given the above details of definition of UP perhaps the UP and CP total combined would be the most accurate measure. A wayward kick to a UP against a pinpoint pass to a Contest are both equally valuable.

I do hope you are right D2014 but would equally not be totally surprised if there is a diminished finding. Issues of Swiss location may have both positive and negative perceptions as have been raised through the thread OD may well be right but I dont think Myki or tram ticket applicable in Switzerland Maybe a skilift ticket. The FIFA situation does show how sports standards are being more transparently reported and equality is the expected standard. WADA know that there fundamental reason for existence is being challenged by the EFC model of sports program administration. They will need to make a fairly substantial and comprehensive investigation and finding. This may well have an element of financial consideration but is unlikely to be corrupted given the aforementioned FIFA situation

Unfortunately I think you may be correct OD As an Essendon supporting legal friend told me Not all guilty people are convicted. Evidence is required. Without a positive test, a player or staff member providing statements or someone like Danks or police providing some evidence that has not been presented to the AFL run proceedings we may indeed see further implication but no penalty.

I agree with this although think it is a small part of the total problem. . Neuro linguistic language training will also help build resilience, and maybe thats what Roosy is concentrating on Perhaps the same technique with a more brutal approach is needed I still maintain that intensity at training must be lifted to improve the instinctive action.

I reckon booing is the refuge of the illiterate Unable to string a coherent argument or even word they pronounce a monosyllabic utterance to express something. Gerard Whately on Offsiders suggested that those with other reasons for disliking Goodes shut up and allow the racists to identify themselves by their booing, perhaps not a bad idea, but what about the spirit of the game ball for those holding or releasing seems to be adequate what about ducker for those who duck their heads to solicit free kicks. A simple word could be established for each sin and the racists would be left to identify themselves.

Other threads point to form fluctuations, team makeup, team selection and other vague opinions of player capabilities. Have we improved ?????? We have played 4 of top 5 and we have played some insipid and some stirring footy. WE have shown that we have some capacity. This week we play a team that is like ourselves playing a mix of ages skills, potential and proven. Their record has been sporadic but one thing we know when they run onto the ground they will give their all. they will leave the ground spent if they are in a contest. It is the coaches job to select the right group of players who have the right skill set and will perform as a team to beat the opponent. It is the coaches job to ensure they have the self belief to beat their opponents. It is the coaches job to alter structures and patterns in anticipation of and in response to the fluctuations of the game. It is the coaches job to ensure that players are instructed in what to do and made to do it. This week is an important game for the club, its players and the coach. I believe we can win, we have the players with skills who if they turn up and focus on the football, stay in touch with their direct opponent, support their teammates, and try their bloody guts out so that they are exhausted when they leave the field we will win Go DEES

The Hawks will be wanting the AFL to continue to be able to access Federal Government funding so may have to support WADA code being retained. Will Essendon allow the Hawks to pursue this project?
-
The AFL bias in sanitising players appears to be within the vision of WADA. It would appear any cooperation between ASADA and AFL may now be destroyed. Will there now be tougher testing regimes implemented against AFL athletes?

This really made me laugh Love your thinking Distraction is a handy cure for most ills

Would like to agree but why cant we keep him playing but emphasise the boxing wrestling training to build up the core muscle structure that appears to be lacking. FGS these are full time professional footballers he should be able to develop his physique without sacrificing his skill. He is still a valuable player but even Keith Greig bulked up when they won the flag. Perhaps Watts is just a part of the team, perhaps they all need to harden up. I have been saying intensity at training might be increased . Perhaps thats part of the whole. I have heard stories constantly from premiership teams that there was competition for spots in the team and they would inhure each other at training playing so hard to get into the team. The match day was just another part of the game plan. Might have to change my name from dpositive to dambivalent to reflect the players approach

Sorry to get distracted No point in trying to solve the Essendon imbroglio

Not me My life has been one of following footy. As an old Traralgon boy I always say that I played with Kelvin Templeton and Bernie Quinlan Yes Tennis with Kelvin and Basketball with Bernie. I do play tennis still with Graeme Cordy ex swans and take a keen interest in the Bushies (get the chance to wear the red and blue) Bushies tracking pretty well this season being 5 and one losing only to top side and sitting second.

Sorry Lance responded to your first dismissive response. As things are so black and white in what is a complex argument as others have pointed out I dont think there is any point in going further Good luck.

Lance I seriously hope EFC did not cheat for the sake of the international reputation of our sports people. so assuming they did not cheat. Have you asked EfC what the truth is? I thought you may have a greater insight than myself. I assume you have not Do you honestly believe they had no records of a legal drug program? As this relates to your belief I cannot assume but if you believed they had none I would seriously question how anyone would justify any action they take. Do you believe the world body can allow any sports person to undertake an illegal drug program and ignore it on the basis that there are no records? Again a question that relates to your belief so there is no assumption. Do you think the cost of testing every athlete for drugs every time they perform is worth it just to ensure that no athlete can use that excuse? again no assumption of guilt or innocence required but I guess a follow up question would be what testing regime would you think Ok? Trust Mick is not an option. So thanks for confirming you dont support drugs in sport, I'm probably a bit more lenient than you as i think there is a place for their use but it does need to be transparent but theres a whole lot of other philosophical discussion required on that. I did indicate that was all for now due to the difficulties in presenting complex argument in a compressed environment and especially where there is unlikely to be resolution without a decision from a higher body, You know the appeal process that Hird undertook and is now to be finally arbitrated. I wonder if Danks will reveal all to this body as he has constantly maintained and we can then players included all rest easy. I do not have to apologise to Hirdy and will be sorry that he has not seen the value in recording his processes. Look its probably not worth trying to second guess any of this so until I am driven by frustration to comment further I will at least enjoy your contribution.

