  1. Yes!Yes!Yes! You can find a stat on just about anything but the ultimate stat is that games are won by the side who scores the most goals. Too often we simply don't give ourselves the opportunity to convert a good possession in the HB or midfield into a goal.
  2. Based on our performances I haven't been able to bring myself to cast votes this year. However, I continually notice Jones getting heaps of stick. I reckon this is unfair. He does make skill errors but that appears to becoming compulsory at Melbourne. BUT he does does bust his gut every week and along with Sylvia is a player who is prepared to put his body on the line every time. The other guy I'd like to mention is Jack Watts. His consistent improvement and football smarts are showing us the fantastic player he will become. Bailey's handling of his development has been one his few coaching successes.
  3. Martin cannot continue to carry the ruck. Newton is (and has been for 4 years) useless. Give Gawn a go. His height should also provide a marking target and contest up forward.
  4. This guy is a breath of fresh air and he's tough. Let's give him some time in the midfield - especially at centre clearances
  5. Agree fully with Spencer - he has (and will) continue to develop especially as a tall marking option. Also agree that MacDonald is a poor disposer but on Thursday's effort that now appears compulsory.
  6. Like the team but need to find a spot for "Junior" who had the G and D we are sadly lacking at the moment
  7. Great post I have also been a 50 year plus supporter and agree that our "effort" was right up there with the lowlights of that period. What topped it off for me was Bailey's understatement of the century that we lacked "intensity". At least Matt Primus had the good grace and honesty to apologise for his side's showing.
  8. Well i'm not sure what syndrome i've got but I was (and still am) so angry and appalled after the West Coast fiasco that I considered cutting up my member card and sending it back. Wiser heads prevailed however when my wife advised me not to do that. Rather, she said, lend it to people you hate so they can waste 2 hours of their life watching the rubbish MFC presents as football.
  9. "I didn't expect the team to stand up, nor did I expect the team to win. I expected them to be intimidated, and shown up by a young, promising side." Any team will get beaten by a better side - that's sport. But we as supporters/members are entitled to expect our team to "stand up" That is compete, battle, show some pride and heart. Melbourne did not stand up in any sense. It was a pathetic performance for which the team should feel ashamed.
  10. All I can say is I think it would be appropriate if I removed the "optimistic" from my name.
  11. If for no other reason, you'd hope this works just to stick it up Hawthorn
  12. "itll all be sorted out.....by her......" Failed to "man up". Before you know it we'll have a female Prime minister.
  13. This thread is doing my head in. If they still had institutions I'd be the number one customer
  14. It's been proven they have no consideration
  15. I reckon Benno has hit the cot with his girlfriend while he can
  16. Yes well thanks I think. Real problem here. I have supported Melbourne since an unknowing child. Now that revalation has has struck can an athiest suport the existence of Demons? Don't answer this , the red is empty and I don't need any more confusion in my life
  17. Give me a break - I'm an athiest for god's sake.
  18. Come on Benno - what are you going to do? You have recieved some very sage advice. Decision time. I cant wait any longer my has told me to do the dishes.
  19. OK time to "Man Up". If it all comes down to it - is it the footy or the girlfriend?
  20. And it is a given that they will not know who their father is.
