AFL Trialing Ball Chip Tech for Goal Reviews
Jaded No More replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Congratulations to the AFL for joining the 21st century, 20 years too late. -
Now I've heard it all. Trac was going to go to North?
-
That's a great book, and the TV series is also really good. Highly recommend.

Club in crisis - Media pile on - August 2024
Jaded No More replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Has Kosi? It's easy to pick on clubs that have a good list and fail, like ours, that much is clear. What isn't clear is where is the media pile on on the Pies, from premiers to bottom 8, or Geelong last year, or this year for that matter for what happened to Stangle. Please imagine the headlines if it was Clarry instead. Why is it ok to cut the Pies slack because of their injuries, but ours are completely ignored? Can you imagine the outrage if Goodwin came out and said we got robbed by the umpires because the game wasn't played at the MCG? Like honestly, just imagine how he would get cut to shreds by the entire AFL journalist community. I understand why we are getting picked on, and that's fine, we have been a total disappointment this season. But we are not alone, so why are we copping more than most? -
Oh good, another 30,000 pages coming up for @Demonland

It was for sure the wrong call, but wrong medical calls are made all the time, including in a hospital setting, which is precisely what happened to Trac. To presume a doctor on the field could make a diagnosis when a doctor in a hospital took 6 hours to do so, is a bit fanciful. I have no doubt that Trac was assessed and said he was ok to try and return to play. I didn’t see Goody drag his limp body to FF, did you?
-
I was saying that the implication that players didn’t know Trac was in Noosa until today is laughable. My dad who checks Instagram once a month when he accidentally clicks on the icon on his phone, knew that Trac was in Noosa. These journalists never should have dropped out of clown school.
-
So not a single Melbourne player has turned on their phones and checked social media in 8 weeks?

In the least surprising news of all time
-
Already reported by @Dannyz who has slightly more credits in the bank than Buckley, Morris and Cornes put together.
-
Not shown in this report is @WalkingCivilWar holding a gun behind Adrian’s back and whispering “you better say nice things about us”
-
He is actually in the top 0.1% because there is simply nobody better than him in the last decade, and arguably longer. If he gets his 7th AA jacket, which he should, that will just prove it.

Premiership Hero Ben Brown Retires
Jaded No More replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
I teared up watching the video of him speak to the players. When he said his mind was willing but his body wasn’t capable, I felt that deep in my soul. -
My sources tell me he met with the playing group to hand back the coriander Kade Chandler gave him
-
Interesting because he was there for Ben Brown’s retirement announcement which I believe was today
-
Is Jay Clark also proposing Beau McCreery and pick 32 as the trade?
-
Only Melbourne supporters would argue that extending the contract of one of our greatest ever players and premiership captain, who also happens to be the best ruckman the game has probably ever seen, is not a good thing.

They wouldn’t even accept that for Josh, let alone Nick. Did you mean Nick?

I believe we will hear of his retirement very soon. -
Because Tom Morris is waiting to write his tell all memoir: “Tom Morris- my life thru the bins of AFL players”
-
Hey @WalkingCivilWar was Nibbler there?

Premiership Hero Ben Brown Retires

I think a grand final is slightly different to a dead rubber, but I do understand the sentiments. I am conflicted on this issue, and would be fine whichever way the club chooses to go. -
Maybe because the club needs to know where it stands financially to be able to attract certain players or sign other extensions like Viney, McVee and May. The more you have planned out, the easier it is to shuffle things around to accommodate other deals. Gawn was never not going to get an extension if he wanted one, we all know this. So why not just get it done instead of wasting your time next year, when perhaps you'll have bigger fish to fry? And who is to say another club won't approach him, the way North approached Viney next year, which will drive up his price? Not saying he would ever leave, but it would give him bargaining power.
