Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Ooooh, I like it. Kelly to Melbourne and Caulfield sorted. Reckon our club might have sorted that one itself, but who knows.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
I'd normally agree, but if say Buckley has been chosen, it might be good messaging to dissuade any of the candidates that it was always a boat race all along. If the panel makes noises about being blown away by one of the other candidates, who ultimately just misses out to Buckley, well, it was a close race. Jeez, I'm cynical.

Farewell Charlie Spargo
Sad to see you go Charlie, but thanks for your service.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
It's the elongated hyphen that gives away the chatgptness.

Training Ground?
Both could be true. MRC have a debt problem and Roffey was big noting herself as that was the entire reason she was brought onto the board - to solve the home base issue. But if what @bluey says is correct, it was always an option, just not the preferred one.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
That would make me think, but I'd still keep him I reckon.

Sounds like a Melbourne supporter to me.

Marcus Windhager
Windsor, Rivers and eventually Lindsay, will change this.

Brad Green and the current board
Rennick and Green have been on the longest now. With Rennick going, Green has been on longest.

Me too mate. 👏

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I'm keeping both Clarry and Trac. And I think that's what'll happen.
-
Marcus Windhager
Windhager actually makes Trac more potent as a mid, because he defends and covers for Trac in defensive transition. His acquisiton could also allow Trac to slide forward Dusty Martin style.

Marcus Windhager
As a midfield coach, what are your thoughts @Pennant St Dee ?
-
Marcus Windhager
We can't defend stoppage. Not only do we need new midfield coaches, but new personnel that complement our ball winners and offensive minded players.
-
Marcus Windhager
Windhager could have the same impact on our midfield as Dunkley had on Brisbane's. Let's hope we can get him over the line. Great list management. 👏

2025 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Any relation to AFL Hills?

Welcome to Demonland: Max Heath
Heath looked promising at AFL level. Verrall hasn't played a game.

The Latrelle Sumner-Pickett Thread
We absolutely need another x factor forward IMO. Ideally two. The question is whether Sumner-Pickett is good enough for AFL level.

Potential Father Son Prospect Noah Yze
Smith's value came from his explosiveness and speed. Noah is a smarter player, a more than natural footballer, but lacks the explosiveness and speed. They are important attributes in a mid sized forward I reckon. I don't think we'll go down the Noah path.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
I guess this is my point. Every club is at a different stage and has different needs. Clearly, we've identified we need experience, but this is the problem with an arbitrary rule like 8 years experience. What if the best candidate had 6 or 7 years experience and was seen as the glue to the FD and wider club? I think it shows how poor/naive some of our messaging is. There was never any need to be specific about the amount of experience in terms of years. Just say you're looking for experience and you won't be drawn into specifics. They will come out as part of the process. An operator like PJ wouldn't frame things this way. And if you've seen Green's video on socials yesterday, he can barely string a sentence together, and manages to repeat the same talking points regardless of the question. (I know it's difficult being in front of the camera, I struggle with this too unless I know exactly what I'm talking about) I worry we still don't have the right people in charge though. Time will tell.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
As mentioned, with an arbitrary rule like this, we'd immediately rule out the next Chris Scott, Hardwick, Clarkson or Goodwin. I think we told Buckley the role was his before we sacked Goody and we're going through the process to give the board cover, making this point moot anyway. But I've been wrong before...
-
Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Whereas, Goody had 4 years at Essendon, including an interim senior coaching position, plus an additional 2 years as an assistant under Roos at Melbourne. So he wouldn't clear the bar either. The 8 years experience seems incredibly arbitrary.

The Rohan Marshall thread. 👏

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
The question is whether an experienced coach, or anyone, will sign for only 3 years...
