  1. You won't get a mutiny against a first year coach.

I have to say, I picked us for 16th before the season and I still think we will finish 16th.

Whether Neeld is the man for the job or not, Blind Freddy could see we didn't have a midfield, we lack leaders and we were always going to need to go backwards to go forwards.

Neeld was going to get a job at any one of Adelaide, WB and Melbourne, and he chose us. I would say he is the least of our problems.

Wrong - know for a fact that he was never going to get the WB job even if he wanted it

  2. We have our share of players with poor disposals in our back line in recent years Grimes, Garland, Bartram and co but we have a new winner by far McDonald - he I'd deplorable

  3. From what I've been told by several Collingwood supporters (albeit word of mouth) he's actually fairly uncompromising. Strong willed, not just another 'whiteboard tactical genius.'

Absolutely stupid comment seeing he hasn't been at the club for even a single day yet.

Out of all the assistants going around I think we have made the right choice. Personally I would have rather seen an established coach ie. Malthouse or Lyon, but that would be in an ideal world. As i've said at this stage I'm fairly happy.

Honestly - how would Collingwood supporters know whats going on in the box.

As per previous poster - a very underwhelming appointment.

MFC fails again to land a big fish

  4. Yet in two years where we were absolute poo he was one who was developing nicely.

He has had a poor season. No-one will say any different. But the speed at which posters here are willing to write him off is astounding.

    21 Years old.

    21.

Judd is arguably in his prime at 27. (And no i am not saying Cale is the next Judd)

    Give the kid time FFS.

There needs to be a moron meter around here. We have posters writing off 19-21 year olds at will and baying for blood. Talk about being completely unreaistic and having no patience or foresight.

Let me say it again. 21.

Morton is a required player and will be given opportunity to work through his problems and get back to his best...

I think Judd may have won a Brownlow at 21

  5. I have been a devout supporter of this club for 13 years. I go to every Melbourne game, I buy a membership, I donate to the club, but I am absolutely 100% done.

This is not an emotional, angry, over the top reaction, this is me making a decision that until Dean Bailey and Brad Green are no longer there, I am not going to participate in supporting this club.

My membership money will still be there, but I won't be.

I have had a gutfull of being kicked in the nuts by this club.

If Bailey is coaching us next week and Brad Green is not rotting at Casey where he should have been weeks ago, then I won't be wasting my time on this club.

Watching that first half was like having someone punch me in the face over and over again. I feel physically ill.

Never ever ever again should we have to put up with this sort of [censored].

quite a remarkable post in light of those that you posted in the hawthorn crowd size thread last week

  6. I think you guys miss the idea of playing Watts back. We didn't have grimes and warnock was having a dog of a day. We needed some decent disposal in the back half. Watts provided that.

Watts has shown some good signs over the last 4 weeks but to say that he provided decent disposal last night is a bit rich.

  7. The only reason Newton is even on our list is to play that second backup ruck role.

He is so much better than Dunn in the ruck it's not even funny. If you're gonna play Dunn in the ruck you may as well play Jurrah in there.

Having said that, he is not a ruckman, and even though he started well, he made so many dumb decisions today that it left me with no doubt as to why I can't see any future for him.

OP was 100% correct with his original comments re Newton.

Newton up forward in 1st quarter was fantastic and gaining confidence which he desperately needs then moved into the ruck??

Put Dunn in there instead (or Jurrah to mix it up)and he would probably be equally as bad as Newton but at least you've still got someone lively and dare I say it on fire up forward and building confidence at the same time.

God help us if he was only retained as a back up ruckman.

  8. Get that pale, weakling, whimpering, underdeveloped, white Ethiopian Morton off, and get the Mo on!!

First laugh of the night. Off to GWS I suggest - there may be some recruiters stupid enough to believe there is this perceived potential still there.

  9. he had a bad game. when you have no options and no movement he is pressured to kick without thought. its poor coaching i reckon, move him up the ground to get confidence. you cant rip a player because he made a few mistakes, rip a player who consistently makes mistakes, i.e dean bailey.(not that he was a good player) bring in todd viney already!

    [/quot

If you regard bad disposal and turnovers as mistakes, he is very consistent at both.

  10. Save and except for today, Bruce has been quite good in the past few weeks and I have been one of his biggest critics. But why on earth is he ever allowed to kick out from behinds. Twice in the last quarter when precision was required he kicked out, basically to see it come back over his head. Bruce not kicking in should be a non-negotiable.

  11. The more i think about who should be dropped the more i think that it should just be [censored] supporters who make these stupid polls

    Yep total flogs.

All the players are beyond reproach.

Bruce should continue kicking out from kick ins. Garland shouldn't be moved from class forwards after getting smashed. Johnson should be planted in the goal square after not taking a mark insie 50. Bennell should continue to be brave.

West Coast are very difficult opponents don't forget particulary at the MCG

  12. I don't think it's the quality of disposal that's the problem, it's his decision making that can sometimes let him down.

I agree that his decision making needs improvement and I'm sure that will come. However I still think the quality of his disposal is questionable in the sense that last night (was wet) but also other games he has determined a target and he has missed them clearly.

  13. I invite you to watch the replay to see how very wrong you are! He was clean and precise with his disposal today. Your football knowledge is surely lacking here.

I don't need to watch the replay - I was there and also there for the last 5 weeks. I suggest that football knowledge is lacking and invite you to watch the last 6 replays as well as last years too - you've been reading too many Herald Sun features. Bruce may have been serviceable early 2000's but anyone with any football knowledge can see that his past it.

  14. Yes it is.

    And it is ridiculous indeed.

YM is taking a break for a while.

It's not player bashing - its reality.

The sooner people (including Bailey) realise Bruce is not part of our future the better. His disposable under pressure and not under pressure are deplorable.

  15. Umm hello a CHF to take contested marks and kick goals hey??

    Are you from the 80's???

Once again Miller has been made a scapegoat

Umm hello, I suggest that you go back through all the premiers in the 2000s (not the 80s)and check the value of their CHFs and their contested marking/goal kiking ability.

With respect to Miller he gives his all, but he is just not up to it and was overated from the start. He is not solely responsible for the team's woes in terms of being a scapegoat, however he has been consistently bad and on a good day just average. I know its been done to death, but besides that final against FREMANTLE where he took a number of non-contested marks up the ground, I can not easily recall one other valuable performance.

  16. It's not in any way a reflection on Dunn. We're playing as many young and fringe players as we can through the pre-season. Every one of our club officials has said it "it's just a matter of getting games into the young guys" or words to that effect. Do you really think Fitzpatrick is forcing anybody out of the first team? All we are doing through the preseason is getting games into the guys who need them most.

If he hasn't been injured it is certainly a reflection on Dunn - what a perfect way setting in the NAB CupChallenge over the past 2 weeks to test him again the forward line. The last time I checked he was a young player and it would be ideal to get game time into him. According to your argument Green, Miller, McDonald need more match time than him?
