  1. Thre is no compo pick currently. If/ when comes is supposedly Roos bound for Pedersen

pies are being greedy...they want to eat all the pies

How are we able to offer/can they ask for our Moloney compensation pick? We don't even know what it is yet or if it will even be anything. That's a major drawback of this system.

compo is announced this friday. we have another two weeks of trade period?

  2. Why on earth would you want to trade the only decent player on the list.

i did say 'look at'...Mark Neeld has gone public about Col's form earlier this season.

some of cols actions need to be looked at....ie., joking around with opposition players after a heavy loss.

  3. I honestly don't know why people bother with these scenarios. If you're going to go to the effort to make them, surely you'd at least make them plausible - otherwise, what's the point?

We don't start match threads every week with: "The Ideal Game" and continue to list how we'll dominate each and every 5 minutes period of the game to end up 200 point winners.

Further, if you're not going to be plausible then why aim low? Why settle for Pederson for Cook when we could get Judd/Ablett/Selwood/Franklin/Rioli for Moloney?

glad you could get off your perch in your ivory tower to tell us that.

  4. That to me is their current value, both spent the year at Casey, with cook bring dropped to the vfl reserves.

i'm happy to show a little more patience....gysberts had ankle issues and broken jaw this year....Cook is skinny as a rake…plus only a 2nd year player. Watts has taken three years to show a little.

We should be looking at blokes like Sylvia, Morton, Dunn, Bate, etc…they've had enough time.

  5. With the October trade month commencing on Monday, what is the best outcome.

For me its starts with the Father and son bidding with Jack Viney coming to us for our second round pick. I had been a get Hogan fan until the Butcher rumors started to circulate so for me Butcher would be a great pick up.

Here is my Ideal Trade week and I'm trying to be fair with the trades

As Mentioned Viney for Second round pick

Butcher and Ports Pick 7 to Melbourne for pick 4 and 13

Wellingham and Pies Third Round for our third round pick and Martin

    Byrnes and Knights FA

Koby Stevens Pick 3 in the Pre-Season Draft

Petterd and our 4th rd pick to Richmond for their second Round Pick

A bidding war between clubs for Rivers and Moloney resulting in us securing 2 further second round picks rather than losing them as free agents

Cook to Carlton for third round pick on trade to North for Pederson

Gysberts to Geelong for second round pick.

We get Butcher, Pick 7, Wellingham, Byrnes, Knights, Stevens, Pederson and three 2nd round picks, Viney

We lose Pick 4 and 13, Our second round pick(Viney), Moloney, Rivers, Petterd, Gysberts, Martin and Cook, our fourth round pick

This leaves us with Picks 3, 7 and three second round picks in the National draft big month meaning we will turn over 12-13 players.

that's looks like a closing down sale. I don't understand why you are looking to offload youth so cheaply.

We need to replace blokes like Dunn, Bate, Green, Moloney, Petterd, Rivers, with blokes who are up to it.

Can't believe you would give Cook away for a 3rd round pick and Gysberts for a 2nd round pick.

  6. I'm with those who are of the view that we shouldn't allow players and their management to stand over us in regard to recruiting. If we want the player and believe he fits into our plans, by all means go for him.

if you want something you have to go out and get it. Not going to come to you easy. Players aren't knocking on our door. We can't offer a premiership in the short term so we have to pay the $$$.

The reality Caddy and His management want to stand all over clubs. Caddy wants to choose his club and not a club choose him.

  7. I don't like the idea of a comprised draft with priorty and compensations picks. 18 clubs should mean 18picks per round. Better to keep it simple.

If Cloke leaves Collingwood...Cloke will be getting approx 1mil over 5years.

Would it be fair for the AFL to hand the new clubs first round draft pick to Collingwood as compenstation? Based on what he will be getting paid etc.

  8. Carlton have no leadership...Carlton are similar to melbourne in that they are stocked full of 1st round draft picks. The main difference between melb and carlton is a handful of players...ie,. Judd, etc..Judd is not a captain. He is a mecenary.

Swans have a super leadership group...Strong Culture and the players buy into it.

  9. Watching Watts Vs Walker in our back line was a tragic mismatch.

Jack needs body strength, from that will come confidence to use his body. I wouldn't write him off yet.

IT was a great lesson for jack...walker is only 23. shows jack how much harder he needs to work. Simple

  10. unlike many comments on threads this is argument is put forward in a reasoned manner.

From the outside I tend to think Cam's done ok. But I think its reasonable also to always review and question whether this or that tac is the better path to follow.

I certainly dont dismiss Fan's concern that we arent prioritising the TPP. Im a bit surprised at this also. I get jittery with top heavy admin style businesses. If its found CS has built nothing more than a castle for himself, with mathcing desks then id be very disappointed as I on the few occasions Ive met him have coem away wit the idea he is passionate about the club, its history and its future. But I could be wrong.

Theres always a happy balance to thse things and possibly we just arent there yet. Id be fuming if we were putting carts before horses.

Having said that Ive no problem with the club soliciting for funds any which way it can. No matter what happens or how many times or how many methods are enlisted I will give what I do and thats that. Others have much deeper pockets than mine and thats good also.

Holistically it seems we in a far better place than we have been for decades. The details and finer points can and should always be reviewed and tweaked as a matter of course. Its just good practice.

For mine Cam Schwab downfall has been his profile. Things like whiteboard wednesday was nothing more than self promotion. It highlighted he had his own agenda.

Jim Stynes book apparently described Cam Schwab as having his own agenda. Unable to follow the boards direction. He should stick to following the boards direction instead of his own agenda.

I would like to see more of Don Mclardy in the media. I don't think he's put a foot wrong yet. Cam should stay in more a behind scenes role. The club is out of debt. Cam is doing a good job. His public profile isn't the right fit for the club.

  11. I like it. That’s not too dissimilar to what Matt Rendell was suggesting the AFL do to prepare the indigenous kids from remote communities (round about the time he landed himself in hot water for saying something or the other about indigenous players…). Get them in early, get them into a program where they aren’t required to play straight away, but can be given time to adjust.

    http://www.abc.net.a...ay-line/3900240

I just really like the concept of a young kid having a year to get up to speed in an AFL environment.

Can’t see this happening, but perhaps this could be introduced in lieu of priority picks. If a team qualifies for a priority pick under the AFL’s new formula, they get given the best qualifying 17 year olds that they have to trade for commodities ala GWS and their mini draft picks. The side holding the picks can’t keep them but have to trade for either players or picks. If their unlucky enough not to have any clubs interested in trading with them, maybe then they can be compensated with an extra pick somewhere (at AFL’s discretion).

I actually don't like the u17 mini draft. Not a good look for the AFL. Trading/drafting a kid before he is an adult 17 year old kids isn't right...sounds a bit like child slavery? ha
