  1. I don't think the game plan will be to technical, I just think we are over coached. We have a coach for this, a fitness person for that and I just think the players don't know how to mesh all these instructions together. By over coaching we are complicating what can be a very simple game. I also believe the players listen to their development coach and then to Neil Craig, then to Neeld, I mean who are they suppose to trust and listen to. I just feel there is way too much "coaching" going on and the players don't know what to bloody do!

  2. It's that last comment that is the most honest truth I have heard from any commentator about our club. They look like AFL footballers but don't play anything like one and the word disappointed for me is the worst word in the world. If someone is disappointed in you, you should feel like crap!

  3. I think this should go into the perspective thread. I am as disgusted as anyone however Jack Watts in this interview sounds absolutely gutted and when asked what his message was to the supporters he couldn't even answer. Post game interview.

  4. That's exactly what we need, an extraordinary meeting. We need answers and totally agree that it should be led by the members and not the MFC administration. Surely the members of this club are passionate enough to make this happen. Enough is enough, someone has to draw the line in the sand!

  5. I knew we were f@#ked before the first bounce. The Melbourne players all huddled together - all except for the bench. This only happens at melbourne where the camaraderie is clearly missing!

.Mitch clark - the guy hasn't played for 9 months and kicks the first 2 goals, did any get around him? NO!

.Jack Viney - first game, ripper goal does anyone get around him? NO!

.there is no encouragement, anyone who has played football understands how important camaraderie is! they have to get around each other, just show us that they frequin care!

. We (supporters) need a culture change as well. 200 power supporters out voiced us before the game and for me that set the tone for the rest of the day.Our entire club is weak and insipid!

Your last point about the Power supporters is so true, I was thinking that at the start of the match, in fact I said to my mate how terrible it is that the Melbourne cheer squad is not even firing up when I was sitting on the opposite side of the ground to the Power cheer squad and I could hear them clearly! All your points are true as, there is something very wrong at our club...

  6. Ok, I understand how frustrating this is. Melbourne has been a below average team for years now with the last few seasons being full of unfulfilled promises. Today was a big disappointment, but to show to everyone what a strong footy club we are, we need to pick ourselves up and continue to support our team. Because that's what supporters are for.

I think we will all support our team, however we are all over these performances. We are only human, how long can we put up with sub par and frustrating performances. The Melbourne Footy Club and I are in a very bad and hurtful relationship, I love them but they keep letting me down and I always go back to them! LOL

  7. Grimes, Grimes, Grimes, the number of times he handballed to a player under pressure today, he is not leadership material, I am not saying he isn't a good guy however I just don't think he is captain material. We need Mitch Clark, or Jonesy to take over the captaincy and let these young guys actually play footy.

  8. Before anyone shoots me down I am one of the most passionate demons supporters on the planet. I have never lost hope but is anyone else a little more worried about tomorrow's game against Port Adelaide. The suns have won the bulldogs smashed Brisbane and GWS did not disgrace themselves against the premiers from last year. Those are the three teams tipped to finish below us. I only hope that we show something tomorrow against the power otherwise we could find ourselves being beaten quite convincingly by these teams this year.

As I said do not shoot me down as I will be barracking as hard as ever and this thread is not to say we are doomed. I only say I am a little worried that so much may hinge on tomorrow's showing against the power. I also realise it's round one but the suns and giants showed a lot in the pre season and we rarely win round one and are chasing butt all year.

I must admit I am more nervous now, not because of a potential loss but just looking ahead to the future. What if we have not improved and we are the same old demons? Where does that put our club? And the age old question of how can other clubs rebuild or build/develop a list and we cannot. But as Chook said we will only know after 3pm tomorrow! But boy I am really crossing my fingers that our boys have improved too and that we are not going to be the laughing stock once again!! GO DEE'S!!!

  9. You want me to tell you why?

Ok, ignoring the fact that it's really a meaningless concept and each individual case is completely different...

The poster you are asking only has experienced it from one side of the argument, and therefore can't give you an accurate judgment.

And in fact, no one has experienced it or is capable of experiencing it from both sides, so no one can answer your question with any sort of authority.

    Utterly pointless.

