  1. I can't understand what you gain from posting in this thread, ADC. Are you even a demons supporter? Do you get off on the schadenfreude of the whole situation? Frankly, it's pathetic and counter-productive to spread this irrational fear and anxiety. You are merely doing Gubby Allan's bidding. In fact, from now on, those that take such a stance shall be referred to by me as Gubby's henchmen. And you're henchman número uno.
  2. That's fair enough then DaisyCutter. I thought you meant Scully could then credibly deny that he had said no contract had been signed, when his management made the statement on his behalf. That's a little bit too clear cut for him to weasel out of (not that I think he would even try).
  3. Wow. I didn't closely read DC's post the first time around. I thought you were referring to the fact it would NOT be considered credible deniability. That's ludicrous.
  4. No hysteria. I just don't think it's acceptable to have been posted on the AFL website, considering what they represent. I also am yet to see another opinion piece like it on the AFL website. Are you trying to create hysteria Mikey?
  5. The AFL website is not a media outlet. It shouldn't be publishing negative comment pieces.
  6. I've seen plenty of opinion pieces on the AFL website, but like their other articles, they are all fluff pieces promoting the game and supporting players / clubs / AFL figures, never daring to show them in a negative light. As it should be - the AFL is there to govern and represent the interests of all AFL clubs and should not be critical of them. An opinion piece by a writer on behalf of the AFL, criticising one of it's clubs and taking the stance that they should "cop it sweet", is blatantly unacceptable.
  7. DON'T CRY FOR MELBOURNE Since when did the AFL start doing editorials? I think this is reprehensible, from the AFL who should be impartial. This is clearly aimed at MFC and paints us as having no right for complaint. And when bringing up Jeff White, they conveniently ignore that we traded for him. It cost us a lot from memory.
  8. I agree with Barassi. Except my love for MFC overrides my love for the game as a whole. Plus, I think GWS will do just fine without Scully.
  9. Again! You're like a broken bloody record! His management has released a statement on his behalf covering your request, as you would expect of any 2nd year AFL player. The kid is not a seasoned media performer like Daisy Thomas or Marc Murphy, nor should he be expected to be. Are you Kevin Sheedy? All you seem to want to do is feed the irrational frenzy... So much common sense and logic is continually being ignored.
  10. Has he? I took it to mean he made up the bit about it being his cousins girlfriends hairdresser, or whatever. In any case, it was some serious left-field thinking.
  11. That rumour about Schwabby starting the frenzy is so twisted, you couldn't make that stuff up. If Scully signs early as you say, I will hail him as a genius. It would truly be a brilliant move. Nothing could ignite the passion of our supporter group like the seemingly-certain prospect of losing our young future star, then the elation of retaining him. Wickedly delicious.
  12. I could never get tired of standing on the throat of Essendon. I hope we play them and grind our heel into the mud.
  13. Well and truly considered the quoted $6mil over 6 years as fanciful, but for the sake of argument I've accepted it's what most people will believe. No one except Scully's management and GWS would have any chance of knowing the correct figures.
  14. At Etihad Stadium on Thursday 24th February. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/eagles-earn-home-nab-cup-quarter-final/story-e6frf9jf-1226005762271 Surely it'll be St Kilda.
  15. Bingo. Scully's management would have to be incredibly naive to fall for the "sign now, or the offer comes off the table..."
  16. Maybe predicting isn't so bad. It's expectation we should avoid.
  17. Without having a chance to even see what MFC were offering? You think Scully was that desperate to get out? Your theory has no legs at all. It's practically a thalidomide baby.
  18. There a formal and informal discussions. There may have been no formal discussions, but I'm sure Scully's management would have informally garnered an idea of what GWS would offer.
  19. Don't forget after Jurrah in the PSD, we got McKenzie in the rookie draft.
  20. No of course not, he is not reporting a bigfooty rumour. He is reporting straight from his old mate Gubby Allan's mouth. The fact that Gubby is obviously lying to suit his own agenda doesn't concern Eddie - Eddie just gets the headline he wants. Btw - not sure there's a need for multiple threads covering the same topic.
  21. I enjoyed this post. Purely because you have used logic and made solid arguments.
  22. Ok, you think Scully has purposely and carefully worded his statement to include a caveat, so in essence he is not lying to the football public. What could be the possible reasoning behind this? What is his motivation? If he is going to deceive everyone, what is the point? Deception by omission is just as reprehensible as deception by lying. He won't have a clear conscience. I don't know what makes you think he'd waste his time and energy on such a detail. If he were going to deceive us all, it is much easier to just release a blanket statement denying everything.
