Written in the 1960's I think and has a funny sort of tone, but I love it. Would highly recommend reading, if you can get your hands on a copy.

I think we'll probably see Lewis, Bernie and Jones rotate through the middle and across half back. Lewis and Vince in particular, as they're both great users of the ball and are very composed under pressure. That might also help push Hunt up to the wing.

When I first saw Snatch I was pretty young, and it took a couple of viewings to realise that Frankie Four Fingers was Benicio Del Toro and not Brad Pitt. Totally fair enough.

Affirmative. I'm obviously not the intended audience, but I struggled to sit through it and I think it didn't know whether it was a comedy or a drama. Some pretty poor acting and character work didn't help that. But, they made a feature film which is a massive achievement in itself, so respect to them for that.

Can't argue with that. I struggle to think of a time when he has disappointed me in a role. I watched Van Diemen's Land last night, based on the story of a group of escaped convicts who resort to cannibalism to survive. Very brutal, but slow in parts and very much about the protagonist (Alexander Pearce) and whether he was a psychopath or a normal guy in an abnormal situation. Beautifully shot though and on some reflection I think it was pretty good. Can be found on Stan.

They've always been 'special'. Doggies are a good example of where we are coming from. We win more games, make finals and cause more of a stir, we'll get better fixtures. It'd be different if we had a membership base of 50K.

It's just a good chance for us to beat them convincingly, continue to knock off these shite records and set the tone for the season.

Yeah, amazing soundtrack! What were your thoughts on Bronson? I read a really good article a couple of years ago comparing Bronson and Chopper, and the influence of Chopper on Refn's film. Was really interesting, and the contention was that Bronson was simply stylistic and completely lacking in any kind of soul or connection, whilst Chopper was style and a heap of substance, which I couldn't agree with more. Chopper is one of my favourite movies ever made.

What do you think of Nicholas Winding Refn's films? Personally, I think they look great but don't enjoy them at all. Apart from Drive, which is probably because that was written by Hossein Amini and not Refn himself.

Those three are definitely worth watching. The only Burton directed film I've enjoyed is Big Fish. Everything else has been underwhelming, and Alice in Wonderland was total trash. I suppose the technical aspects that Burton shares with the German expressionist films don't really help the fact that his work is pretty unengaging IMO.

German Expressionism is fascinating! Loved learning about it at uni and the progression to noir is very interesting. Love The Sniper and Double Indemnity is great, phenomenal read too as a script. Ace In The Hole and Murder, My Sweet are both great films.

Re-signing Hogan, as it's had an effect on all of those other points. Lewis himself said that it was a big factor in him approaching Melbourne. In this day and age, it's huge that we were able to hold onto him.
