  1. Looks like the montage is working! There'll be a few more photos to add to it too.
  2. Yeah, I thought this response would be the second post in the thread. I was just trying to pour some water on the Scully-is-leaving let's-organise-a-mass-suicide fire. Unfortunately to do that, I kinda had to ignore common sense for the greater good. Fortunately some of our supporters either agreed, or aren't too sharp. Either way, this calmed the situation a little. So keep it to yourself Nasher!
  3. ? No MFCSS here. Just tempering of expectations.
  4. Like what? I can't remember a single thing he got right. Don't tell me you are going off his role on TFS where he just warmed the seat for Hutchy...
  5. Good post, but it tiptoes the line in some spots. I think "Paki" is ok here, especially as we tend to just use it as an abbreviated term for Pakistani. In the UK it is a racist term used to describe anyone of "Asian" descent (as opposed to "oriental"). It's like swear words - we use words that have the exact same meaning that are acceptable - the ones that aren't are due to connotations and further meaning behind the literal definition. In this case, the term "land of falafel" may be ignorant, and not necessarily racist. But I believe the intent from Eddie was to use it in a jocular derogatory sense, so it is racist. Albeit a fairly tame racist jibe as far as some of them go. The fact is, there are a lot more lebanese and shops selling falafel in the west of Sydney than there are here in Melbourne. That's not racist, it's just how it is. I like falafel.
  6. Obviously racism is a topic where you need to tread carefully, but people can be a little precious with it. In the end, it's the intent that really matters. I guess I agree that Eddie did intend it to be a jibe. You can be offended by something and still be too precious.
  7. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/give-us-this-day-our-bailey-cred/story-e6frf9jf-1226004060751 Consistency, especially with such a young experiences team, will be key. They are talented and capable, but consistency will be hard to maintain. I think bottom of the 8 is where we should be aiming, but not tearing our hair out if we finish 9th.
  8. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/dean-bailey-reveals-great-regret/story-e6frf9jf-1226004047912 I know this is about something that the club handled poorly, but I can't help gaining more respect for Bailey reading this. And I feel gutted for Junior. I didn't realise it was such a shock to him. What a class act to handle it the way he did.
  9. I don't really see anything wrong with it. How precious do you want to be? There are a lot of Lebanese in that area. It's a fact. It's like saying Lygon St is the home of pizza and pasta.
  10. A bit like what happened with Grimes. No cause for concern, in my opinion. jeez we're an impatient lot...
  11. Wait - I thought Trengove had a 3 year contract, running out in 2012. According to this article: I don't think this is correct, but if it is we are in a very good position. Either way, the way Trengove is talking, he seems like a sure thing to stay.
  12. Surely you must be kidding! Damien Barrett is one of the worst sports journalists going around. There's a lot of bad ones, but he is an absolute shocker.
  13. And this one: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/107618/default.aspx Great to hear from the young fella. Timing couldn't be better.
  14. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/stay-with-me-tom-scully-melbourne-teammate-jack-trengove/story-e6frf9jf-1226003907239 Stick fat Scully! We'll be fine with kids like this...
  15. Not below a lot of its supporters, it seems. I agree, I think it's pathetic & embarrassing.
  16. No, he is not. Like I said a few days ago, Gubby Allan worked for Eddie as list manager, so it is highly likely his old mate is doing his GWS mate a favour. Or just reporting the whispers passed on by his old mate. Gubby admitted doing exactly this when he was trying to convince Buckley to move to the pies from Brisbane.
  17. I read that. I just considered it irrelevant. GWS will still offer him a truckload of cash, which we won't be able to match. It will also be an amount you or I wouldn't be able to pass up. I just think it's important to keep in perspective that the amount we will be able to offer Scully, will still be enough to mean he can live very comfortably.
  18. I actually got the feeling someone thought they were being clever and funny with the use of Kevin Sheedy's initials. I may be wrong, but even the use of capitals, as it was written "Knee Soreness". We'll surely know by Friday.
  19. What more could WM say..? @Jaded, to say not any one of us would turn that money down... It is not a choice between all that money and nothing. It's a choice between a hell of a lot of money, and an absolute truckload of money. Both will keep him very comfortable for the rest of his days. Who of us is to say that if we already had $600K that we'd jump at the chance to get $1mil? I'm sure some of us would be that greedy, but some of us would see other things as the priority once we're already at the $600K stage.
  20. I don't understand these pessimistic conclusions. Aren't you people able to put yourself in the kid's shoes? What would you do? I know I'd wait. Even if I'd decided on GWS, I'd give MFC til the end of the season to convince me otherwise, and vice versa. Why would he feel he needs to rush the decision? Wouldnt want to end up like Ablett reportedly was last year - already signed up to GC, but having second thoughts...
