Was more of a little toe to the throat.
-
Ah yes, forgot about Salo. Handy.
-
Watts and JKH in for Wagner and Stretch next week. Hannan has been poor but has credits in the bank.
-
Hibberd is just a star.
-
One positive about JKH is that he seems to have found an extra gear. He burned some of his opponents off with ease today. I think he's worth persisting with.
-
Overall that was a good hitout for the AFL players. Quality opponent and very little time afforded in possession.
-
Honestly I dont think anyone smashed the door down. JKH could have been the one but let himself down with some of his execution. Bugg was okay, very good at the coalface but error riddled when in space. Some poor forward entries. Watts was decent with those trademark bullet passes and cracked in hard when placed on ball although padded his stats towards the end. Frost would be worth a call up but whether there's a spot for him is another matter.
-
JKH 18 tackles
-
Watts reported for charging. Nothing in it.
-
He and Watts look the standouts.
-
Bugg misses a set shot almost dead in front. I was shocked too.

You have to keep in mind that Lynch will always stick up for Brisbane, and when they're the 18th placed side I think it's okay to afford him that luxury. Lynch's argument was that Brisbane's top liners in the midfield were at least the equal of Melbourne's or arguably better. To illustrate he asked Roos to name Melbourne's best midfielder, to which he eventually said Jones. Lynch responded with Beams being Brisbane's best. Straight off the bat you can see that he has a point. I love Jonesy but when he's named as the best midfielder you're not off to the most intimidating start. Brisbane's trio of Beams, Zorko amd Rockliff is elite. It is at least the equal of Jones, Viney and Oliver. To that extent Lynch has a point. Melbourne however has a better spread of talent through the midfield which is partly why they sit 11 spots higher on the ladder. Ultimately though it was just banter between two good mates. It was no doubt a rehash of discussions they've previously had off air.

I'm a Bugg fan but wowee his stock has risen in his time away judging by some of these posts. Play him at Casey. He'll be champing at the bit and I wouldn't be surprised to see him play a blinder ala his game where he had 30 odd possessions and kicked 3 or 4 goals. Coaches will then have a decision to make. His niggle is an asset but temperament def has a cloud over it. He went missing for the remainder of that game against Sydney and we can't afford that.

Can't remember who said that Simon Madden would've given away 50 free kicks a game if it was adjudicated the same way, Max's reaction after the third free was the first time I can recall him looking really [censored] off. It takes a lot to get Max genuinely annoyed but they achieved that on the weekend.

Stretch for Wagner is the only change I'd contemplate and it's something of a sideways swap.
-
Talented but inconsistent. 15 goals in his first 5 games this season was looking promising but then he dropped away. Not the worst project player to take on but at 25 how much improvement is there still to come? I'm closer to a half hearted yes than a categorical no. Provided he came cheap.

Oliver and Hibberd will definitely make the squad of 40. Jetta should make the squad but he's just the sort of player you can see being overlooked. Garlett's last few weeks may cost him a squad position. He needs to smash the last couple of weeks to put himself back in the frame. That said, he'd still be a worthy inclusion as it stands. i would tip Oliver to be a greater chance than Hibberd to make the final 22 due to the amount of competition for those back six spots. As great an achievement as it would be for Oliver, and as much as I wanted to get Hibberd to the club, and as much as I love Jeffy, Jetta is the one I'd most like to see get the nod. The great thing is that all four would be a great story in their own right.

Fun day at your place yesterday?
-
Spot on. He wasn't that bad yesterday and seems to always attract a couple of defenders which frees up his teammates. On another day he could have kicked a couple instead of one being smothered and another being off line. He doesn't look overly spent to me. Leave him in and leave him forward. We need our best side every week now and he's definitely in our best side.

Congratulations.

Harmes may be coming of age. Had my doubts but all his AFL attributes were on show today. Yet to turn 22. Pedo tends to get the boot after one average game. He deserves greater leniency because the average games are few and far between. If we do make finals, I want him in the side. Gus was the story of the day. He's gonna be a star. Nothing surer.

6. Pedersen 5. Harmes 4. Jones 3. Oliver 2. Brayshaw 1. Lewis HM: Jetta - Stood up at pivotal moments as he does every week.

Best Mitch ever

Saints have been absolutely woeful. Should be ten goals up.