Yes exactly, I can only tell it from my side of the story and from what others have told me... hence giving more of a personal recount of how it felt for me. And each persons case is different, you'll have people come out at a very young age, happily and accepted, you'll have ppl like me who struggled with it for years and came out later in life, I mean it's a tough one and can only give my opinion based on my experiences, correct. Hence my response was very shaky at best anyway because as if I could tell exactly what it's like for every person who comes out.

  10. This topic is one big bore for me.

I couldn't care if you're hetero, homo, bi, or asexual. I don't want gay rounds. I don't want the AFL to be a moral police with their green agenda. I don't want messages shoved down my throat. I don't want any player encouraged to come out and be a poster boy. They can please their bloody selves. If they want to come out great, not that I'd give a stuff. I couldn't care less either way.

That's great and if the whole of society had your attitude we wouldn't need to bring it to peoples attention tbh because if people didn't give a stuff then there wouldn't be all the stigma attached to it. I think it's more about educating the wider community rather then having one sole role model and if you have an influential organisation the message gets to the masses. It's all good and well, I could start a campaign myself but my message would take a lot longer to get out there, so if you can use an organisation like the AFL to educate then where is the harm in that. To build that society we speak of we need to educate the youth, they are our future.

  11. DemonDan can I ask you ... as a gay person, do you think it's harder for a male or female to 'come out'? As an outsider it seems to me there is less stigma to lesbians doing so and therefore it is comparatively more easy for them. Would you say that's true?

Hmm interesting question, as a gay guy I do feel that lesbians are more accepted because straight guys accept it more, whereas there is more of a stigma to being a gay guy. I have lesbian friends who have said it was still tough for them though, which is understandable. Probably why gay guys have lots of girls as friends, I think it just feels less threatening to them. I hope that sort of answers your question.

  12. Good story and I fully agree with his stance. The fact that it is still something that needs to "come out" shows that we've got a long way to go in our society in regards to acceptance. I look forward to the day when homosexuality (or any-sexuality) is not some big secret we need to muster up the courage to tell our family and friends.

^^ This, perfectly said. Being gay myself I totally agree with this, the whole coming out process was difficult and stressful, I can't wait for the day when society accepts differences in peoples lives. Also, disliked Brock Mclean for what he did to the MFC, but am really impressed how he has tackled this issue and is now coming out in support of gay people even by marching along side Jason Ball in the pride march next week is an amazing sign of support. Much respect to him for that!! Maybe our Brock is growing up and the storm after his comments on tanking has made him realise the important things in life? I am sure he has been extremely caught up in this whole saga as well, having an effect on his life.

  13. Last night when Walker was going for the goal at half time, a big momentum swinging kick, they put up a shot where there was the boundary umpire and field umpire blocking the view of the kick! It was very amateurish and our game is suppose to be the professional league of Australia... It was disgraceful, I couldn't believe it!

  14. I thought it was a good slogan and the Imagery on the site looks great.

    No pleasing some people.

I agree, considering the season we have just had I think the club is pulling on the right strings here!! It affected me and I was like hell yeah I am signing up lol!!

  15. I was at the prelim final with my dad and was so excited. We were sitting next to this bunch of elderly North supporters who were so [censored] off at losing they kept telling us off for cheering so loudly and excitedly LOL! But then the worst moment of my life happened... I left the ground and bolted out to the queue to get the queue number for Monday when I realised that my wallet with my membership in it was not in my pocket. You needed your membership to get your ticket number. I actually began to cry. My dad ran back into the MCG where we were sitting and looked everywhere for the wallet. No luck. Then he thought to check out lost property and would you believe some lovely person had actually handed it in. Relief, but I always wished I knew who it was, but thanks to them I was able to get my queue ticket and get to the Grand final the next week!!

  16. ...and you think Malthouse would be interested in taking over from his mate, and besides take on a basket case that he clearly thinks have a lot of off field issues.

If Caro is right then the board members really don't have the resolve required to run a football club and it's no wonder we are where we are. Maybe they have decided it's time to really address the issues from 2011 on and not look for one scapegoat.

I agree with your last sentence in your response. I mean I think Caro's rumours are to be taken lightly however maybe the board have decided they need to address the broader issues. I think this whole football club, players, board members, football department, CEO, water boy, runners, anyone who is involved need to get together, eye ball each other, and then get what they need to off their chest and make a clear way forward. Anyone who does not want to be a part of such a session should not play or work at the club again. Let's get it all out in the open and try to make a way to move on positively.