Thanks TDI Guess Im just an old fashioned as you train so do you play type. I guess the intensity Im referring to refers more to focus and concentration. The skills are improved when you are concentrating and they then become instinctive when you are under pressure. I reckon its the value of experience. The more you experience pressure the better you can perform within it.

I was at the game last week ( a rare event) and while pleased with the win and the visible evidence of some of my feelings, I was never confident that there would not be a turnaround until about bugler time. The players still seemed to lose concentration at times and forgot the little things that made them competitive and put them in front. They need to play with intensity for the whole game as any drop off in effort is exploited and the momentum can quickly swing. Forward line pressure at the start was apalling and it seemed the crowd from the fence to level 3 were all aware of it. Yelling for players to lock it in, man up, pressure. These tactics worked as the doggies were forced into mistakes. In defence and in the middle the pressure on opponents was generally more sustained. It was to me the example of intensity on your opposition that resulted in poor disposal and provided turnovers that we were able to exploit. added to the scoreboard pressure as the dogs scored badly we began to get more confident. it isnt about feeling good its about performing under intense pressure. Pressure on getting named in a successful side means greater intensity at training and better performance in the intensity of a match. Sorry for that long preamble. But was there a more intense and competitive attitude at training than usual TDI?

Maybe Lance Uppercut can answer these if he responds to my previous post referenced from Deefrag. He has gone quiet maybe as he considers the implications of his replies.

Re Whiteboard Wed video Nothing wrong with his intent, Liked that Stategy was a strategic unit and all his mentions of stuff and things. He has presented a reasonable intellectual model pity it didnt produce the results of Hawthorn. Where can I view the rest of this rivetting series.

There's your weaknessLance EFC has chosen to not tell the truth re a performance enhancing program Have you asked them what the truth is? Do you honestly believe they had no records of a legal drug program? Do you believe the world body can allow any sports person to undertake an illegal drug program and ignore it on the basis that there are no records? Do you think the cost of testing every athlete for drugs every time they perform is worth it just to ensure that no athlete can use that excuse? Do you support drugs in sport as a reasonable extension of whatever it takes? That'll do for now

YEah thanks DFrag that was sort of where my poorly presented case sprang from. All unproven and wrong but its ok coz I lost the paperwork.

Whoops Thanks bing Not setting out to deliberately deceive Just an obviously incorrect memory of a program which outlined the Armstrong case indicating that the Tour De France people did not want to identify doping and it took international involvement to push it along. Maybe I have that wrong too. You do seem to have a good knowledge of the processes so I better go and revise mine I am just so irate that the EFC has undertaken an obviously suspect process and have thought that they could get away with it and the AFL seems to have sanctioned their behaviour. These actions have the effect of diminishing sporting accomplishment in my mind..
-
Armstrong was never found guilty by UCI (or however they are who run Tour De France) they denied doping in their sport initially, the tested a few scapegoats who were suspended then finally the American Cycling Federation after serious lobbying from Armstrongs sponsors sick of paying out to a drug cheat involved Landis and other American cyclists to blow it apart. Even after Lance admitted it took further time before he was stripped of TDFvictories therby saving the sponsors lots of money. UCI knew what was going on but thought they andTDF was bigger than sport. As more cyclists moved from track,Olympics to road, the drug culture in pro road teams was bound to be tested. AFLis UCIEQUIVALENT

Not just that reason Watts has skill and class he shoe Was that every game he plays, he needs to be recognised for this and used not expected to be a new Jonathan brown. Howe is a leaper lynch , needs to be recognised as such and utilised Toumpas is a kid getting into the swing of the game at this level after injury. He has Williams like vision and movement which hopefully e Will flourish Fitzpatrick is big and fast Riley seems fearless I'm really just making this up. We have them, they have skills, we need a mixture of attributes in the team these guys add to the mix and need to be coached and used at the right time against the right opposition, NOW. I think Roos probably gets it. We can't win em all but we can compete. These guys are really part of that now. We can do it NOWA there is no need to look 4 or5 years on

have been saying he should stay within the forward 50 and at the ground yesterday was crying out for him to be there sos many times when we started an attack and there was no one to go to players handpassed it about at 60 metres trying to spot someone up and the ball just got lost in the congestion. Howe was part of the congestion as he went down the field to be in the play. Hogan can run free with Howe in the pocket. Howe also put plenty of pressure of Doggies defence as he is quiet quick and forced errors and turnovers with his presence. Deep forward always in the 50 running round to create an option and take that mark deep is the go

Great first post Luke please continue to add comment It is a little apples and Oranges but still interesting insights and drew great responses Excellent considered thoughts from most posters and would hope that our team coaches and support have a strategy even if they dont share it widely. WE will probably find out more this week and over the season. I only play sport at low level but know that tapering is important and will affect performance as much as absolute fitness. a minor injury distraction or cold can have a big impact. Results can impact , you never feel as sore after a win. Overtraining is easy to do. MFC probably do have/need guys tapering at different points and that is why we have a squad rather than just 22 players that play every week. I hope we have enough staff who know about the issues you raised and are dealing with them
