Relax... We've still got Jesse Hogan...
Mallee Bull replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
One would hope that with the AFL getting involved with the running of the club (Evans appointment for 6 months to ruthlessly review the way the club operates) that by the time his contract is up at the end of 2015, we will be winning games of footy and he'll want to stay. Lucky he isn't coming out of contract now. I love the club, but we are at rock bottom, largely by our own design. Having the AFL step into help is the best thing that can happen. -
I think you'll find that people are confusing him with the journalist Jesse Hogan. He is the one who supports Melbourne. It'll come down to where we are at in 2015. If we are on the rise, he would likely stay. If we are still a mess....

It was uploaded 4 days ago bud. 'Jack Viney goal' is what I searched for.......

First round of the year, it's at the G, we haven't lost yet and its potentially a winnable game. Plus Viney and the other new recruits. I'd say somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000. I'd be very surprised if it were any large than that.

I think that most MFC supporters that get the Foxtel package, like myself, do so not because they want to watch our MCG games at home, but rather, so they can see our interstate matches that are rarely broadcast on free to air. As for the cheesy rhyme about cheer and smashing the comp this year, I'd bet that the same line is used for all clubs. Just an 'insert club name here' thing.

The tragic downfall of Liam Jurrah
Mallee Bull replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Some members of the footy media just love a negative MFC story. You don't see anyone blaming the pies for Marley Williams (a young impressionable recruit) belting that bloke in Perth. MFC is an easy target. -
We did manage to snag Grimes that draft, but yes, Morton makes you cringe when you think of missing the likes of Dangerfield.

As much as it would be great to see Hoges running around in the seniors this year, I just don't see the need in rushing him. We aren't pushing for finals, so why not let him develop his body strength and conditioning whilst playing at Casey? Everyone could see that Majak Daw had talent, but north have let him develop his game and his body in the VFL and he is now ready to explode onto the scene now. We should have learnt our lesson with what happened to Watts. Sure Hoges appears to be ready and certainly has more agro than Watts did, but he just turned 18, he is still very much a kid. I just don't see the need to risk exposing him prematurely. Just as I wouldn't want Clark or Trengove rushed back into the side for round 1. 2013 will hopefully be a better year than last, but it's 2014 when I think we will start to seriously entertain the idea of pushing for finals. A fit Clark, Dawes and a raring to go Hogan next summer is what I want to see.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/time-to-strip-points-for-tanking/story-e6frf9jf-1226575762398?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HeraldSunAflMelbourne+%28Herald+Sun+|+AFL+-+Melbourne%29 Normally the ridiculous articles that get published by this excuse for a 'newspaper' don't get much of a reaction from me. However what this imbecile, Rucci, suggests would effectively be the end of the MFC. Who the hell would support a club that effectively played games without a reason for 4 seasons. It would be ludicrous. It infuriates me how these 'journalists'/bloggers just assume the MFC's guilt, without any evidence, and dish out what they believe the sentence should be. This is not how justice works. This article does not report fact. It merely is a soap box for Rucci to express his opinion to the broader football community. It may as well be the annoying, uninformed di¢khead at the bar/party who starts mouthing off about what he thinks the AFL should do, when in reality he is about as informed on the issues as, well, the next peanut 'journalist'/blogger that needs to justify their job by writing ill informed tripe that tarnishes a club's and individuals reputation. From what we know, there is very little difference in what Melbourne has done and what Carlton has done, let alone what West Coast, Hawthorn, Collingwood and Richmond did. And yet we remain the single club to have been investigated. It is a farce. I love the MFC. I have since I was knee high. I am loud and proud in a circle of Collingwood supporters, I fly the flag year in year out. Whatever Melbourne have done, I will continue to support the club. But my interest in the AFL as a fair and equal competition is waning rapidly and I find myself increasingly less interested in a league I long assumed to be the greatest. The draft will continue to be compromised until the AFL wakes up to itself and implements a lottery. Would you blame a starving person from eating a pie on the window sill? We were not the first team to go for the priority pick, but we were the last. For some reason that seems to have been a crime. The AFL should be ashamed.

I like the new banner, but would love to see the big fella Neitz added. Only 300 gamer, longest serving skipper and leading goal scorer. Surely that gets you up there?
-
No. High risk with only potential for average return.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JIMMY TOUMPAS
Mallee Bull replied to Demanding Success's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hogan, Viney and Toumpas. 3 genuine top ten picks in the one draft. Plus Dawes, Pederson, Byrnes and Rodan as right now players. Feels like we are eating our cake and having it too! -
Indeed. Time will tell I guess. I'll settle for them both being equally awesome.
-
I would have thought that Wines would have the potential to be the superior player due to his height. If they are both ferocious on-ballers, but one can drift forward and take marks...... Edit: Wines has 10 cm and 10 kilos on Viney...

Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism
Mallee Bull replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
She can't even get the facts or dates right but is still happy to besmirch the name of the MFC. The quality of journalism in this city is truly appalling. -

Putting Melbourne up against Hawthorn on a Friday night was just idiotic. What did the AFL expect was going to happen? They have been flogging us for the past 5 years. I think every club should get at least ONE Friday night game each year. They should have put us up against a team that was likely to be on an even level with us. Then the game becomes interesting.

Byrnes anyone?

Uh, the bulldogs were offering pick 21 for Dawes....so we did exactly what the Dogs were doing, only better! What a [censored].

We should have beaten them in 2010. Watching Lake go forward and sink us in the closing minutes still rankles me. I remember when the siren went punching the (empty) seat in front of me in frustration. I'd never done it before, haven't done it since. Hoping next year the only thing I will be punching is the air from copious amounts of MFC goals.....
