Everything posted by KC from Casey

  1. Lions get two quick goals to start off the second quarter and its game on.
  2. After a late goal to the home side, the Casey lead at quarter time is 19 points:- Peter Jackson VFL Casey Scorpions 6.1.37 Coburg Lions 3.0.18 Goals Smith 3 Jamar Jones McKenzie
  3. Smith has his third for the quarter. This is a fantastic comeback for the big boy and the lead is now out to 25 points.
  4. No, for some reason Channel 7 have a problem when it comes to covering Casey games. They have a delayed telecast of Collingwood v Richmond which started at about 10.30am. Pity they don't want to share the games around all clubs. Casey have been covered once this year on the 7 network. Casey Radio only does VFL games on Sundays.Meanwhile, Coburg open their account but Tim Smith gets his second and the lead is back to four goals.
  5. Two more through Jones then Smith - they might have some common names but there was nothing ordinary about their goals or the great start to an important day for the Casey Scorpions who lead 4.0.24 to 0.0.0.
  6. Casey Scorpions open brightly with the first 2 goals. The first to the Russian and then to Jordie Mckenzie from a free kick and things are getting very willing out there.
  7. All over red rover at Pirhana Park and the Scorps are bleeding. 2015 Peter Jackson VFL Casey Scorpions 3.2.20 5.3.33 7.7.49 12.10.82 Coburg Lions 3.6.24 8.10.58 15.13.103 19.16.130 Goals Casey Scorpions Wyatt 3 McDonald Scott 2 Gawley Hillard Moncrieff Paredes Wilson Coburg Lions Madden 4 Cooper Kalanj 3 Hemala Schraven 2 Bailey Featherstone Hunt Miles Rogers Best Casey Scorpions Wyatt McDonald Rutherford Walmsley Scott Hillard Coburg Lions Sturgess Cooper Blair Madden Rogers Hunt The team for the main game has just ten Demon listed players including Dean Kent who is obviously lacking match fitness after he badly injured his hamstring in the Anzac Eve game v Richmond and playing ½ a game in the development league four weeks ago. He is expected to get limited playing time in the hope that he can add to the team's playing stocks in the finals. Tim Smith also makes a timely return after missing most of the last half of the season. It's a very inexperienced team with three players Anderson, Corrigan and Rennie coming in for the first time this year. Between them they have played a handful of senior games (this partly explains the development team's poor showing). Then there's the team's lucky charm Tom Papley who is 23rd player and was handy in a couple of wins early last month in the middle of the team's mid season winning streak that put it in finals contention in the first place.
  8. Casey in all sorts of bother at three quarter time trailing 7.7.49 to Coburg's 15.14.104.
  9. Half time and Coburg dominated most of the quarter with Casey getting a couple of late goals. Casey 5.3.33 to Coburg 8.11.59. For some reason the Scorps always struggle against this mob at this ground. It doesn't augur well for the main game later this afternoon.
  10. Quarter time in the Development League game and the Scorps down by 4 points after a late Coburg goal: 3.2.20 to 3.6.24.
  11. Highlights: The moment of truth for the Casey Scorpions. After four consecutive defeats, a loss to the Coburg Lions this week will put them one step away from missing out on the finals. A win guarantees their place in the top echelon and at least one game in September. A few interesting returnees including Dean Kent on the interchange and a couple of Scorpions Morris and Smith as well as exciting Gippsland Power player Tom Papley. Jack Fitzpatrick, Jayden Hunt and Jimmy Toumpas all out injured will make things tough. 12. I think both ruckmen did well and it might have been a toss up between them. However, in saying that, I don't think either of them did enough given who they were against. In fact, full credit must go to Williamstown which was a well drilled outfit with a lot of their players being a step away from AFL list level and yet showing up some of our MFC players. Apart from the players who went up to the AFL because of late injuries at Melbourne and the loss of Fitzpatrick and Toumpas in the second half, Casey was without two of its own important VFL listed players in skipper Panozza and forward Smith. They are now in a position where they must beat Coburg away to be sure of making finals. On Mitch White, I agree that while he was impressive, I wouldn't have rated him Casey's best. However, these votes are probably given by the coaching panel who are privy to player instructions and the like which would IMO heavily influence how they vote. A player can only do what his coaches ask them to do and in those cases the player will poll better than a flashy footballer who breaks team rules.
  13. Siren and the Scorpions go down by 17 points - a very disappointing result because they had to win and the loss of a AFL players before and then a couple more during the game was very costly to the cause. 2015 Peter Jackson VFL Casey Scorpions 4.5.29 5.5.35 9.7.61 12.7.79 Williamstown 3.1.19 8.6.54 10.6.66 14.12.96 Goals Casey Scorpions Fitzpatrick 4 Page 3 Hunt Jamar Lovett Pattison Stretch Williamstown Dunell 5 Anastasio Critchley Gallucci 2 Banner Carr Wheeler Best Casey Scorpions White Stretch Jamar Terlich Page Muir Williamstown Jolley Dunell Banner Meese Sing Carr
  14. Trouble now as Willy back in control with a 2 goal lead but Jake Lovett goals to revive Casey's sagging hopes.
  15. That sniff was short lived as the Seagulls fight back to level the score 9 minutes into the last.
  16. The Russian goals and suddenly the Scorps have a 7 point lead and a possible sniff of a win.
  17. Huge lift at the end of that quarter with a goal on the siren putting Casey with five points after trailing by 22 points well into the term. Casey 9.7.61 to Williamstown 10.6.66
  18. Goal for goal but Casey still 17 down late in the third.
  19. Casey needs to step up now and they do with a much needed goal to Page.
  20. Half time and Williamstown lead 8.5.53 to 5.3.33 Goals Fitzpatrick 4 Page Disposals Toumpas 15, Stretch 11, McKenzie 11, Gent 11, Newton 9, McDonald 8
  21. Two more to the visitors and suddenly they're 11 points up.
  22. Coburg still a danger as they're making a run. Casey must win today.
  23. Williamstown have the advantage of the scoring end and have cut the lead back to 3 points.
  24. Jack again with goal number four. Why has he been playing in defence?
