Fair enough to, it's difficult to get an idea of how much someone like Hale would cost given what is cabale of but rarely shows. Also ruckmen do seem to cost over traditionally. If we were to trade a draft pick I wouldn't want to offer any higher then pick 49 personally.
-
A quality player but don't see the point in chansing Big Cox. I'd only go for someone like Cox (at his age) if we needed a no 1 ruckmen and we were already in our premier window. Cause neither of those apply I'd have to strongly disagree.
-
Could be ok if a change of scenary is all that he needs to rejuvenate his career. Not sure what I'd be prepared to give up for him though? Maybe a straigh swap for Warnock if the FD are convinced that Martin & McNamara can provide our cover if any of Frawley, Rivers or Garland were to go down injured.

Fair enough to. You could get pick 29 from Richmond or pick 30 from Essendon if they loose one of Davey or Jetta. Could possibly grab pick 23 from the Bulldogs also if we throw in say pick 49 with him. But back onto West I suspect he'll probably stay at Geelong next year and the Cats will move Blake onto somewhere like Richmond, Port Adelaide, Gold Coast or possibly even St. Kilda if Gardiner retires after todays match.

It was mentioned in one of the other threads, Post 35 in Mock Trades. I'd be happy to keep Maric as I think he has a lot of talent. But also think if the right deal came along he's definatly tradeable as we have other good players who can play his type of role. Edit: Update

Now this guy fits the bill in my opinion for our first round rookie pick. A ruckman at 198cm, 101kg, 27 in July 2011, he's been playing very solid footy in the SANFL. Averages 5 kicks, 8 handballs, 3 marks & 25 hitouts a match this year with Port Adelaide Magpies, only kicked the 4 goals for the season however. He's also averaged about 2 tackles a game which isn't bad for a big man. If we are to get rid of PJ (which I hope we do) along with Meesen that would leave us with Jamar (gun), Martin (hopefully may be able to step up to no 2 ruck role), Spencer (hopefully can take a step next year) and then Fitzpatrick & Gawn (both of whom aren't ready). If Jamar were to get injured and Spencer wasn't up to it, then we'd need some insurance and that's where selecting someone like Meiklejohn as a rookie could be vital, especially as he's physically ready and his stats suggest he's a ruckman who does a bit around the ground. Would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts on a rookie selection like this, and especially the SA Dees out there who may of seen a bit more of Meiklejohn, you reckon he's up to the caper? I know he was a rookie on Sydney's list years back but as we know it takes a while for the big fellas to develop.

That was 2006 QB match when Fraser managed to kick a goal on White and gave him a send off as White ran to the bench even though we were still 5 goals up wasn't it? I remember that, made him look like even a bigger d*ck then we already know he is. My preference is to stick to what we want also. If we trade at all I'm happy for it to be Maric (who I hear wants out) for an improved draft pick.

No way in hell I'd be willing to trade our pick 32 for West, I'd be looking more at pick 66 or 49 at most. I'm not totally against the idea of West but I'd be more keen on Fraser, Hale or Charman while we wait for Fitzpatrick to come on. Or my prefered option in that we rookie draft a mature age ruckman from the VFL, WAFL or SANFL in the event that Jamar gets injured. As for the 2nd ruckman option Martin, Spencer & Fitzpatrick can battle that out next year I say.

2010 Player Review - # 13 Jordie McKenzie (rookie)
MadAsHell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Junior Junior -
He had some ok games agreed. Although his games against Essendon & Hawthorn againts lesser ruckmen in Bellchambers & Skipper were deplorable and reafirmed my belief that we should get rid of him. I'd much rather see Spencer, Fitzpatrick & Martin battle it out for our 2nd ruckman spot. I think we should rookie list a mature age ruckman from the VFL, WAFL or SANFL to cover in the event that Jamar were to go down with a serious injury.

Not quite the same, Maric & Veszpremi have shown about the same at AFL level. As for Jurrah compared to White I think Jurrah's worth a bit more on the market then White. But I do get your point. Maybe thrown in pick 49 as a sweetner?
-
Another potential trade involving Maric if the Davey/Essendon trade isn't that appealing. Maric to Sydney for White? Gives us a big bodied forward who can also play as 2nd ruck? He had a very good season in 2009.
-
Thankyou Jamoose, think I got 2 of the Bulldogs small midfielders confussed. My mistake.
-
There's no doubting Maric's potential and that he was a quality junior. If Melbourne do trade Maric I think we'll be banking on his potential to get us a good deal. Think the guys name was Christian Howard or something like that. Looked ok, nothing sensational. I'd rate Maric ahead of him personally.
-
Richmond, Essendon & Western Bulldogs are all clubs who I reckon would be interested in Maric.
-
I'll be interested to see what deal is done for Tarrant. He's probably only got 2 years in him, but is still a very good defender. Question is what is a 30 year old quality defender worth???
-
Great combination back in the day! Not sure if they're as effective today though?
-
Yeah I thought someone might jump on that one, one of the more unrealistic for sure. I figured Power has 1, 2 years left tops, and there's murmurings Brisbane can't kepe him. For a player his age no one would give up a lot for him, a lot like Barry Hall last trade period, so thought pick 57 would be there abouts. And as for the on trade of Simon Buckley to Brisbane he'd be just what the Bears need. A line breaking midfielder with pace to burn, something they seriously lack. He's had a pretty good VFL season but can't get a game at the Filth. Power to the Bulldogs I figured they'd still be under the impression they'd be a chance for a flag next year as would Power.

I removed the word trade just for you E25!
-
9 probably is over the top your right. Depends how much hard ball Brisbane play I guess and how much GC17 are prepared to pay for what Brennan can potentially provide. Only problem is we all know he can't do it week in week out.
-
Haha. cheers Dazzledavey36, Can understand some people not giving 2 hoots about other clubs trades but just seeing what others thought and if there'd be anyone in there we'd rather Melbourne chase. Just mixing it up a bit people!

Sadly I'm just really bored at work today!

The Gold Coast Suns We'll steal your players and give you skin cancer! No chance of finals and whiel Ritschitelli, Brown, Bock & Krauker are all decent players none of them are superstars. I guess a lot will depend on Ablett, Harbrow and whoe else that they can get but I'd expect bottom 4 for sure next year.

Good thread idea. Thanks HT.
