  1. Thanks. Now that's all I'm going to see when I watch it.
  2. It's pretty badass actually. I like it alot. Excitement is definitely growing.
  3. The panel spoke excitedly about the young core we have assembled, Brad Johnson in particular. The distinction was drawn between us and the Saints, with the Saints still needing to draft potential stars, and our potential stars already on the list. Of course it helps that we beat St Kilda in the NAB, with most fans and commentators having the memory of s goldfish. But it's still nice to hear people talking so glowingly about Melbourne.
  4. Nah.
  5. It's a tough draw in my opinion, especially when compared to the Saints who are positioned similarly. Whether it ranks exactly fourth hardest I don't know but it doesn't seem an outlandish claim. It does potentially allow for a good start to the year which can provide early momentum. But we need to take advantage of it.
  6. Pav is a fair call. Superstar who could've left several times over and was there through some dark days. Bob Murphy I'd have equal with Jonesy.
  7. I'd challenge anyone to name a player in the league who deserves it more.
  8. Watched it tonight. Had to smile that basically the entire segment was pumping us up big time, and then the conclusion was that we are still a long way from finals and wins aren't the most important thing. The 4th hardest fixture still stings. Really can't understand it. Gold Coast have the 3rd easiest fixture. St Kilda the 2nd easiest I think. We've been burned big time in that regard.
  9. Ridiculous. Not to mention wrong. From the post match thread: Farmer, I'll tell you what's tedious. Posters like yourself who carry this mindset of anyone who is critical of a player being a "hater", and if said player has a good game, that it should be rubbed in that poster's face as you and others choose to do. Everyone can see Tommy's potential, which is what makes the simple errors all the more frustrating. He's an elite defender who has to work very hard on some basic elements of his game, which no doubt he is doing. Sunday's game is the bar for Tommy. He is good enough for that to be the standard. We as supporters are going to get frustrated at times, and we are going to hold our "better" players to a higher standard. Get used to it.
  10. Jeffy kicking goals for fun, on and off the field.
  11. This is a perfect illustration of how we could send shockwaves through the comp this year if we keep a healthy list and the game plan clicks together. Imagine the reaction of the dill who grouped us with Carlton pre-season if we manage to make finals. The next few years are going to be fun
  12. Never should've switched to number 31 (joking....kinda). His NAB3 wasn't great, so the timing of the thread doesn't help his cause too much. He has played a lot better than that. The older brigade (Grimes, Garland, Dunn to an extent) can at times look a step behind the pace of the newer players in terms of decisonmaking. It's sticking out more with the acquisition of players like Oliver and Kennedy who are smart and quick with their ball use. i do however think you could do a lot worse for depth than Grimes. Whether he's happy staying on as depth is another matter. I hope we see the best of him this season. He's a good clubman.
  13. Seriously poor for the AFL to green light this. Some may see it as minor but things like this really do make a difference. The Dogs arguably have the right to be even filthier given they are a team that played finals last year.
  14. I understand that to a degree, but as IT mentions, some key attributes we have seen is his ability win his own ball and an ability to read the play, get into good positions etc. i don't think it's a matter of saying whether he will or won't become a good player. I'm certainly not saying he WILL. I just think it's far too early to be making a judgement on how well his abilities will translate to AFL level. I also cringe a little, but you have to admit this time it feels a lot different. Viney, Brayshaw, Salem....we're talking a different breed to Morton, Tapscott and Strauss.
  15. I find it staggering that anyone would even motion towards putting the red line through Neal-Bullen already.
  16. There was one that had to have been at least 30 metres. It was bizarre.
  17. It's a moot point isn't it? I fully suspect Goodwin will continue in his hands on role and influence over the playing group and game style this season. Roos will remain senior coach and sit in the main chair on game day but it's a collaborative effort. I don't see the big deal. I did enjoy T Mac in the post match shutting down King's insinuation that he must be "loving being reprogrammed", trying again to suggest that Goodwin is releasing the Roos shackles. When Tommy doesn't agree with something, he certainly lets the interviewer know.
  18. I don't mind Kyrgios. Another mountain out of molehill situation that one. Every tennis player arcs up at the umpire at some point. Murray does it all the time. Kyrgios does it and it's the main story out of the match. We have a preoccupation with bashing the ever living stuffing out of our sports stars. Kyrgios bites back. I say good on him. Hogan will convert his next few set shots and this will once again fade into the background as a talking point.
  19. It's a good point. I was surprised to see that we ended up losing the hit out count fairly convincingly. Gawn is a beast but I hope to see Pedomyh chipping in a bit more when the real stuff starts. Maxy is too important to run him into the ground.
  20. Mountain out of a molehill. I enjoy Dunstall's commentary but he leaps all over any set shot routine that isn't textbook perfect. He's done it before with Jesse, only he has slotted the goal so he's had to concede that it works for him. Yesterday, because he was having an off day, the routine was all wrong and needed to change. The second set shot wasn't that bad from memory. It was off line but it was straight.
  21. I honestly think Mick was doing us a favour. He had to have been. It was either that or he had lost the plot because Pick 61 is ludicrous for a player of his age with his fairly recent goal kicking record. When you consider for example how desperate Richmond are for a quality small forward, so much so that they are creaming themselves over poor young Rioli who is going to have a great amount of expectation on his shoulders from the get go. Even before Garlett showed the form he has, it seemed like an absolute steal. It is proving to be that and then some.
  22. Bernie and Jonesy pretty much to have to be BOG to warrant a mention. You just expect them to be at a high level.
  23. Favourite player. Could push for AA selection in the next few years.
  24. Yeah nah, Dwayne is the worst. He's the only commentator that has ever caused me to turn off a game. Annoying doesn't begin to describe him.
