  1. Thought myself while watching. When he got the ball instinctively prepared to give off but had no option or option was in a worse position than himself. Went looking for second or third option and couldnt find one or was tackled while in the process so it didnt come off. As the confidence improves with the group and they provide better support both options and shepherding his outcomes will be better
  2. Displays why Tex is one of the best Fantastic presentation thanks for posting Jack
  3. Great interview format and well prepared and presented. Hope Noodles microphone technique improves as he becomes more familiar with and confident in this role.
  4. Id like to know the tackles that result in a free kick. esp in the back tackles. We seem to give em but rarely get em. Could be a technical matter. ie too much rugby style. Perhaps picket?? who gave us the complete Hogan kicking analysis piece may have some knowledge. PS I hope someone from the club got given that excellent technical detail.
  5. Thanks for your comment I have sent my entry on this thread to WADA
  6. While I can understand that the tribunal was not comfortably satisfied of substances injected into players, while they were comfortably satisfied that Danks did handle drugs, as there are no records, and no player or support staff has revealed any evidence as per Armstrong, WADA must act to ensure its relevance. To allow this defence when the Brownlow medalist admits having injections under a regime that publicly espoused "whatever it takes" directly confronts its authority to ensure no performance enhancing drugs are to be used to gain an advantage in sport. The intention of the players and the club are obvious. The AFL appears to have been complicit in the failure of the case wether by incompetence or design. WADA will need to devote greater rigour to obtaining evidence than shown by the combined ASADA/AFL process. Do they have powers to force Danks, dr Reid, Hird, Watson, Demetriou, the pharmacists chemists etc to appear? Do they have powers to examine police and government claims of criminal activity? Can they impose international standards including intent in the Australian internal sports jurisdiction? Until and unless they do the game we follow is sullied. We must remind every follower and every commentator of this and that Essendon have provided an example that can be claimed by every club at every level and can provide an example to society at large. It is no wonder we have av Ice problem in the country. Drug use occasioned by no records but plenty of players with intent can draw great comfort from the Essendon model of success. I am beginning to appreciate the original claims of the blackest day in Australian sport commentary. This situation has the potential to undermine the reputation of sport within the society.
  7. That's what he said but where is the proof to support that, isn't he obliged to know. And why do Essendon have that email, but no record of the actual injection regime?????
  8. Have you seen the training thread?????
  9. Interesting metaphorical allusions to team tactics, systems and breakdown of procedure. Especially the disjointed set of partially formed ideas. Hopefully our players are grasping these more refined intellectual juxtapositions and are able to increase the allegory quotient to deploy opposition incursions. Perhaps later using alliteration and onomatopoeia to completely stop them in their tracks. While engaging them in a discourse of cerebral ephemera some our more linguistically challenged can just go about the actual scoring part of the game. I just hope the rebuild and renewal will take less time to learn the the actual game of football that seems to have challenged many for some time now.
  10. This matter further demeans the club the competition and sport in general which is why WADA must take action. Jobe Watson admitted his club gave him injections the year he won the highest award in the competition. As an athlete he played in an international game. He did not know what the injected substances were which he is obliged to know. What part of comfortable do we need to refer to. He is tainted, the award is tainted, the game is tainted. It is so so sad
  11. Can ASADA , WADA or any one else force Danks to give evidence? He constantly claims he will tell all in an appropriate court and didnt see the procedure so far as constituting that court. Under oath He could confirm the results of his tests, he could confirm that the records were at Essendon, he could confirm who he gave them to, he could outline the program including the placebos and blind tests that were conducted he could identify any other person involved in the trials the nurses who gave them the doctors who tested etc. This would appear to be new evidence or have the Essendon club protective systems ensured blind and devoted loss of memory which would make any such course of action a further waste of time. And as others have said INTENT must surely be the overiding factor. Essendon intended to do what ever it takes to gain an advantage and even had this as their club slogan That this included taking performance enhancing drugs is probable but not proven.
  12. I must watch the replay but from my memory of what I saw at the ground, DAwes had contests with poor delivery. Often he was one in a pack of 2 or 3 melbourne players. There were many times that the ball spilled and there was no Melb player down. Dawes did chase and harrassed and caused turnovers but was by himself with no support. There really did not seem to be too much teamwork. I think Roos alluded to that fact and hopefully they work on that. havent seen any training reports this week.
  13. Yeah I agree . I have been asking TDI about intensity at training so not sure how that relates to the actuality of an opponent who does the unexpected. Form is certainly fleeting but the confidence in your ability is the aspect I would expect Roos to concentrate on. That and getting the umpires adviser or similar down to a training session and asking what we are doing wrong with our tackling where we seem to giva away kicks when applying a tackle but never receiving frees when pushed even ridden in to the ground with a player on our back. also the number of players we have who get injured in the head with no free kick awarded is odd. We have no backs and no necks perhaps we need to adress that with the league. Not complaining too much though as the number of times we fell or pushed each other over was amazing.
  14. Thanks Azz. I have written a few posts trying to purge myself of the disappointment while trying to put my finger on what went wrong. Still not sure I've got it but I am starting to feel better. We were in the stand on the outer wing and play was congested nearly all day and either in front of us or on the other side of the ground. In the first quarter we did spread but there were many times when there was none in the forward of the centre when we got possesion to attack later they dropped one back but the number of times they had two or three behind and well behind the game i lost count. Watts isolated himself a lot but usually to stop their run rather than being an attacking option but GWS just played down the opposite side of the ground. Cannot believe the number of times I saw us compete with each other and if the ball dropped into one of our hands we just ran into a pack of GWS players .Lumumba was a prime example. Plenty of effort but no just not in the right way
  15. Perhaps they could base these sides at regional level to utilise improved facilities and broaden coaching and support resources while improving transition practice.
