  1. Mark Neelds Press Conference:

Mark, what was your message for the players after the game?

Yeah, disappointment…………..ahummmmmmmmmmm………………no one likes to lose round 1. And the reality is; it’s worth 4 points, like every other round. But there’s a big………… big build up for it! (Ya know)…. The message included that um, in my opinion I think we had four players who would have rated a benchmark game, and it doesn’t matter what game style you have, or where you play, or who your opponent is, if you’ve got 18 players who you don’t rate, as at least average, you’re not gunna win.

Wow! That’s insight. I’m glad this guy is coaching MFC.

Help me out here. How much does it matter what game style you have? Or where the players on this list play? And when your opponent is Brisbane, not Hawthorn or Collingwood, how would you expect these players to play a benchmark game?

Is this guy cutting it so far?

  2. I was there. So were my kids. Son (16yo) says we have no forward strategy other than bomb long to a one on two. He also says we were killed at the centre clearances. Daughter (14yo) says we suck! I say they are right, given the final score (2nd half). However, we were in the game at half-time. If I were a coach I would dismiss all of the game analysis, other than the 3rd Qtr. I would go over the third Qtr with a fine tooth comb and leave it at that (one step at a time for toddlers!).

Centre clearance problem... Jamar hits it too close to himself for our set-up. Brisvegas read him better than MFC! He needs to have 3 options... 'at his feet' 'outside right' clearing pack... and 'pump it' 20M. Today he had one gear... PREDICTABLE!!!! Note: He scored 104 Supercoach points to oppositon 100. If we are not prepared to get the ball inside 50 into the hands of Watts, Green, Howe... we are STUPID!!!! They are finishers. The 'bomb it long' to a one on two option is so flawed that the players should simply ignore the coaches (every now and then). The coaching staff will soon forgive transgressions when goals ARE SCORED!!!! Umpiring followed its usual pattern for us. Marks that touched the ground... free kicks for Hollywood dives... play on for blatant run downs and incorrect disposal. IN Gysberts, Tapscott, Petterd OUT Moloney, Green, .... whoever!

'bomb long to a one on two'...says it all. What a game plan.

  3. The game plan can't be blamed for what happened today. Nor can the coaches be blamed. If the plan was any more than "predictable" I doubt this group could have even followed such a simple concept. It makes you wonder if perhaps Bailey did try to teach them a plan, but they were not capable of following it.

Have you seen the list? It could be possible that the game plan and the coaches have something to do with loosing. The players shouldn't be adapting to a simple minded PE teachers idea's, the coach should be adapting to the lists capabilities.

  4. The only out next week should be Neeld. I get some releif from being a completely shattered Melbourne supporter watching replays from 2010 when they played attacking, running football; not this 'defensive structure' stuff coached by a simple PE teacher.

Did any of you read this in the forums here on Dempmland?

I feel so sorry for my son, who i encoraged to be a Melb. supporter.

He is 11 years old and cops crap at school all the time about what losers we are....its unforgiving in he schoolyard.

After today he said he doesnt want to go to the footy anymore...heartbreaking.....

Damn this club is depressing .

  5. good to see that everything we members are feeling is being shown by Garry.

sounds like he will go in their as smack some head together and wake up the playing group.

also sounds like he really wants Mick there next year

    When there was discussion about whether Scully and players got on with the coach and admin etc, it was a bit harsh of Lyon to say;

"Ya there ta play footy, that's ya job...

    ...they are paid to play!"

"...there job is to turn up at 2:10 and not allow this sought of thing to happen!"

If players have asked management to put a leash on Schwab and in turn the administrators have sacked Bailey, it doesn't create a sense of worth among the players if the club has ignored they’re concerns and told them to suck it up.

Lyons comments devalue their worth. They’re place in the club is more than just being paid to take the field at 2:10. They wont win games with low morale in a corrupt corporate culture.

If Schwab’s causing them grief, MFC should be hearing them out, not telling them to go lay more tackles because we say so! Decision making shouldn't be compromised because the board feel Schwab’s a valuable corporate asset to the club.

If he upsets the players, he should have been put out on the street before the players started thinking about signing contracts next year.
