  1. I think what we'll find is that it'll be more like:
Pick 3 for Pick 6 and GWS 1st rounder next year.  Maybe even another pick thrown in there by GWS.

This will allow for GWS to get two top 3 pick players for the equivalent of Pick 6, a future 1st and something else(maybe).
This will allow us to get Pick 6 and Pick 8 for Pick 3.  Still maintain a 1st rounder next year.

Anything after 1st round, I think both teams acknowledge is very speculative and a lottery.

Now what we do with pick 6 and 8 and maybe GWS 1st next year intrigues me.  I would love to turn these 3 picks into a combination of Papley, Brad Crouch, Daniher etc.  Whether that is possible, I don't know.  But I wouldn't put it past Mahoney.

  2. This could work in our favour....

GC are desperate to get rid of May.  Now that we don't have the 1st rnd picks from freo, we could get May for unders.

Then freo come back into the fray. We then can land pick 5 and 23 for hogan and also get May.

  3. I’d love the trade to be:

neale to bris for pick 4

pick 4 and freo future 1st to us for hogan

pick 4 to port for 9 and 10

10 and our future 1st to gc for may and kk.

Will leave us with pick 9, freos future 1st, may and kk for hogan and a pick in the late teens next year

  4. I think you'll find if you go through every year, almost every team in the top 8 would have lost a game where they "shouldn't" have.  And if they had won it, it would have made a difference.

  5. Hey all,

About to head to the airport!!!  I'm driving and parking the car.

If anyone is on the red eye (Jetstar) JQ981 - 1:45am Sunday morning and wants a lift home (assuming its on the way through to Bentleigh), I'm happy to help out.  This weekend is costing us all enough as it is.  Might as well try and save some $$ where we can.

If you're interested, just shoot me through a message and we can exchange numbers etc.

  6. Won't lie.... had no idea this was the demons birthday.  That being said, the fact that my son shares the same birthday as the greatest football team on the planet has made my day.  He turned 4 today.  He's a true dee.  Knows the theme song off by heart, kicks the footy around the back yard in his dees jumper.  Knowing I can celebrate his birthday every year and also use the dees in some way has made my day!!

    • I think the defence settling in with lever there
    • tmac coming into the side.  His running capacity and the teams confidence in him allows us to go quickly knowing that we will have one of hogan tmac or bull to mark or bring the ball to ground.  Structurally has allowed himself and hogan to interchange from deep ff into further up the ground.
    • and just pure grunt and competitors all over the ground.
    • gus, anb, melksham coming into form together

  7. Something tells me if he played VFL this week again, we'd be without him for at least 3-4 more weeks due to suspension.  They've kept him back from games for a few weeks already.  A good run around in VFL.  No chance Viney would have wanted to have a 2nd in the VFL.

  8. Love em both.

Both have seen tough times and had to overcome them (Tracc - ACL, Gus - Concussion)

Both were made to earn their spots when returning from injuries, especially Tracc with his broken toe.

I'd tend to agree with most of the posts here.  But in fairness to the OP, I'd say Gus probably does most/all things well.  Tracc does a lot of things well and some things extraordinarily.

As pointed out, Tracc's penetrating kick is unbelievable, especially when doing I50s.  Gus set shots and shots on goal on the run and kicking both sides of the body I'd take over Tracc.

Either way...THEY'RE DEES!!!!  Let's hope Gus re-signs ASAP

  9. I’m not a watts hater. I really loved jack when he was with us. I watched the first port game for the year last night.

If he played that game in our jumper, I would be livid.  He didn’t come to the ball to take a mark. Turnover. He had no urgency running away from a pack. Tackled, turnover. There was no intensity.

Taking it with a grain of salt. It’s the only game I’ve seen him play this year. But regardless, that was one he will want to forget.

  10. The key stat I look at really is: quarters won.  We're sitting equal first with 9 wins and 3 losses.  One lose per game.

As has been said a lot on this site, we go "missing" for a quarter.  While I do agree that we have gone missing, I also feel it's unrealistic for us to win every quarter.

What we need to do is "limit" that damage in the quarter/s we lose.

Against Saints in pre season, we let through 8 goals from memory.
Against Geelong in rd 1, 2nd quarter, we let through 7 goals.  Turned out to be too much.
Against Brisbane, rd 2, we limited the damage of 4 goals to 1 in that 3rd quarter.
Against North, rd 3, 1st quarter, we let through 5 goals.

Common sense I know, but in the quarters we lose, if we limit it to around a 2-3 goal difference, I'll predict we'll win more than we lose this year.
