO as a significant incursion threat He may be lucky that Scott Morrison has moved on or he may not get back in

How do we attract more members to this Forum?
dpositive replied to CBDees's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe would be good to attract more people if a counter of the likes was available on the menu post. This would allow those with limited time to see the topics that were receiving the most attention. I understand this may be not be a true reflection of worth as I often forget to like some comments as I follow the quick repartee. Also many comments contain something I like and something that I disagree with. I feel it is not worth responding as time has passed or further comment picks up my concern I usually then like that comment to save myself the time and repeating argument. There is however then no recognition of my delayed like. -
Elsternwick Park - anyone heard about this?
dpositive replied to pitmaster's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gee hoopla I found myself agreeing with every aspect of your post. Probably more information is needed. It doesnt really affect me directly as I dont get down to the games so much, certainly not to Casey We need a dedicated base and we need to identify with the local community. The team should be badged as the Casey Demons. Players and coaches should be encouraged to live near there and be part of that community. We must however keep our MCG alliance as the Melbourne Football Club Demons. One of the founding clubs of football. The history of the club needs to be implanted into the expanding regions of Melbourne. Success on the field and competitive and entertaining matches will give us more exposure and will grow our supporter base. -
How do we attract more members to this Forum?
dpositive replied to CBDees's topic in Melbourne Demons
I too agree with the general tenor of the thread. I enjoy the read and dont always have time or inclination to respond. Usually I send some worthless contribution that at least makes me feel better. I do really appreciate the quick, witty and often very clever irony that just seems to spark especially from those contributors who know each other well and have continued sniping at each other until they run out of said clever invective. They usually keep me entertianed as I hope it is is friendly rivalry and not real hatred. The discussions usually bring out the best lenes so please please dont moderate them out of the game. I reckon moderators do a great job usually letting contributors know when they are getting out of hand. So Yeah I enjoy Dland -
Talking Point: Improvement - how far can we go in 2015?
dpositive replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
We certainly have an improved look with a mix of experience and youth. We have a solid core of 23-26 year who have exhibited good skills spasmodically. We appear to have more competition for spots through the squad. This depth provides cover for injury. We have a coaching team that provides the necessary support and advice for players. We have a coach with a proven record of success We have supporters who are hungy for success and have shown all the traits that our players need to inspire them to perform including persistence and resilience. The players need to perform to their maximum ability and must leave the ground each week having exhausted themselves. The above support team will manage them through to the next encounter selecting the right team to match the following week. Those who perform best constantly will be played constantly, those who need rest and recuperation will have it with adequate replacement. If the resources are managed we can easily make it to the eight irrespective of how much other clubs have improved. We are then in the finals and a new season begins. Again We have a coach who has been there and knows how to get the best from the team ANYTHING can happen GO DEES -
Talking Point: An uncompromised fixture
dpositive replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
While I grew up with all games on Saturday the reality is the game has spread reach with alternative nights, interstate promotion etc. Monday night would be a television game only and competing against NRL so attractive to broadcasters and advertisers. Rights should be at premium so discounts could be given for those attending as a promotion exercise similar to subsidies paid to interstate clubs in set up. Thus a bonus could be achieved by the club to benefit existing members, provide remote supporters with increased coverage, grow the supporter base by exposure. The most important thing is to win these games to receive the maximum benefit. Go for It Dees
