That's why opinions are just that Nasher.......I would say that this is why threads like this are a bit of fun. Look back at who you did/didn't rate, who came on, who didn't. Anyways....I'll name mine looking at exposed form for the Dees, Under 18's & Casey form I've seen, but wont include players that are not yet at the club (Viney - not seen him play, not even on out list yet) no apologies to anyone as it is mere fantasy football. B - Garland, Warnock, Strauss H/B - Grimes (VC), Frawley, Davey C - Scully, Gysberts, Morton H/F - Sylvia, Watts, Tapscott F - Wonaeamirri, Jurrah, Petterd/Bate....(I'd put Bennell here and Bate or Sylvia to the bench if no Rick P) R - Jamar, Moloney ©, Trengove Inter - Fitzpatrick/Gawn, Blease, McKenzie, Rivers Emer - Bennell, Jones, Jetta, I'll stick with Rick Petterd still playing for us until I see him in GC....add in Bennell if no Rick P. Fitzpatrick or Gawn by 2013?? Purely gone with Fitzy cause I liked seeing his goal live for Casey on Saturday & others I've seen like this, he looks good. Anyway I look at it, it looks a premiership winning team to me!!

I'm a fan of the bristle....he says it how he says it without jumping on bandwagons of others opinions. He is as harsh on us as he is anyone that is not traveling too well, be it admin for football team.

Correct Rhino.....I saw the entire game, my two year old was enjoying a kick so we stayed ;( A terrible performance by the majority and not sure how Johnson or Bell could be named in the best, suppose someone had to be named, if you get in the best for continually fumbling, dropping marks and missing free targets (Johnson) then well done. Jurrah didn't really have a chance after the first qtr, maybe a bit of the 2nd as Willy just took over from there, the entire 3rd qtr was a demolition and not pretty to watch. Would be great to see Jurrah back ASAP but having a bye with Casey this week is not ideal but I don't think we will see him in Adelaide, likely to be another game at Casey and a likely call up for the Essendon game. On another note, Jack Fitzpatrick played his first senior game for Casey and while he played like the majority (not effective) he started fairly brightly and read a ball off the pack to snap a goal in the first quarter, for a guy of his size I thought this highlighted how agile he is. A little sign I took from a bad afternoon of footy.

Simply awesome goals by Buddy!! Just as awesome were the others posted here, especially the mighty OX!! What a special talent he was and yeah it's been said a thousand times but seeing what he could do he could easily been everything Carey was, maybe more....it's a big call because Carey is rated as the best ever by many people so where would have that left Ox? Seeing as the Red & Blue goggle debate is going on....how about we use the "Buddy was demon supporter line" and just say he learned from watching Garry Lyon and the Ox!!

The actual article does not show to me anything pointing towards 'hate', just a persons opinion......all the better to prove them wrong, but really who cares? I will agree that Russell sticks a boot into Melbourne, but that's fine, he is a fickle commentator without much substance IMO and he will swing with the rest when are consistently good. Richmond over the last mth have done enough for an 'opinion' to be warranted in their favor over us....no point looking at who they have beaten because we have beaten no one better than them at all, except for maybe Richmond themselves.

Im off to the game!! See the return of this excitement machine!!

Look...I hate this, don't like it at all but I guess will come to enjoy whatever format we are given. One thing I will say is that AFL really do for the most part, a great job at moving this competition and great game forward. If it were run as the NRL is we would all still be trekking to Windy Hill, Princes Park, Victoria Park *shudder*, we might even be wearing those shocking light blue numbers .....I did love the days in the outer at these grounds though! Change is good so I embrace it.....as long as the Dees are lifting premierships I don't care what conference we come out of. One question - if we bring in conferences or the like as in the USA, does this mean teams will be crowned Conference Champions/Premiers and then if lucky enough Premiers???
-
Maybe that's why the # 5 formally known as Chook (I now must refer to him as that bloke that plays at Northern Bullants!!) liked to do burnouts at those other grounds...showing his disdain for being punted around

People are correct when they say we should have never been sent/moved there, but it happened, it happened before I was born so I grew up knowing nothing but the Junction. Of course it didnt take long for me to understand that the MCG was/is and forever will be HOME and that we deserved much much better. It's taken my entire life, I am 35 so not too old but old enough where this should have been rectified along time ago. In saying that, I will have great, great memories of the Junction....Dee-Luded said it nicely for me.

Love the idea!!

It was a cracker of a post game interview Jaded!! I've got in on Fox IQ...not sure how to get it to the wider world..

I dislike the increase of teams within a finals series....right now IMO 7th/8th position are only there for the extra game/s for the AFL revenue. Yes I understand the marketing/revenue reasons, much the same as US sports going from 3 game finals series to 5 to now 7....its all about revenue so I tell myself look at the big picture...ok, but i still don't like any of it. I think it dilutes the quality somewhat. But it wont change and it WILL increase so I will stay focused on the alternatives!