  16. Was at the ground They looked all right during the warm up etc and while playing poorly fumbling. dropping marks, overrunning etc were able to lead as GWS were worse. Seemed almost over confident and spent it before they had it . Then when GWS improved they started to get desperate and wnet up for marks together resulkting in spillage which the GWS picked up and delivered to the free player. Structures and teamwork disappeared and individuals wanted to wrest the game back and committed similar errors due to over desperation. There was effort there was desire but it was all misplaced or misdirected
  17. In the first quarter we fumbled and dropped but had room and time to recover. We did not put on scoreboard pressure because our possession was in their part of the ground. We had no one deep and no one running deep. In the second half the game was still played in a congested fashion with no one spreading. Hogan was great but was contesting to far up the ground. Dawes was still competing against two with no one in front of and behind the pack Howe was flying for everything but with teammates and neither were marking. GWS sat down and roved off our spillage and always had a spare player as we had knocked each other out. Put Howe in the pocket tell him he must NEVER go outside 50. Let Jesse go wherever he wants. Make DAWES go in a different direction to Hogan Kick to Dawes or Hoganand if covered just bang it to inside 50 to one off Howe Just some ideas
  18. And tonight on talking footy Watson expresses real concern that a player who was concussed may play next week. dr tim is seriously concerned about players welfare and their health being compromised. WOW
  19. Can't add much. Visited the nations capital, not much wasp activity witnessed. Enjoyed some great company and wines from a wide variety of areas. Most were aged and encouraged reflection on the pst. That's both the company and the wines. Unfortunately the reality of the present intruded as the current, playing group, which promised so much, continued the playing patterns of the immediate past to deliver a result, made more humiliating by the presence of 2 former Carlton supporters equipped with Giants regalia, who sang the Giants looney toons theme song after every goal, interrupted only by weary questions of, "where have the demons supporters gone" "can't hear you" etc. It was embarrassing for us, but even worse for the new generation of a 4generation supporting family in front of us. There was certainly no joy, no encouragement and no respect for us. Our limited response was restricted to a comment that the humorous commentary of these increasingly more euphoric supporters was similar to Abbott and Costello...........(the politicians not the comedians), and the hope that their support will have as much disappointment and pain as has been inflicted on demon supporters for so long. Unless you were there it is hard to convey the impact that this game inflicted. Expect greater discussion of non football related matters until our players understand the significance of their action. I may be able to comment on football threads but it will unfortunately be more negative than my sig name conveys. I will try not to wallow in misery and may need your assistance as I continue to enjoy your personal revelations and wit.
  20. Was at the game having made the trip from beechworth. Should have stayed home they won. Pre match talk was upbeat from the coaches robot presented. Spirit was good in the stands. Two quarters of fumbling footy, dropped marks but we were ahead. Sure didn't make use of our opportunitys and sure the umpiring and standard of play was pathetic but we were in front. The teammate least had a bit of spread and supported each other although there were too many occasions when we were competing with each other. ThenGWS stayed out of those contests and ran across and around each other while we took each other out of the contest or delivered to 2 or 3 on1 contests or ran into them from the contest. Sure the umpiring was still pathetic but GWS just grew in confidence while we became more and more frustrated. Our fumbling was increased out of the frustration while GWS became more confident. Dawes and Howe dropped everything and Dawes was still double teamed. Jesse was playing his heart out. Watts was out of the contests and GWS just kept it away from him. Our forwards were too far up the ground and so many times there was no one to kick too GWS had numbers deep in defence and slowly our pressing was overwhelmed as they kicked over or around or few tries. I despair. I even yelled out the window IM NOT HAPPY,! but still just feel so so deflated. This was rubbish. PJ at the lunch said it was about respect and everyone doing their part. It certainly didn't look like that out their today. I hope the players have a good hard look at themselves and see the difference in their performance from week to week and quarter to quarter.
  21. Thanks for the news OD will share with the NE vignerons I know. There are some winemakers here with close contacts in other areas so it will be an interesting comparison point.
  22. WOW that is disturbing news We are coming off bumper crops of magnificent grapes in all the North East. The concern is what to do with the the large quantity of last years not so good which were kept after a few years of small yields of excellent quality. Price points are being put into interesting perspective. The euro wasps have been bad but I havent heard they affected the harvest.
  23. Well I have seen Watts run his opponent ragged, Ive seen him make space, Ive seen him run at the right angle, Ive seen him double back and have no-one to give it to and Ive seen him ignored by teammates, have teammates fail to deliver, have opponents recieve the ball dekivered so poorly, and yes played in so many positions and with so little support that it is amazing that he still has the nature to enjoy the game. Lyon suggests Dawes and Hogan will allow JAck to be 3rd forward but we wiont see that this week. His figures are comparable to Gunston but Gunston isnt on his own. When Jacks teammates play like Gunstons teammates we will see similar results Im hoping this year we will see the best of Watts as he continues his progression with the rest of the team .
  24. As the players are now innocent, the drugs and procedures (injection regime) used ok according to Essendon and the tribunal will Essendon now continue that regime?. Will Danks now bw invited back to improve record keeping and maintain this pure system? Are they still doing whatever it takes?
  25. Jack will be able to watch the performance of his replacements on the flank and play his game in the Casey side. We may notice that his delivery is no worse than his replacements . No player is exempt from a fumble or a howler. Jack was responsible for a number because he was where the action was and does need to improve his decision making. he might find that the abilty returns at the lower level and he can then step up again.
