  1. thank you i'll rip out this one, sorry its a year old, but it shows the support for our club is nowhre near as bad as everyone seems to think it is: 2010 ATTENDANCES http://www.footywire...010&t=R&h=A&s=A Team Games Total Average 1.Collingwood Magpies 22 1,306,188 59,372 2.Carlton Blues 22 1,046,579 47,572 3.Essendon Bombers 22 1,009,837 45,902 4.Geelong Cats 22 983,498 44,704 5.Hawthorn Hawks 22 922,136 41,915 6.Richmond Tigers 22 834,699 37,941 7.St Kilda Saints 22 831,799 37,809 8.Melbourne Demons 22 799,889 36,359 9.Western Bulldogs 22 742,546 33,752 10.Fremantle Dockers 22 702,598 31,936 11.West Coast Eagles 22 693,328 31,515 12.Adelaide Crows 22 686,462 31,203 13.Sydney Swans 22 653,050 29,684 14.Brisbane Lions 22 639,309 29,060 15.North Melbourne Kangaro22 603,586 27,436 16.Port Adelaide Power 22 533,624 24,256 ALL 176 6,494,564 36,901 MEMBERSHIPS http://www.afl.com.a...26/default.aspx 1.Collingwood 57,408 2.Hawthorn 53,978 3.Adelaide 45,545 4.West Coast Eagles 44,160 5.Essendon 40,589 6.Carlton 40,480 7.Geelong Cats 40,326 8.Fremantle 39,854 9.St Kilda 39,021 10.Richmond 35,960 11.Melbourne 33,358 12.Western Bulldogs 32,077 13.Port Adelaide 29,092 14.Sydney Swans 28,671 15.North Melbourne 26,953 16.Brisbane Lions 26,779 ALL 614,251 AVE 38,391 I hope it is noted that in that year we were 7200 members behind 5th biggest in the comp, and also 5600 showing up every week from 5th biggest in the comp. That's despite getting sunday night fixtures against Freo and for being a cellar dwelling side for a loooong time.. If you think these margins between us and the 'big boys' are big, you are kidding youself. Harden up. Sorry.. here it is in a nutshell.. Hawks/Bombers regarded as 'big boys' well THE ACTUAL FACTS show that an increase of 13-18% in our figures would put us on par with them, which is ziltch considering we have had terrible on-field results and poor commercial fixturing for a long time. Like every other club, if we start winning we ill see a swell in support and how the AFL schedules our games. 2. as far as i'm concerned that is pornography
  3. few thoughts... - 'he went easy on his knee in 2011' this is an idiotic statement. If his knee requires caution what happens in R1 2012 or is he going to 'go easy on it' for his whole career? -if there is in fact nothing wrong with his knee then WTF is Doc Larkins smoking writing that piece basically saying the kid is doomed to an injury-plagued career? -does anyone care about the sport of football anymore or do we only care about how fast a bloke can run? I would like to see some sort of chart comparing the best 3km time-trial efforts in the comp with who the actual most effective players are, I suspect there would be little correlation. -regardless of what happens now, we will have two mid-first round draft picks and the salary cap space to allow us to snag Mitch Clark and hang on to Trengove, Watts etc. There is still every chance that long-term we will end up being the winners of this GWS episode and that's just a fact -be thankful he has gone to this pathetic mob who will cellar-dwell for years, possibly his whole career. What would really have hurt would have been if he had gone to the Bombers/Tigers or something, become a star in a side that ultimately cost us a premiership way too much hand-wringing over this issue, move on people
  4. who could guess? we have a good dozen players that are likely to make a dent in the scoreboard, a few of whom have the genuine chance of topping 50, and we have a new coaching team who are undoubtedly cooking up all sorts of surprises for us here's a question - when was the last time someone wearing red and blue kicked 10 goals in a match? I know Neita never got past 9, would it have been Wako Jako?