I'm not sure that a conference system entirely takes out the inequity or fairness of a draw does it? It might within one's own conference but not through the entire roster of teams. It's interesting and I would love to reserve judgment and think about it some more. I understand the conference system in American sports for the most part, except for how they draw fixtures against teams in other conferences. My preference at this stage would be to have a Tasmanian team included and then one other team, possibly NT or a 3rd team in SA/WA perhaps - not really thought about the where from other than a Tassie team being included. But I would like to see 20 teams in the competition. This way everyone would play each other once, 19 games per year & removing the split round/bye's due to it being 3 weeks shorter. The only one glaring inequity would be the home/away factor, but this could see a draw/fixture done over 2 years - ie 2011 - Melbourne V Geelong @ MCG, WCE V Melbourne @ Subiaco, 2012 - Geelong V Melbourne @ Skilled, Melbourne V WCE @ MCG. IMO this all balances nicely?

It was Craig....Ross Lyon played with Fitzroy.

Do people have anything against us having the second training base/home down at Casey?? I live out that way and as a Casey resident and Demon fanatic it is obviously great for me and I love that we are there.
-
I must admit as a young fella I did enjoy heading into the Junction. Great surface and spot to watch training. I had my time under the Ironmonger stand helping to create those banners, short lived but enjoyable none the less. I was only 11/12 for the 87/88 finals series and the Junction was a great place to be around during these finals campaigns, as well as 2000. Except for the GF, I loved every minute of that last two mths of 2000 where we beat almost everyone in our path (I think North got us in a tight one that we SHOULD have won!) except those bloody dons! The day after 2000 GF I will remember well also, a lot of optimism for the years ahead, but sadly this did not eventuate as the up and down cycle continued up until the clean out and where we are today. It should have happened years ago but is a nice symmetry that we are heading to better facilities at a time when the entire club is, in every respect, getting so much better. RIP - Junction!

Ah cheers Bleasey.....artice in Age & Dees site said not sure if 1's or 2's so great that you have confirmed for me!! An extra hour's sleep!
-
From what other threads I have read Jurrah has trained fairly strongly over the past couple of weeks, why not start him in the one's? His type of injury would have allowed some miles through the legs and I'm not sure a player such as him would benefit much from a two's return.....Ok I am being selfish as I live out in Berwick and wont get to Burbank in time for the two's!!
-
Yeah great news.....if you can get a look at Cam Schwabs twitter page you will see many pics he has taken of the new facility.

Nice to be open minded Dan but Robert Flower was a superstar. I am of the opinion, probably biased, that Melbourne's great champions aren't anywhere near recognised as many of the other clubs. The debate a couple of weeks ago about our golden era and the players involved not being represented in the hall of fame as would be expected highlights this further for me. Maybe that's down to say Hawthorns 80's era being played out in a more commercial age than the dees 50's/60's teams, but again I would say there are players from other teams in that era more recognised than some of ours, except internally of course. Robbie was everything that Ablett is. Probably different in the way that Ablett is evasive through the tackle and Robbie was more evasive in open space and going around the player. The blind turn and the balk...don't see that enough today!

Blooding my two year old through Casey games currently, he gets to run all day and Dad gets to keep an eye on the dees....everybody happy!! We'll be there....hopefully Liam Jurrah?!

Love the insiders DeeStarr so keep the info coming

Well argued Dappa....I was looking at as Morton & Bruce fighting for the one position rather than simply bashing Cam and wanting him gone. In my opinion I still believe this to be the case but if there is room for both and a firing Cam Bruce I'm all for it....just not sure if he can be as effective as we need him to be.

You can find them on the AFL site jnr...

I see where your coming from on this but would agree that there is still a lot that Bailey has to prove, I think coaches can get away with a bit using the 'rebuilding mantra' that is so prevalent. Hardwick at Richmond IMO has at least put his stamp on that group quite quickly where I don't think Bailey was as quick to do so, having said that the majority would have seen Hardwick play and understand that what he asks of his players he did out on the field, that is not quite so obvious with Bails. I think next year will tell the tale for Bails...the forward line is the final piece of the puzzle as far as I am concerned. With players such as Sylvia, Jurrah, Petterd, Wonna, Bennell, Tapscott, Hughes, Maric, Fitzpatrick, Stef Martin all missing for various reasons this year at different times added to others such as Watts, Bate, Jetta, Dunn, Miller and Green there are an abundance of options. Barring injury I would expect to see this all come together somewhat next year and for us to be seriously knocking on the door of the Top 8. If we are still struggling to kick decent scores then he will be under scrutiny. Lets see...
