Yes that is true, but we are still playing the same number of interstate games as previous years, without the need to also play in Geelong. Not to mention that poor Tassie ground where we seem to sustain serious injuries. And IMO the back to back SA games, while brutal in terms of the 5 day break, can be seen as a single interstate game, if as I suspect we will stay there for the duration of those rounds. Geelong do not worry me either, but Geelong in Geelong will always be no more than a 50/50 proposition simply because they play that ground better than anyone. Whereas at the MCG that game IMO is 70/30 our way. Likewise we have lost to Freo at the MCG frequently. Playing them at Optus doesn't make that game any more difficult beyond the travel itself. And we play Optus extremely well anyway. Also our travel is far better this year in terms of timing. We don't have long blocks of away games and we finally get a home game in the last round of the season, and a proper mid year bye. My biggest gripe is double up games against the other top 4 sides, which should be something only the premiers get lumped with. But having said that, I have no confidence in Port being top 4 again and we match up well against Brisbane especially at the MCG. I think Carlton and Adelaide will be real threats in 2024 so am happy we only play them once.

I suppose you just don't know. Freo, Port and Lions could all dip. Nobody expected Freo to be so poor in 2023 or Port to be so strong either. But on paper this looks a hard draw. At least we get a proper mid year bye and our travel is more evenly spread out, and the two weeks in Adelaide are pretty much going to be one intestate trip from a conditioning perspective as I doubt we will fly back in between games.

Yeah what a bizarre scheduling Why make us have such a short break? I suppose we will stay over in between games, but it's still a big ask to back up against two good sides in such a short time. ON THE PLUS SIDE, NO GEELONG IN GEELONG!!!!

You would HOPE this round 0 gimmick means we get a proper break around ANZAC eve which is a Wednesday this year. And I hope we asked the AFL for a real Bye this season, so our players can get the time off they deserve.

So far every Dees game they've released has been one I can't attend. Always keeping the loyal members in mind is the AFL!

In fact the media put the words "tough love" out there, Max said literally nothing except that we have a strong cultural foundation. WTF do you expect him to do or say in this instance? He went to the races and obviously they put a camera in front of his face. If he says no comment, the media would have a field day with that. Oh the captain is refusing to speak, Melbourne captain not standing by the club's culture etc etc You yourself called them grubs. They would leach onto anything, spoken or otherwise. Max is in a no win situation.

Oh yeah Max refusing to speak to the media would absolutely not result in more negative publicity for the club. The media loves to be ignored.

Even sadder, I was one of the OGs who migrated from the old platform and was a test user on this site when @Nasher was building it back in the day. He of course will deny this, but we are both much older and wiser now 😅

The problem is that some posters are happy to stay in the lane of only what is in the public domain, but many others don't. You've seen it, we've all seen it happen in every one of these threads. So unless you want to volunteer to monitor every one of these threads 24 hours a day 7 days a week, there is just no other way to prevent these conversations from steering into the wrong lane and getting Andy into trouble. I would rather not see Demonland have to close down, and I am sure you wouldn't want to see that happen either.

Just to be clear, Andy aka @Demonland doesn’t owe anyone anything. He pays to run this site so that sad MFCSS suffering losers (like me 😂), can spend too long chatting about irrelevant things relating to our football club. He has a job and a family and a life outside of this forum, as do the rest of the volunteers who run this site (shocking I know!), and he shouldn’t have to take any risks to his livelihood or his personal lives to satisfy the need of busy bodies. If you want to discuss rumours, innuendos and highly contentious issues freely, go to BigFooty or better yet start your own discussion board. I’ll be sure to pop by and write loads of content with the words culture in it.
