  1. everyone that i spoke to at work (im in sales and i talk sport to all sorts of people as an ice breaker) LOVES it, a pies fan i showed LOVES it, looked at it for 1/2 an hour. We are onto a winner

Kudos Melbourne Football Club, And jimmy and staff :D

  2. Isn't he a West Coast fan? He may even live over there.

Yes he does live in perth as he keeps calling WA home, also yes definitely a WCE supporter, but I have also heard he is a Dees supporter as well, also heard the same thing about Sheahan, in fact i remember reading something about sheahan wishing he played for melbourne once upon a time.

  3. I still don't believe we deserve to make it on the season as a whole (losing more games than you win is not a finals team IMO) however the teams above us don't seem to want to play finals either and keep falling over.

It would be remarkable, however unlikely.

One of those games is in fact a draw so it would be 10-1-11 (providing we dont win against hawthorn) that is close enough in my eyes as a 50 percent strike rate not too bad. And 50 percent of our games were losses and 50 percent weren't sooooooo

  4. Ha. Yes Rhino that is right. But do we really? Think about it.......

Go back to the game and watch. Collingwood smashed us for a half but kept missing. You were at another game if you didn't see that. I gave them credit for fighting back then and i still do. But bottom line we weren't good enough to win. Getting close doesn't win you grand finals. Winning the close ones does.

I agree with the rest of your post and that in essence is part of the reasoning behind mine.

where were collingwoods shots from??? It is all good they take shots but if they aren't gettable it's pointless taking them.

The dogs game and the early pies game has been discussed, certain decisions by a few involved prevented it from going another way from players, coaches and umpires...

  5. Why do people think players will stay because they think MFC will be a winning team? Not every player is motivated by success, some are playing for the money. Just look at Chris Judd. Every player has their price.

the "drug culture" was eventually going to catch up to WCE, Judd just left before it did.

  6. Remember how well a 'til end of career' contract worked out for Carlton with Koutoufides?? We've taken big risks with Flash & Chip signing them up for unusually long periods, we'd want to limit our exposure to those kinds of contracts. 2-3 year deals work just fine.

i just love the way he plays, look don't get me wrong i think he will be a 1 club player but with these days of GC and West Syd its got me nervous lol

  7. I'm getting worried. 2 days in a row of the media pumping our tires = certain loss coming up

You don't need to worry on the AFL Insider, only briefly talked about the Dees and mostly talked about Kangaroos. And Brad Scotts thoughts on things. The Dees mention was when the votes were tallied as well, so pretty small lol.

  8. Bartram is a better tackler. Watch the St. Kilda game and the Sydney game as proof

how so, both have been playing this year and most games mcdonald has out tackled him. As I said, it James McDonald wasn't ready to come in (I'm not even sure if he is) then I wouldn't want him out. But how else do you want James McDonald in and Brent Moloney?

  9. Oh I see. Because we don't want to have too many players who are excellent tacklers in the one team. Of course...

hmmm now who is not watching/ reading things. I said that James is better at it than Bartram. Bartram is going to be a good-great player but right now jnr is a better player. Thus as we are going interstate where we don't perform fantastically I would rather our best team playing.

Why criticise views. It is my view, move on. I wouldn't mind if you did it without I don't know... not being annoying?

  10. Bartram?!?!?! Good lord...

I sometimes think Barty could go forward and kick 12.1 and people here would drop him for missing that one shot.

Bartram had 80% efficiency from his 20 touches. Everyone's favourite new wonder boy Addam Maric, he of the 'laser boot', was at 56% from his 16 touches. A lot of people here don't seem to actually watch the game and take in what happens, rather just extract whatever solitary moments support your pre-conceived view of a player and continue to beat that same drum.

or some people do in fact watch the games.... don't assume...

Anyway bartram is the only one i can think of dont criticise about nothing. And why i chose batram was because of his tackling presence, james mcdonald tackles better. maric is a different player than james mcdonald. I wanted to get the skipper in.

And 56 percent disposal, it seemed more than that.

  11. Without wanting to alarm the panic-merchants, Mark Stevens claimed on Triple M prior to the weekend's game that securing Viney as a F/S was far from a done deal, and that there was talk that Jack was not really keen to move back to Victoria to play his football.

Not sure where Stevens got his information from but he intimated that the Dees would be doing a lot of work behind the scenes between now and then to try and make it happen (which included jokes of Schwabby arranging gift packages to be sent across to SA, etc). The crew then briefly discussed his alternative which would most likely be playing for Western Sydney and being based in Rooty Hill (where Blacktown Olympic Park is situated). As you can imagine with the Triple M crew the discussion quickly disintegrated upon mention of Rooty Hill, but it was interesting that Stevens felt the need to bring it up for discussion and you would have to wonder if it is a serious possibility that he would choose not to come to the Dees.

You can't shed any more light on where you got your information from can you, JJJ?

he also said that joe daniher was a done deal, now we know thats not done, i think mark stevens wants to pretend he is a news breaker.

  12. Not Bruce. He went pick 64 in the main draft. Although he is listed as having been drafted from the Melbourne Reserves. Odd that. Even odder is that our first pick in that draft was Brad Green at 19 and we traded for that pick. Why didn't we have a first round pick that year? We certainly didn't trade it away.

Not to sure if you know, but melbourne reserves although ran by melbourne were a different entity its like us drafting alex silvagni or someone from a vfl side with a non rookie pick

  13. Based on that list, with the exception of Watts and possibly Blease I wouldn't be terribly upset if any of those players went to GC anyway. The rest are completely replaceable. (This is also based on the assumption that neither McDonald nor Moloney would ever go to GC)

dang it nasher i was about to comment on jnr and beamer. Jones won't go out of that list either he loves the club going by his twitter, in fact having a lot to do with the clubs website as well at the moment.

Watts will sign, though what i think is we should put a "till end of career" contract in front of sylvia right now, by the looks of his performance in the song he is the most excited. :D You got to love that one of our better players (and the one with the most sheer skill imo) is the most excited :D
