  1. So let's list some positives out of the year.

    1. Jack Watts has blossomed

    2. Nathan Jones has stepped up another level

    3. Garland has shown his versatility by playing well forward and back

    4. Mitch Clark

    5. Jeremy Howe is more than just a Robbo clone - he doesn't just stay in the forward pocket taking marks (Note: no criticism of Robbo intended)

    6. Compensation picks for Tom Scully might be more valuable than the player they replaced

    7. Presumably our finances are OK because I see no media speculation about the club's 'financial predicament'

    8. I can actually discern a development strategy which appeared non-existent for the previous decade

    9. After a slow start, James Sellar is providing a big bodied defender which had otherwise been lacking

    10. Tom McDonald has shown enough to suggest he'll be our CHB for many years

    11. Sam Blease and Daniel Nicholson have added pace to an otherwise slow side. They now have to improve their fitness and disposal respectively.

    12. Jordie McKenzie has shown he's not just a stopper and he can actually kick the ball

    13. James Strauss has made it back to the seniors after an horrific injury

    Some great things there mate.

The best thing of all for me is that Mark Neeld has had a good chance to see this list up close and now will come in and clean this list up.

Im looking forward to seeing mark neeld's list next year.

  2. We play them GC and GWS is a big possibility.

Also the dogs who have 0 easy games to come, that is just that extra step to far though imo (3 games)

The dogs will not finish below us they are 3 games clear.

They will win another game and so will port this weekend.

    GWS and GCS play again.

We are a lock for 18th,17th or 16th.

Not that i like it but we are not close to even port.

  3. But probably not with his running. He's a big unit, but he'll need quite a bit of conditioning before he's AFL fit.

But looks to be a super prospect.

I think he is pretty fit now his back playing in the TAC cup not AFL level but thats the same for all these kids coming through.

I think 12 to 16 games in a first year is great for any first year player.

His body is very strong for a young man and will be a very strong man in 3 years time.

    Well worth a good look.

Could be the star we are looking for and will not have to listen to the fans saying why are we getting all these skinny kids.

  4. Different scenario.

    What if we finish 15th?

What if Port lose & we win a couple, & we overtake them?

Could we still strike a deal with them for Boak? And, could they get either Toumpas or Grundy 'IF' they fall below us, depending on what Sheeds wants???

Who would we take in this scenario?

No way we will finish above port they are 2 games clear and they will probley beat us anyway.
  5. Update - Jake Stringer - 4 goals and 2nd best for Bendigo U18's.

Watch this space... he could be very special (pick 4 for me)

He is one of my mates cousin and is by all reports a gun.

He would also be the number 1 draft pick if he did not break his leg.

This kid would well and truely be worth the risk at pick 4 after Toumpas.

I hope we take the kid he would be ready to go day 1 with his body.

  6. How about we just have jones made captain nextyear along side Trengove and Grimes.

I would have no problem if Mark Neeld said Jones should be Captain also.

Sydney have 2 or 3 captains and there going o.k.

As for talk of taking the title from Trengove thats just crap.

The kid is very much who the players voted to lead them and will be like a fine wine as captain.

He will just get better with age.

  7. Has this got a virus it keeps popping up on my desktop nonstop

    Anyone else had a problem?

I open the page then shut the page and it just keeps on coming back up over and over.

    Maybe my computor is sick

  8. Hey BigJim, I actually thought Trenners looked the best he has all year against Freo. Had a bit more leg, was moving more freely, played really well, reckon he might be playing himself into some form so can't agree with resting him this week.

I think he was o.k on the weekend but he has been running so slow this year and is so important going forward that i just think if any game we should rest him it's the Darwin game. The kid has had a tuff year and really needs to be looked after Just IMO

  9. This all comes back to Footy smarts it is something that will come in time.

You could be a great kick(Tapscott) but make the wrong play.

Example: Tapscott kicks long down the line to get it forward to Green but he is coverd by 2 Freo players.(wrong play)

Sometimes you need go backwards to go forward Tapscott kicks to Grimes all by himself in the backline and opens up the other side of the ground.

You get your fast mids or forwards running to space like a bail who can make the space very quickley and is a higher % of not turning the ball over.(Right play)

The problem is that at the moment our skills and footy smarts are well below AFL standard.

The point is you can be the best kick in the game but you must also have the footy smarts to make the right call.

The hawks are great at this.

Im sure Mark Neelds footy college is working very hard on this.

  10. I think port is playing better football then MFC and will win simply because they are better.

No need to talk about the T word or Viney cup we are a good chance to finish below GCS & GWS after there win.

I just want to see players like Gysberts,Jetta,Cook get a run so Neeld gets a good look at the full squad going forward.

    IN: Cook,Gysberts,Jetta,Watts,Fitz

    OUT: Jamar,Grimes,Bennel,Trengove(rest inj),Bate

    Jones ©

  11. Yes, I see your point.

However, I hardly think GWS or GC will take what CS has to say seriously. They know what they have to do to make us take him, and so far they have both indicated that they will do just that.