  6. Watts kicking that snap, and the look on his face that followed, was probably the highlight 0f 2011 for mine
  7. certain experts also said that Cale Morton could have gone at number 1. Nuff said.
  8. thats how I read it too. We should probably expect a bunch of injuries and players being rested, possibly a bit of a fade out towards the end of the year. You cant make an omlette...
  9. firstly, how do you know what every other club is doing? Secondly, if you go from being behind to being even, how is that not something special? Remember we took the premiers right to the line twice with a younger side than we have now, who were apparently operating under substandard conditions. Somewhat special if you ask me
  10. Lyon Stynes Moloney Oooze Neita Wiz LJ Robbo Whelan Wako Jako Chunky Jones special mention to Tom Scully
  11. not to mention a cancer on society in general.. anyone who knows someone who just hands their paycheck over every week will know what I mean
  12. McKenzie left out = fail = hand back your membership = leave the country
  13. FCS Threads like this make me really disappointed in our supporter base. What does a player have to do to earn the slightest piece of respect at this club? Brent Moloney - lifelong Melbourne supporter, forces his way onto Geelong's list 'the hard way' - through the rookie list. As a second year player he features in their finals campaign before coming our way in exchange for a first round draft pick. Battles the dreaded osteitis pubis that stalls his career completely for 3 seasons. Despite this, becomes starting midfielder. Earns the respect of his club, going beyond the call, not just on-field but as a clubman and becomes vice-captain. Even after losing it through an off-field incident, he earns it back 'the hard way' through dedication and game day performance. Wins the best and fairest and finishes ninth in the brownlow. Above all else, this bloke is hard as nails and has never at any stage taken a backwards step on the football field or done anything other than what is best for his coach and the side. Anyone with the slightest clue about how a football club operates would realise you give this man the captaincy without a moment's hesitation. Especially given there is nobody else on the list who comes remotely close to ticking all the boxes that the player in discussion has. However, most of you operate under the mindset of a desperate minnow club, and want to give it a bloke that has 2 years experience and - while clearly a potential star - has in no way earned it, and as we have all learned 'the hard way' could be off at the end of the year for whatever club can arrange an under-the-table payday for him. Not to mention he is one of a long line of Melbourne players that bolted out of the gate, and the vast majority never became anything. It's the exact same cretins spouting this garbage who wanted Brock McLean captain after the 2006 elimination final. That worked out well didn't it? Fortunately I know damn well those in charge at the club would never allow such an embarrassing injustice to occur - because they know how football clubs operate - and Moloney will be the next captain of the MFC, like he was born and bred to be. When Trengove, Grimes, Watts etc get to the point they can list an equivalent CV than Moloney, they will have earnt it.
  14. I desribed Petterd as a 'non-key-position forwards with x-factor, that get a secondary opponent on them and can tear apart a game with a few brilliant touches' pretty sure he fits that description
  15. if Moloney is C grade then there are 8 players in the comp who are A or B , according to this years brownlow
  16. correct - one of them has played 175 games and had his prime years in a brilliant side, the other two have played 35/50 in a shizen side, with their best years to come i'd like to see Johnson playing key position for Melbourne as a 21/22 year old, getting belted for the last few years.. just like i cant wait to see 26 year old Jurah/Petterd in a top 4 side use your noggin FCS
  17. disagree, with he and Petterd we have two potential Steve Johnsons - non-key-position forwards with x-factor, that get a secondary opponent on them and can tear apart a game with a few brilliant touches. Jurrah would have to be the most naturally talented player have seen in red and blue
  18. and they go 'at the end of the first quarter its the dees trailing the pies by 15 points' over the loudspeaker.. yeah there's a couple of scoreboards dhead.. I gues the announcement is for all the blind dudes that come to watch a game of footy
  19. i will be watching every GWS game barracking hard for the opposition. I want to see them set some kind of record for beltings in a year. I hope the Swans give them a nice welcome round 1..
