Yes, by the skin of his teeth. But i have the likes of Trengove, Parish*, Curnow*, Harmes, Stretch & Neal-Bullen missing out initially. So if Jack doesn't perform, he'll be on the chopping block quick smart. *If we draft them.
-
I don't think we will. But just my opinion.
-
The more i think about it, the more i'm convinced we'll take Parish with our first Pick. We've been linked to all of Curnow, Weideman and Francis who are all talls, who are all also a chance of at least one of them being available with our 2nd Pick. Parish is the only genuine mid we've been strongly linked to and we know wont be available with our 2nd pick. Fingers crossed for a Parish/Curnow combo from me!

Looking like we're only going to use Pick 46 (our 3rd Pick). With our need for a ruckman, and the list of delisted ruckman not being overly brilliant, I was wondering whether we may go down the National Draft route with our final pick. Gach Nuyon seems to be the most highly rated of the lot. But at 199cm and 83kg, he would have a fair bit o weight to put on and a few pre-seasons before he'd be any form of help. Next best ruckman in the draft however is the 203cm, 104kg Andre Parella from Sturt. Started football late as he was a promising Tennis player. But he's an aggressive, reasonably mobile (given his age/size) big man, who if disaster struck, could potentially help out in the ruck as early as 2016. I'd be very happy to see us select Andre the Giant. Will end up being around the Pick we picked up Max Gawn back in the 2009 draft!

That is true.Although now with the first lot of list lodgements being done and we know exactly who's available and what we're lacking. Of all the players i've mentioned, the only two delisted players i'm keen on getting in the Rookie Draft are Mitch Harvey and Lloyd Perris.
-
Not that i'd heard of, but i stand to be corrected.
-
Main difference is Freo have already expressed their committed to rookie listing Morabitto. Sydney haven't re Perris.
-
Reported he had LARS surgery this time around. So should be go to start training in the new year. 16 weeks is the alleged turn around time for LARS I believe?
-
My thoughts exactly. His injury history suggests he'll be available to us at that Pick, and with Roos relationship/knowledge of Perris, it's almost an obvious decision. Two years in the system, elite runner who adds to the midfield depth (best case scenario) Player who doesn't work out like so many other rookie selections (worst case scenario). Hope Roos rolls the dice.

I assume everyone recalls in late 2013 when Roos came under attack from Richard Colless for trying to lure a Swans Academy player into the draft so we could select him early? http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/sydney-chairman-richard-colless-slams-paul-roos-for-trying-to-lure-emerging-swans-prospects/story-fni5fan7-1226723906733 Well the 178cm young midfielder was delisted by the Swans after two horror injury run seasons in which he did his knee three times (twice on one, once the other). In the limited opportunities that he had at NEAFL level, he showed he had some ability, and played a very strong game (his 5th back) before he did his knee for the last time. http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Ratings/Player/117355/Lloyd-PERRIS Now I'm not saying lets sign him on the senior list now. But given Roos history with him, and how keen he was to secure him. When it gets to Pick 24 in the Rookie Draft, could this kid be worth a punt. Worst case scenario he doesn't get on the park and he's off our rookie list in 12 months anyway! Thoughts? I say get him!
-
Our first Pick in the rookie draft is looking good for a ruckman IMO.
-
Just looking at the key dates ahead then.It appears that if Viv was only on a 2 year contract, he has until November 9 to sign a new deal or nominate for the draft. Guess we'll know one way or another by then...
-
Could the reason why we haven't heard any news, yet he's still on our list (list lodgement lodged today) be that his initial contract with us was for 3 years and not 2? I haven't been able to find any old articles that state how long his contract was for?
-
Pick 50 in the draft every time as youcould end up with gold as opposed to a28 year old fringe player who's been delisted by 2 clubs and you know exactly where his ceiling is, and it isn't overly high.Simpkin's the sort of guy you recruit in premiership mode, not building mode.

BUMP Well today's D Day from what I believe re list lodgement. Will we hear news today of a new 1 or 2 year contract or that he's walking to the National or Pre-Season Draft to seek a better deal and more opportunities?
-
Now this IS one union that should have a Witch Hunt (Royal) Commission launched into it's practices!
-
I really like the look of Mutimer, but have it on good authority that he's a bit of a fl0g!
-
Only way we pick him up is if he somehow slides to our 3rd pick. Could you imagine the backlash if we took him at 7 and he turned into another Molan/Cook while whoever goes at 8 (Francis, Curnow, Weideman, Collins) starts tearing it up. Only a brave or stupid man would pick Rioli as early as 7.
-
I love Spencer's endeavor, but i don't really rate him. And while there's merit to your claim when comparing him to Redden & Daw, Moller only just completed his 3rd year on an AFL list behind Sandilands, Griffin, Hannath etc and it can take time for the big men.Gorringe is somewhere inbetween. If i had to pick one i'd probably go with Moller only because he's the youngest so has greater scope to come good. Not exactly spoilt for choice with the list though are we!
-
Thanks for that.So yes he should be considered. Depends which of the players i've mentioned is the best fit?
-
Has talent and we do need another ruckman on our list. But has he even been delisted? Reckon we might pick up an experienced ruck with our first pick in the rookie draft as we're thin for numbers there. If Gorringe has been delisted then for me he joins the list of potentials that includes names like: Majak Daw Craig Moller & Jarred Redden I could never consider Ayce Cordy or Robert Warnock however...

'They would have done that' - To be more accurate. Why would you delist Michie and re-rookie him when he's just played 11 games for us this year when we could have done the exact same thing with Hunt who's yet to debut? Point I'm trying to make is, if the plan was to delist someone and re-rookie them, you'd of thought that would be done with Hunt rather then Michie. We could always do it with Terlich? Delist and re-rookie so we're still honouring his contract. Believe we did this with Juice and Meesen a few years back when they were still in contract but we needed senior list spots?
-
If there's one thing that can be guaranteed in this draft, it's that Parish wont drift any further then Pick 5 (Essendrug's 2nd pick).
-
Already promoted.
