Perhaps we simply over rate our quality. I have two mates who tell me constantly that I over rate our players The reason we struggle every other week may be that we are just not good enough!

On the subject of junior we are in total agreement. Bloody terrible.

Mate take off your rose glasses. We have lost one of the top three league ruckman for 8 weeks and one of our top three defenders for the season. The first two back ups, Spencer is out for the season and Fitzpatrick 6 - 8 weeks We have lost probably our best defender for at least 6 weeks We have lost one of our few grunt players in Bail for a similar period. Trengove is out for another two matches Scully may get back for the second half of the year. On top of that the form of our captain is so poor that he should be dropped to Casey. I cannot see us improving on 2010 in my wildest dreams. I see no more then 7 wins at best for the season.

So Choko On that basis we have another 6.7 years of DB to go. Not sure I can go the distance. There is of course another thing wrong with your arguement. Malthouse got them into 2 grand finals in a lot less time than 10 years and while they had a few big losses I don't remember anything to rival our disasters.

Agree DemonWA based on saturdays effort Jetta stays in at least he goes and gets the ball. Wona has in IMO produced very few "good" games over his time at the MFC. just quarters here and there and saturday he was poor. Bennell I do not rate and he came on when everyone else had played half a game and still had no influence. Wona and Bennell at Casey next week for me, they give very little over the long haul.

The article is Spot on for mine, it has been a problem at Melbourne for a long time. I believe it will be difficult to change, DB has had 3+ years and a large change of personel and achieved no culture change. Given the injuries we now have I struggle to see us winning more than 5-6 games this year. That being the case DB is gone so what for 2012. I doubt that an untried coach could achieve a culture change it needs a older successful Coach who has the steel to force it through. It seems to me that there are only two people who could produce the required change at present. Both may be doubtful starters as coaches but IMO they are Malthouse and Matthews. Malthouse will be hard to get, if he wants to leave there will be a bidding war as there will be a number of spots available next year. Matthews has shown no sign of wanting to return to coaching but he has the steely determination to get the job done. Neither of them would be cheap but you get what you pay for, both are multi GF winners at different clubs. We should do whatever it takes to get Matthews IMO he is the guy for the job.

It took Jamar a while that I remember. I think Martin is coming along nicely. Not sure what some people expect, but among other things he has a heart. Went all day and never stopped trying, which is more than can be said for a few others.