I was making the point (separate from yours) that it annoys me to hear CS talk about the list and up coming draft as if it is his place to manage that. It was one of the main criticisms of him last year, that he tends to get involved unduly in matters of the FD.

He was asked the question about jack and just used it as a time to get the messege out that we are not going to be pushed into picking Viney at pick 1,2 or 3.
  12. Is this CS picking the list again? What MFC team did he write on a napkin this time? Keep your hands out of the football dept, Cam. Not impressed, if true.

I think your missing the point Moonshadow it's nothing about swabb telling the footy dep what to do it's cam swabb selling fear to GWS and GCS that if they bid on viney dont think we will roll over and pay overs for a kid who is not rated pick 1 or 2.

He is doing what you would want your club to do and that is letting GWS know that it's not as simple as we will just dummy bid to screw MFC over and for that we the members should be happy his doing his job

  13. Jeysus, Big fella you're far more optimistic this week than last week, good to see.

A week is a long time in footy as they say

Looking forward to work tomorrow the Docker fans I work with are fairly humble and a lot of them texted me yesterday saying how lucky they were, the Meth Coast supporters will be talking up there injuries but fook them I hate that club and will just sit back watching the Dockers fans devour them

Yes footy is a funny game sometimes.

I am a very passionate fan and sometimes the heat of battle gets the better of me.

When i really sit back and look at things with a clear head it's easy to see the future of this club going forward.

We were always going to struggle with such a great shift in change.

The bad luck with injuries and form has not helped our cause in 2012.

But if you look at the year of players like Clark(wow),Jones,Mcdonald,Howe,Rivers,Watts it's easy to see these guy's have really grown under Neeld.

Also with the draft this year we are in a position to really build on the foundation Neeld has put together.

Names like Toumpas,Viney,Stringer,Grundy,Whitfield,Simpson,Wines we could throw 3 or 4 of these names into our list in 2013 and all of a sudden our midfield looks strong.

Trengove and Grimes have a full season under there belt as Captain and just keep growing.

Lets also say that our boy Jack watts is starting to really belong at AFL level and is growing into a great prospect.

Then there is Jurruh who has had a really hard year that can come in and just inject some real fire into our forward line again.

Every fan has been tested through 2012 but i really believe this club has finally started to build a bright future.

  14. Shocking News, much maligned but has played well last 2 weeks, speedy recovery and look foward to seeing him playing next year in the red and blue, and the club will do the right thing by him Im sure

I dont think you watch the game last week against Richmond if you think that was good we are in trouble.

I think anyone who ever thought Bennell would be delisted this year was kidding themselves.

He'll be at the club next season, no question.

How are we kidding ourself he has done very little since coming to the club and maybe averged 6 touches a game.

He has done sweet f all and is in alot of danger IMO.

All the best with the knee mate but i fear he might not get another chance.

  15. It's official (although most would have assumed).

There will be no Priority Picks allocated in the 2012 national draft.

    No draft bonus for Suns

Great news and with GC getting there first win this week and the dees still only on 2 wins there is still a great chance MFC will finish below GWS or GC.

Not that i like not winning but with the rest of the year being a training run no one will know were the picks will fall we could very well finish 18th or 17th.

This draft is shaping as the most important draft in the history of this club.

We are in need of the best Midfield players going forward so if we Have a chance to land Grundy we would be silly not to have a real good look.

I class ruckmen as apart of the Midfield and add to that 3 good mids in Toumpas,Viney and pick 12 Vlastin

When november comes around there is going to be some really good high end talent thrown into the mix at the MFC.

Cam Swabb said on Triple M that we will not take Viney if GWS over rate him.(Well done Cam) we will take him in the second round IMO.

Once we have another year under Neeld and co and a fit squad of Trengove,Blease,Jurruh,Clark,Davey,Sylvia,Watts,Gawn,Jamar,Gysberts and add to that a good trade or 2 and Grundy,Tompas,Viney and Vlastin the MFC will turn around alot quicker then may fans might think. This is also what Cam Swabb said yesterday that when asked when will the club play finals again. He said that our team will turn around alot quicker then the so called experts might think.

There has been a big change at this club in 2012 and at times it's bloody hard to watch.

But please dees fans give the new footy department time to show the bigger picture which is in place right now.

The MFC has spent big money in recent times so we have the best chance to compete with all the clubs in the AFL Neeld,Mission,Craig are very good at what they do.

2013 will be the start of the rise of the MFC so hold on sit back and enjoy the ride.

    GO DEES

  16. I think stef is the better ruckman IMO just because of the second efforts in the middle.

He also has alot better run getting to and from the next contest.

Jamar is also a good ruckman when in form.

You need 3 or 4 ruckmen in your team so i think both Stef and Russian are required players.

The big russian is the type of player we need around the younger leaders going forward also.

    They can have spencer

  17. I just hate this crap about good 3 quarters.

We were all over freo today.

But i just know that we are not going to win all day.

That just means our side is weak. and dont know how to win.

    Well done to stef Martin.

    Very sad again
